Within a week, Erdogan will be dictator of Turkey (assuming he doesn’t deserve that title already).
The purge of anyone and everyone suspected of being against Erdogan reached a new phase today as Licenses of 21,000 Turkish Teachers Have Been Revoked.
Reuters reports Licenses of 21,000 Turkish Teachers Have Been Revoked.
Turkey’s education ministry has revoked the licenses of 21,000 teachers working in private institutions, an official at the ministry told Reuters on Tuesday, part of an expanding government crackdown following a failed coup attempt.
The announcement came shortly after a report that the High Education Board had ordered the resignation of 1,577 deans at all universities across Turkey.
“The licenses of 21,000 teachers working in privately-run institutions have been canceled. Tip-offs that these (people) are mostly linked with terrorist activities have been taken into consideration,” the ministry official said, without elaborating.
Turkey Requests Extradition of Cleric From U.S.
CNN reports Turkey Requests Extradition of Cleric From U.S. as Post-Coup Purge Widens.
Turkey has formally requested the extradition of cleric Fethullah Gulen from the United States, the prime minister said Tuesday, as the government widens its purge following a failed military coup over the weekend.
Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim made the announcement of the extradition request in Parliament on Tuesday and on Twitter referred to Gulen as a “terrorist leader”. The Muslim cleric, living in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania, has denied any involvement.
Under the U.S.-Turkey extradition agreement, Washington can only extradite a person if he or she has committed an “extraditable act.” Treason — such as that implied by Erdogan’s demand for Gulen’s extradition — is not listed as such an act in the countries’ treaty.
More than 9,000 people are currently in detention in the fallout of the failed coup, Kurtulmus said, adding that a leader had yet to be identified.
The government has gutted some of the country’s security forces, dismissing almost 9,000 people from the Interior Ministry, mostly police officers, and hundreds of others from various ministries. Among those detained are at least 118 generals and admirals, accounting for a third of the general-rank command of the Turkish military, according to Turkish state broadcaster TRT.
Two pilots who downed a Russian jet last year are also among “the detained soldiers who attempted the coup,” said Turkish Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdag.
Gulen is a reclusive cleric who leads a popular movement called Hizmet, which includes hundreds of secular co-ed schools, free tutoring centers, hospitals and relief agencies credited with addressing many of Turkey’s social problems. Gulen supporters — known as Gulenists — describe the 75-year-old as a moderate Muslim cleric who champions interfaith dialogue.
Another Question for Merkel
Dear Chancellor Merkel, I have another question. Where are you going to put all the Turks who want to escape this madman?
Prior Questions Still Unanswered
My prior questions still have not been answered: Dear chancellor Merkel: When does Turkey join the EU? When do 80 million Turks have visa-free travel?
Dear chancellor Angela Merkel,
In light of events in Nice and Turkey, and given your migration policy is the #1 Reason the UK voted to Leave, inquiring minds have a few questions for you:
- When do 80 Million Turks have visa-free travel to the rest of Europe?
- When do you admit your open arms welcome of refugees was pure idiocy?
- When will you admit that thanks to German auto exports to the UK, that the UK actually has the upper hand in Brexit negotiations?
- When will you speak out on Erdogan’s takeover of the press, his military and judicial purge, and his silencing of all critics?
- What are you going to do about your misguided Pact With the Devil that left European leaders recoiling?
- Do you agree with Martin Schulz’s Tweet (below) on a return to a rule of law, separation of powers, and respect of fundamental rights in Turkey?
Bonus Questions
Dear chancellor, when do you admit you totally and completely screwed up in multiple ways?
Finally, What are you going to do about any of this except make ridiculous speeches in praise of the “European way” hoping against hope that fundamental problems correct themselves?

Merkel – See You Next Tuesday
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
This will end badly for Obama. If he does not hand over the cleric, the Islamic Terrorists will have their long knifes out for him. If Obama does turn over the cleric (like the good little moslem that Obama is) all American eyes are on him and will not forgive.
Hey man…screw that, I say leave the cleric here up in Mt. Pocono…I’m pretty close so I’ll have his back.
Bring it on Turkey! I’m gonna eat you for Thanksgiving!
USA! USA! USA!
I hear you Joe. If he did help, we don’t want moslem Obama to kill him by handing him over.
.
. Claimed Do Gooder Merkel is the same as Obama and the rest.
.
They will invite the uneducated and unskilled in language and vocation immigrant
into YOUR neighborhood, but Never in their own.
.
They will have the illegal immigrant in your child’s school, but never in their child’s private school.
.
. They will have no plan and have no plan to employ. Their plan is to stick> 80 % male population in your neighborhood, with no women, limited education, limited language, and no employment, and no entertainment, and then they wonder why there is crime and rape. They are shocked by what is obvious to everyone else.

The “failed coup” is looking more and more like a Erdogan set up.
Just sayin’……
Remember Turkey was known as the old sick man of Europe for a long long time last century and the century before that….Hmmm…..I wonder why…….
“When viewed at the next quantum level of perspective, from
which the Earth is seen as an organism and humans are seen as
microorganisms, the human species looks like a menace to the planet.
In fact, the human race is looking a lot like a disease — comprised
of organisms excessively multiplying, mindlessly consuming, and
generating waste with little regard for the health and well-being of its
host — planet Earth”

If you believe this, your next logical step should be to kill yourself.
It sure looks like Erdogan is going “Full Pol Pot” now.
He has already pivoted to the East (apologized to Russia) and is now turning his back on Europe.
Mish is right – the refugee exodus will be epic, once the average Turk realizes what is actually going on.
With you on that – not at all sure how events will play out but the country is becoming so polarized that even if there is no further escalation many will be leaving .
The “one world government” concept is taking a beating slowly but surely!
As far as the cleric is concerned, it all depends on whether his extradition is worth more to Obama than his safe harbor in Pennsylvania was worth to the Clintons.
The moral of the story is never play with rattlesnakes cuz you gonna get bit.
If the insane visa-freedom for 80 million turks that Merkel agreed behind the back of other EU leaders would be in effect right now then EU-countries (mainly western European countries like Netherlands, Germany, France, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway which give free apartments and free money for the rest of their life to successful asylum seekers) would be welcoming 3-6 million turks as asylum seekers from moderate turkish turks and ataturk-followers and “gulenists” and all the people who fear Erdogan will start oppressing then in his power mad paranoia.
Erdogan is such a dictator, even has palaces costing more than 100 million dollars, that many would be given asylum and many others would get subsidiary protection residence permit so there would be 2-4 million turks staying permanently in welfare paying western european countries.
When Erdogan starts again his fights with turkish kurds, who number over 25 million, then there could have been another wave of 5-10 million turkish kurds seeking asylum in western europe.
Turkey must NEVER get visa-freedom with the rest of europe.
Merkel has gone completely insane and should be removed by her party CDU/CSU in a democratic fashion by electing a new party leader and therefore a new chancellor for Germany before she does another completely irresponsible rash choise without thinking about the consequences.
If one were to compare power mad dictator Erdogan and power mad chancellor Merkel then Merkel can arguably be called the crazier of the two.
So Mish will the US now fund the IS to overthrow Erdogan; the tactic which worked so well in Afganistan?
In the UK we are waiting with interest to see how Merkel reacts to facing a tough woman. Clearly, Merkel is going to be under increasing pressure now from Austria and points east. It could be that only Germany will be left with Holland as viable economies in the EU. Belgium never did count and Denmark and Sweden will probably follow the UK.
@David Wood — “In the UK we are waiting with interest to see how Merkel reacts to facing a tough woman….”
What do you mean waiting? Francois Hollande is a tough woman! 🙂
Turkey will be the first NATO member expelled.
Or to expel NATO .
Maybe this article contains some answers to the questions Mish has raised.
