The situation is still unclear as I head out for the evening. But we do know one thing.

The only winner is the CIA.
European, and to a lesser extent American, defense contractors will be big winners.
Pretending Europe has grown too advanced and sophisticated to need those “goons with guns,” just because “our democratically elected leaders say so”, isn’t going to cut it anymore.
Putin was one thing, as Russia is militarily too big to easily do much about anyway. But increasing chaos flowing from the Middle East through Turkey and/or north Africa, is a problem Europeans will have to deal with themselves. They neither can, nor should, expect President Trump (or even Hillary), nor Putin, to take care of that for them. And now, they can’t rely on Turkey acting as much of a buffer, either.
Greek, Spanish and Italian soldiers; with German, French and Swedish guns, here we come! “Solving” the North/South flow of funds disparity the old fashioned way; by a military buildup. Saved FDR from having the consequences of his obvious idiocy smashed in his face, so no reason it can’t work for equally well for similarly delusional Eurocrats.
If Obama supports the existing Turkish government pray for the success of the Army.
I figure western PTB only voiced support when they calculated they were not picking the loser. We have no idea what is going on in the military, I don’t think a few hundred would risk their necks against a divided population and several hundred thousand other troops. IOW there is much more going on here than meets the eye… even if the plan was to physically eliminate the government and it failed. So far we have only witnessed supposed government sympathizers. What happens if resistance digs in in Ankara or elsewhere, or if there is a zealous purge of the military – there is a large secular movement in the population also. This event is going to tip the country somehow…
I immediately thought the same…especially as soon as I heard the douches in DC issue something to the effect of “we continue to support the democratically elected government in Turkey”
GO TEAM COUP !!
“F” The status quo
No idea if this site is reliable, they pin msm correctly but include other observation, will link it simply because we have a shortage of reporting of any kind

Coups are sort of like wars. If you start one you’d better damn well make sure you win. The ones on the losing side of the coup are undoubtedly laid out on cold cement slabs as I type. If Erdogan was paranoid before he’s going to be paranoid on steroids now. Look at him cross eyed and you’re toast. The police state in Turkey just went exponential. No-knock paperless searches at the discretion of the commandante. And we don’t need no stinkin’ badge.
The coup controls Ankara’s government.
Erdogan controls Istanbul crowds.
A fairly amateurish attempt at staging a fake coup to further Erdogan’s hand and enable him to gather enough support to push through the constitutional changes needed for one-man rule.
The Turkish has always protected and supported the secular ideas of Ataturk.
After the purges over the last few years, they, unfortunately, no longer are the last line of defense of secularism.
EU will of course denounce in the name of “democracy” and play the fake game.
What a sad continent/world we live in.
Turkey is unique, they’re the smartest kid in the dumb section. The only country in the world that spans two continents but the Turks aren’t really asian or european. Muslim but not arabs they’re more advanced than the ancient civilizations in Persia, Mesopotamia and Egypt that got pulled backwards when they were engulfed by Muhammed’s followers. They’ve been Germany’s Mexico for decades but really can’t blend in to the local culture. They never really got into hating on Israel like other muslim regimes but their recent cosy up to the jewish state seems to have lit some domestic anti semitic fuses.
I’m sure after seeing what happened to the strongmen leaders in neighboring states Erdogan got the message loud and clear and being Mr Nice Guy will put him in a grave. The coup leaders bet their lives and lost and the rest of the country is going to get a big dose of tough love.
Erdogan must know he can’t trust the US to watch his back after seeing what we did to Mubarek.
Minor quibble, but there are a bunch of other countries that span two continents: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_transcontinental_countries
Saturday Morning — Coup Over
Coup members to be dis-membered….bad day to be one of those guys…firing squad awaits.
But…But….democratic US partner…surely they’ll get a fair trial….no?
Yikes!
Nice try….thanks for playing.
“Nobody” has won by this…meaning I think spinning this as “outside forces at work” is pretty thin gruel. Ask yourself “who has nothing in Turkey already” and you’ll find The Dread Coup Plotters. This destabilizes Erdogan, destabilizes Putin, destabilizes the EU, destabilizes US policy in the Middle East, etc etc etc. “Democracy” is in my view a big winner as local control is established over various regions and so ultimately you have one less autocrat. Is interesting to see how many so called “freedom lovers” get behind the most anti Christian dictator psycho in the West when the chips are down tho. Germany wasnt one…nor Great Britain.
The USA sure has been though.
Ironically Erdo wants Gullens head and looks ready to blame US.

All we know is that the lighting is poor in Plato Cave.
NSA datamining. Who knew what when would be interesting to see.
Erdo has a few thousand troops, judges, officials behind bars to interrogate now and come up wth who to blame.
Considering the news coming out this morning, the coup was misidentified. Erdogan is at the head of the real coup. Democracy didn’t win last night, Despotism did. I don’t think one can even rule out the possibility that the military coup was staged by Erdogan himself.
Its possible, not very possible though. He would have had to supervise that the rebellion he started did not take up across the country by itself afterwards. I really don’t think he would have risked that.
A number of people are about to learn the very painful lesson that if you attack the king, you damn well better kill the king.
#BREAKING French minister calls all willing citizens to become reservists
What for?
Naturally Obama has encouraged all nations to support pro-terrorist Erdogan.
No surprise there.
Obama is probably marking off his short calendar (days left until Jan 20, 2017) so he can start wearing his garb in public.
