Looking for irony? I have some.
EC president Donald Tusk slammed German chancellor Angela Merkel in a tweet. Guess who tweeted in defense of Merkel.
Alexis Tsipras, prime minister of Greece.
Meanwhile Hungary pokes another well deserved finger into Merkel’s eye by declaring a state of emergency by sending troops to the border to shut the border down totally.
EC President’s Tweet
In what has to be the biggest disguised slam ever against German Chancellor Angela Merkel by a top Eurozone official, EC president Donald Tusk tweeted “I thank Western Balkan countries for implementing part of EU’s comprehensive strategy to deal with migration crisis.”
Greece Defends Merkel
Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras responded to Tusk with his Tweet “The Western Balkans route has come to an end due to unilateral actions by certain countries. EU has no future if it goes on like that.”
Unilateral Actions
The Balkin states have had enough of Merkel and Greece. They began work on a “Fortress Europe” 250 mile fence along Europe’s eastern frontier in a desperate bid to hold back the migrant influx.
Hungary joined forces with Austria and nine Balkan countries with another “unilateral” action today.
NBC reports Hungary Declares State of Emergency Over Migrants.
Hungary declared a state of emergency and said troops would be deployed to reinforce its borders following the closure of a key migration route. Closing the route has left around 14,000 desperate people stranded along the Greek border with Macedonia amid rapidly-deteriorating conditions.
Unilateral Actions
Please refresh my memory. I just cannot remember: Who was it that unilaterally welcomed refugees with open arms?
Do Ten Countries Telling Merkel to “Go to Hell” constitute unilateral action, or does Merkel’s Pact With the Devil, suffice?
Mike “Mish” Shedlock
MIsh,
Donald Tusk is the President ofthe EU not Donald Trump.
yes see my earlier replies to others who caught it.
Thanks
Mish, obviously you mean Tusk, not Trump in your opening. Must be election fever!
Typo: EC president is Donald Tusk, not Donald Trump. The latter is still focusing on US matters 😉
Thanks!
It’s weird because I was worried in advance of making that exact typo.
Very difficult to spot errors when you think you know what you said.
Mish
I think you meant “Tusk”. Freudian slip

EC president Donald TRUMP slammed German chancellor Angela Merkel…
Well, elephants do have Tusks and Trump is better on immigration.
Alexis Tsipras of Syriza was the one who opened the floodgates based on his leftist policies by starting to let everybody go freely through Greece towards northern european welfare countries and created the whole mess in the beginning of 2015 and when the word spread out that everybody could get through Greece because they had stopped detention and stopped border patrols and then millions came.
News:
Greece outlines radical immigration reforms
Greece’s new left-wing government wants to abolish detention centres for migrants who entered illegally.
Preethi Nallu | 05 Mar 2015 09:05 GMT
Athens, Greece – For much of the past decade, Greece – with its long coastline and proximity to Asia – has been a destination for migrants from Senegal to Pakistan and everywhere in between.
Today, the majority of migrants entering Greece come from Syria and Afghanistan, with many using Greece as a transit point on their way to western and northern Europe.
Until now, the Greek government’s response to all migrants without documentation has been dictated by deterrence and detention policies. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), 45,500 migrants and asylum seekers were apprehended by Greek police in 2014.
But the left-wing Syriza party’s resounding victory in Greece’s parliamentary elections last month could signal a major shift in policy.
The party’s 40-year-old leader, Alexis Tsipras, is not likely to be a traditional Greek prime minister.
Unlike his predecessors, Tsipras – an atheist – declined to be sworn into office by the Archbishop of Greece. His party continues to demand a radical renegotiation of Greece’s debt to its European creditors, a stance staunchly opposed by the European Central Bank.
Debt is not the only area in which the new Greek government and the EU are colliding. Syriza also proposes a major overhaul to Greece’s migration policy, which could affect how the EU deals with asylum seekers.
Syriza’s emphasis on protecting migrants who have entered the country, instead of detaining and deporting them, stands in stark contrast to the priorities in Brussels.
Recent statements by Tasia Christodoulopoulou, Greece’s new immigration minister, signal a 180-degree turn from the focus on detention and border patrols, which has dominated the country’s migration policy for more than a decade.

The main pulling factor however was Sweden’s and Germany’s policies of free apartments, free money and family re-unification straight to welfare but also other western european countries offered these benefits but Sweden and Germany were the most generous.
Another pulling factor was that majority of asylum seekers were accepted in western europe thanks to insane EU-directive demanding asylum decision in under 6 months so just a story which was logical was enough to be given refugee-status or at least subsidiary protection and these stories were spread on facebook groups with hundreds of thousands of iraqis, somalis, syrians , afganistanis by asylum seekers who had previously come and succeeded in getting free life for the rest of their lives with their story.
To top it all of EU had created an agency EASO to train all EU countries immigration bureaucrats to act the same way when doing interviews and making decisions and the model for EASO training curriculum used to train all bureaucrats making immigration and asylum seeker decisions around EU-countries originated from Sweden so the EASO training curriculum was originally developed in Sweden under the name European Asylum Curriculum, EAC and this became the EU standard so the whole EU was in essence as lax, liberal and easy to get into as Sweden has been for tens of years.
EU bureaucracy at it’s most stupidest.
The Maya wizards ended their calendar in 2012 for a reason. They had a good handle on big numbers. I suggest they anticipated when the population of the earth would exceed carrying capacity. Civilization would dissolve into chaos beginning 2012. We have an opportunity to preserve and protect civilization in communities protected by walls, guns, identity cards, and laws.
Also it should be Balkan not Baltic states.
Balkan states (Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia) closed the Balkan route but the Baltic states (Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia) are also building a 250 km of fence to their borders with Russia to protect themselves from people coming through Russia to seek asylum,
EU – Fences everywhere – inspired by Angela Merkel.
By the time next US president is elected whole EU outer border will be completely fenced in with armies at the borders (like Hungary is doing now) to stop people coming in so if Trump wins Nobody will scream about him building a wall anymore because Europe already surrounded itself with high fences that have barbed wire on top.
We used to feel sorry for people being killed trying to enter Europe, we used to condemn the iron curtain, and now we are doing the same, building the fences and stopping people entering by force. The irony is that we invite them, both by stirring up trouble in their countries and offering solutions in ours. The obvious solutions have been ignored. So I can only look on it as a level of control purposefully organized and imposed on all.
The way reality works, do you imagine Europeans trying to escape Europe and being fenced in ? Do you imagine European countries all being fenced in by one border ? Isn’t this what is happening, a central move to control as much as possible ?
Before we had a choice of nation, of authority, now we don’t, they are all being brought under the same command.
Are you sure about the last name of the EC prez?
“Do Ten Countries Telling Merkel to “Go to Hell” constitute unilateral action, or does Merkel’s Pact With the Devil, suffice?”
For each unilateral action, there is an equal and opposite lateral reaction. Newton should have studied the laws of human nature, as well as the laws of physics.
A scandinavian news station had a report today that no boats have come to Lesbos island in greece so far today 10th of March 2016.
Lesbos is one of the main islands asylum seekers coming from Turkey to Greece have used since it’s close to turkish coast and Greece gives everyone a ferry ride to mainland Greece.
If the boats stopped coming to Greece then Macedonia and other Balkan countries led by example from Austria saved Europe from Merkel’s insanity.
