In the wake of a stunning (but well deserved) vote in favor of the UK telling the EU to “go to hell” prime minister David Cameron has resigned.
Is this good news? If so, for whom?
Let me be among those to say “good riddance”. Cameron was a fool, a coward, and a pawn of the EU all along.
That said, his resignation is not all good news.
Cameron will leave Brexit negotiations to others. Those others may be even less supporting of Brexit than he was.
Puff the Magic Cameron
Earlier today I asked Key Brexit Question: Is Cameron the Biggest Liar in History?
We do not get to find out. In typical Cameron cowardice, he slinked off to his cave instead of vowing to carry on the wishes of the clear majority of British voters.
The truth is out on what most of us knew all along.
Cameron is like Puff. He has slinked off to his cave.
Mike “Mish” Shedlock
Cameron’s announcement this morning emphasized that the will of the British people must be implemented. Various members of his party have called for a Brexit government now and it is hard to imagine Cameron’s replacement will be other than a Brexiteer.
it is a truly cathartic moment in politics, to see the demise of the elite.
Much better than a fart in a lift, or the warm feeling of pissing yourself in a wetsuit!
To see a little joy pop through the facade of political correctness!
At last the Brits face the world as Brits, not as faceless Evil Unionists!
Britain, at last returns to her roots.
Look at the markets! Who is down?
UK barely. No it’s the Germans and the French. The Evil Union, they are the losers, the Brits will continue, from strength to strength, without the impediment of the Evil Union>
Go Britain!
Free at last!
Look to the future with the commonwealth and the world as trading partners, not the oppressive EVIL Union. Throw off the shackles of the oppressive Evil Union!
Happy days are her.
Rejoice!
Congratulations from a member of the oppressed!
Be careful very careful of “puffs” departure UK. This may have been part of their part all along. Remember you are dealing with, and their creed: “by way of deception, thou shalt make war”… Just like traitor Churchill, and the Mossad Creed. The Mossad works for the Rothchild tribe not Israel directly.
I share your pessimism but not your paranoia, at least to that degree.
Hurrah, I was wrong. The Brits won and the EU lost. I was wrong and happy for it. Unfortunately, I still believe Hillary Clinton will be uncovered as a slithering criminal and acknowledged as such by nearly all … and still win the next Presidential election. Central banks will still try to ruin economies by monetizing debt and keeping interest rates artificially too low. Most of Europe will remain enslaved by Brussels’ insane Utopians. Japan remains a farce. China, I hope, retains control because a billion screaming Chinese experiencing freedom for the first time in millennia of history actually will destroy the world.
Today, the bad guys are on the run and heading for the hills. Small victories need to be savored. Financial markets will right themselves somewhat … the media will call it a rout. In fact, it’s the world taking the first step in a long time to right itself and become safe for normal people like me to get back in, eventually, after more crooks get tossed out.
One would be right to look for the Empire to Strike Back. Darth Vader has other tricks.
cdr,
Do you mean Brussel’s insane Dystopians? I don’t view them as Utopians!
DavidC
Brussels is cooked – Freedom is Served.
It would be political hari-kari for Cameron’s party to ignore the vote results. Following our musical themes, “who’s Next?
Is it possible that Cameron got himself caught in the web of Boris the Spider?
Me thinks yessum. 😩😩😂😩
I remember Harold Wilson resigning as prime minister in 1976 shortly after the pound fell below $1.60. I recall Lord Carrington resigning as foreign minister in 1982 after Argentina invaded the Falklands – even though Britain eventually won that conflict. Most party leaders here (I’m in England now) resign after an election loss. It is the British way.
And, IMHO, it is better than the US way, which is for the political leader to go on TV and explain why he deserves to keep his job.
Agreed.
Are you thinking of some Kenyan on the air this week………..
I tend to agree. It was a “no confidence in Cameron” vote. But it doesn’t mean the next chap on duty will instill any confidence.
at least Cameron had the honesty and integrity
to give the British people the right to have a vote.
If Milliband (+Corbyn and whoever runs the Liberals)
had won the last election, there would not have been a vote.
Honesty??? Who are u kidding? He tried to blackmail Europe and it failed. Cameron is another Churchill phony.
Yes and the Jews are responsible for everything. Shouldn’t you be posting on stormfront?
You smash all records, man. Nazi, paranoid and troll —it’s a real feat. Congratulations!
The people have spoken. They are sick and tired of being patronised, bullied and abused. It will be interesting to see if they try and run it again after some “reform”
~~. It will be interesting to see if they try and run it again after some “reform”
LOL , Singh and Silver are hurriedly calculating the odds of that, even as I post this.
Sadiq Khan wants an exit exemption for London, and has joined force with Scotland for an initiative. No, seriously.
I am reading pro-EU dramas where people are deep in emotion over the meetings with continentals that will not take place… you would think someone had closed the border or something, seriously misguided mentality many have on what EU is and exit means.
Look up the definition of non-binding
While you’re at it, look up the definition of insurrection
Maybe this will cause the long predicted recession as the pound and stock markets capsize
Has Sinead O’Connor jumped off a bridge yet like she promised she would if Brexit won? Supposedly she is in Chicago
Yes, yes, yes: Rule Britannia! The sooner the EU goes to hell, the better for everyone. Down with the EU – long live Europe!
This all only demonstrates the precarious fragility of the world’s economy….and social stability. The one thing that ALL governments fear is transparency, a transparency that actually drives accountability. This is what Brexit accomplishes. The fundamentals are crap around the world and the “operators” are desperate to conceal it. It is laughable to believe that Brexit would have any significant impact on world economies….but it does, simply because the economy is based completely on confidence, a confidence that has been fabricated from wishes and paper mache, rather than anything real.
Is the vote legally binding? The vote was not a landslide for Brexit. I can see Parliament pointing to the 48%+ who voted to remain and ignoring the results. Then what? Riots? British democracy exposed for the illusion it is?
S&P down 3%.
Meh.
“Much ado about nothing.” Europe mainland is in deep doo-doo as they’ve bought into this GeneralPlan Ost thing hook, line and sinker…so they will now to have to face up to their responsibilities which I think they already are doing actually. This is the first time in years I’ve seen a buying opportunity in equities having been long Treasuries for four years and Silver for the past year. The US still has the biggest energy boom globally going on…prices are ridiculous high…and the cost of Capital for dollar denominated everything has just collapsed.
It’s not for lack of spending nor product either. Airports, subways, space launch, billion dollar skyscrapers, multi billion dollar warships…the only morons are folks buying gold right now near as I can tell.
Trading in Tesla is what I’ll be following. If the doom and gloomers are right that company should collapse over the weekend. I don’t see that happening and indeed think come Monday some good entry points in that name might be in order.
Hi Guys,
I only want to say, look at the markets to see who the winner is
UK – 4.23%
GERMANY – 7.13%
FRANCE – 8.61%
I rest my case!
THe UK has shown what a farce the Evil Union is!
Where is the advantage to the UK??
The UK must pay high tariffs and duties on imported goods and is then forced to purchase subsidised Evil Union goods!
The cathartic feelings of escape!!
Enjoy!!
3am this morning my step mother called and I had to eat crow. I did not think the Brits had it in them from the start. My step mother is a British citizen and was cheering. I was hoping a population would stand up to the utopian politicians at Brussels and actually carry out the vote and actually remove themselves from these dictators.
I am happy for the Brits, but it will remain to be seen if this is fully implemented.
Happy Brexitday!
Congrats to the people of Britain who refused to part with a good part of their sovereignty to an unelected mindless machine. Next up: EU stooge Rajoy falls in Espana, another blow to the unelected mindless machine’s arrogance.
So, do we buy the dip, or is this going to accelerate the depression? My guess is this is a knee-jerk reaction. Minimum of 5 years before the real consequences are realized, and, of course, there’ll be no way to recover the wasted time or opportunity loss.
Either way, there’s no control to compare against. Life goes on and the 1% get 1%er.
Cameron doesn’t want to soil himself with the difficulties of negotiating an exit.
Well boo hoo f#####g hoo. Don’t cry too much Davey don’t let the door hit you in the arse.
Great news… Boris likely pm, if so Brits likely will really leave. First out in best shape. France likely next, if France goes Spain Italy quickly follow. Latin euro?
Pound will recover somewhat, overvalued anyway, must fall to reverse trade deficit. Lower pound good for Brits, bad for Europe, especially Germany.
Euro will get pounded as Europe savers lose faith…
Dollar King…. Bad for us economy. Recession.
Treasuries emperor as world rushes to safety that pays interest.
Gold rise temporary.
“Treasuries emperor as world rushes to safety that pays interest.” Not for long! Watch out below!
“Gold rise temporary.” I have a million dollar bet that says you’re wrong.
France now has a super strong currency problem to mate with a 35 hour work week and lifetime employment. Hollande is selling ‘profound change’. French Francs could work.
The French economy has passed Great Britain’s to be the world’s 5th largest. The cheese eaters must be doing something right (or less wrong than the other 195 countries on earth)
How dare you bring up the facts in the midst of a nice rant? They believe what they want to believe!
Hmmmm, so much for all the right wing conspiracies about the globalists NEVER allowing the UK to leave, or that that powers that be wouldn’t allow it, or that the sheeple just go along with the brainwashing they are taught, or…on and on and on.
So much for that kind of “thinking”.
And Fascism continues it’s march across the globe.
George Washington urged the American people “to take advantage of their isolated position in the world, and avoid attachments and entanglements in foreign affairs, especially those of Europe, which he argues have little or nothing to do with the interests of America. ” It Looks like The British have heeded good advice. Now Only if the American people will follow their lead and elect a President with the same Mindset.
Perhaps the British could now join the US as a State. Kind of like Grandma moving in with the kids!
Might be time to re-watch “Yes, Minister”. I remember Sir Humphrey had a perfect double-talk explanation of the EC. I’d bet the BBC made sure that programme was not repeated over the last few months!
“Cameron will leave Brexit negotiations to others. Those others may be even less supporting of Brexit than he was.”
See, whaddiditellya? Brexit my foot. Just watch another Tsipras bullsheet making UK vote a sham.
Rinse, lather…..
