After refusing to endorse Donald Trump Ted Cruz was literally booed off the stage at the Republican National Convention.
There are a number of video clips of this event circulating, but depending on where the microphones were placed, it is not always easy to hear the chants “endorse Trump” or the boos when he didn’t.

In the UK, we like to go on the occasional booze cruise, a drunken journey down the river.
Cruz’s refusal to endorse The Donald is getting more media attention than if he had made the endorsement. This free media exposure helps The Donald. The RNC is looking less like a bunch of stuffed shirts and more like a “professional wrestling” match, which resonates with Main Street.
It was he comment” VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE” that pissed people off. That was a direct plea not to vote for Trump and to divide the party. I am sure his former bosses loved it. He was given an opportunity to bring the party together and he did an Obama
Next year you will be saying he did a Trump whenever someone reneges on a promise or tries to weasel out of something he said or did. Or maybe you’ll be saying Trump did an Obama?
This shows the people that Trump Is the” Teflon Don ” Even after reviewing Cruz’s speech And giving it his approval. the fallout didn’t faze hiim. And it showed the people the real Cruz and He gave Ted all the rope to hang to himself. Trump knew from the start of the campaign what buttons to push to all contenders. It shows he willing to negotiate but he’s well aware of all the possible out comes before going in to negotiations. The big Mistake the politicals made not recognizing He not like them . He using his experience and the skills of a CEO and intends to administer the US Government like a Business. Washington has never had anyone consider the government is just other businesses. Trump does and he knows he only answers to the stockholders, the Taxpayers who elected him.
What is with this faux outrage? The Donald (or at least someone literate on his team) reviewed Cruz’s speech before he was allowed to give it. The Donald knew that he could get the NY delegation to play it up for him and make some noise.
I am glad that Cruz would not endorse someone that personally attacked him and his wife. It at least shows some measure of character. I am still disappointed with Ben Carson that he would support someone that basically called him a pedophile.
I was no Cruz supporter, and am still not, but I am not a believer that one should automatically endorse a party nominee that one thinks would be a disaster if elected. I believe that if Trump is elected, he will lead us into a global depression, which in turn is likely to lead to world war.
Half truths, agendas, calls to tribalism, the deification of false and outmoded ideologies and the unmitigated drive for power, this is what party politics has wrought. No where from either major party does the Wisdom of integration of truths, workabilities and applicabilities truly exist. Hence we will have no significant and necessary change, and our politics will remain nothing more than another distraction and the extremely poor theater on display in Cleveland.
I have to say I like this quote about the booing last night, as well:
“Trump supporters could have minimized the moment, but their pettiness got the better of them. “Telling Republicans to ‘vote their conscience’ can only be an affront to the GOP if they’re admitting a vote for Trump violates conscience,” wrote Cruz supporter and radio host Steve Deace.”
“We must make the most of our moment – to fight for freedom, to protect our God-given rights, even of those with whom we don’t agree, so that when we are old and gray . . . and our work is done . . . and we give those we love one final kiss goodbye . . . we will be able to say, ‘Freedom matters, and I was part of something beautiful.’ – See more at: https://www.conservativereview.com/commentary/2016/07/full-text-of-cruzs-speech-trump-supporters-didnt-want-you-to-hear#sthash.fhCQOZTn.dpuf
Most righteous words likely to be spoken in either convention.
Identifies our bedrock value – individual liberty, based on rights derived from nature, and draws contrast with the primary evil of Trump, that Trump recognizes no rights in those whom he and his supporters disagree with, fear or just dislike
Too bad Cruz doesn’t consistently walk the talk. Still, thank you , Ted, for, in Trump’s den of might-makes-right, standing up to ring the chimes of freedom.
When Ted Cruz is old and gray and has his little grandson on his knee and the grandson asks, “What did you do in the great culture wars of 2016, granddaddy”? Ted, like the losers Patton described, can say to him, “I shoveled shit in Cleveland”. He talked about voting your conscience and morals and liberty and all the political pablum, but he then had a hand in losing the war to those who have no conscience. Unforgivable piece of fawning, creepy garbage. A top-grade four flusher – full of empty boasting and unsuccessful bluffing.
Normally, I admire Texans. In this case, not at all.
Terd Cuz’s take on freedom is the same as all other politicians: the people are totally free to obey the two million laws and regulations of government.
Anyone expecting a Cruz endorsement of Trump is in la la land. A pledge to support the nominee does not relieve said nominee of personal responsibility. Trump’s very personal attacks on Heidi Cruz and Rafael Cruz, not to mention Cruz himself, negated any fidelity to that pledge. Had Cruz endorsed Trump there would be validity to the accusation that he cares more about becoming President than he cares for his wife and father.
Cruz once again demonstrated that he is a candidate of substance and principle. His speech focused on Freedom and being true to one’s self. The fact that Trump’s supporters interpreted this as an slight to Trump instead of an endorsement shows that one has to swallow hard to support Trump.
Trump has done nothing to win the support of conservatives. His supporters have strengthened the power of the RNC chairman to the detriment of the grass roots. by voting with the RNC during the rules committee. I see nothing to support here.
Trump has done nothing to win the support of conservatives.
He is not Hillary.
Instead of appealing to the religious wrong, warmonger idiots like Cruz, Trump should have adopted a moderate stance on lots of things. He would have won easily.
The conservatives are not going to vote for Hillary, except perhaps the extreme warmongers. She is after all one of them.
This is a battle for the independents and the Reagan democrats. Pence is not a good way to go about things. Ted Cruz can go to hell as far as I am concerned. Someone like him could never have won.
Nice integration of political insights. Now if you’d do the same thing with your economic theories you’d be able to endorse Wisdomics/Gracenomics with its stabilizing policies of a universal dividend and deflationary discount and so be equally as wise.
“Trump should have adopted a moderate stance on lots of things. He would have won easily.”
I don’t know whether a moderate stance would have helped in the primaries.
To my recollection:
News sources selected photos of Carter straight on and serious. (empathetic)
After Nixon’s brashness it sold.
News sources selected photos of Reagan strong chinned at a favorable angle. (strong)
After Carter’s weakness it sold.
News sources selected photos of Bush 1 downward angled with a forced smile. (grandfatherly)
After reagan’s success it was all he needed.
News sources selected photos of B Clinton grinning at a favorable angle. (wise)
After Bush’s boringness it sold.
News sources selected photos of GWB with his mouth open and squeezed brows. (confused)
He could only have beaten the pitiful candidates the other party presented him.
News sources selected photos of Obama upward-sideways angled with a distant stare. (visionary)
After Bush anything would have sold.
News sources are selecting photos of Trump upward-straight with jabbing fingers and angry eyes. (dangerous)
News sources are selecting photos of H Clinton with gentle fists and friendly smiles. (cozy)
These impressions must be distorted by my sentiment, but they still look that way on Google images. Younger Carter is strangely hard to find. My Trump/Clinton descriptions are inescapable.
We (should) know that NONE of these humans are stupid. Despite every hatred upon him, W probably has a top 0.5% IQ. Even rich idiots don’t get there. If you are reading this the odds you’re smarter than W are minuscule.
We (should) know that NONE of these humans are weak. Despite partisan disdain, Carter would tear a small time congressman’s figurative spleen out. Even lovable wimps don’t make it to presidential candidate status.
So the photos should not matter. I think they have a “HUUUGE” effect on the public.
I think the Trump/Clinton themes selected with the photo pickers’ liberal tendency (in my opinion, but take an honest look) won’t work as desired because “Trump the angry monkey” comes across as genuine whether true or not. H Clinton the honest, spunky grandma screams as phoniness as soon as she speaks.
B Clinton carried “wise” by actually speaking wisely, or its cousin cleverly.
H Clinton can’t carry off “honest” or “cozy” with the dishonesty and combativeness she exudes in real time.
Trump may be equally dishonest and combative – that’s a different argument.
If Trump is smart enough to soften the edges of what he says at the appropriate times he could make this a run away. People are sick and tired of being sick and tired and most of the Reagan democrats and moderates in both parties will go for Trump because any change is better than no change in the eyes of the terminally sick and tired.
I’ll likely vote for Hillary simply because the next prez could appoint as many as 3 supreme court justices, but if Trump is again smart enough to be open to monetary reform that is integrative like my Wisdomics/Gracenomics he could free both the individual and every business model other than Finance while stabilizing the economy as AI transforms it and brings it fully into the 21st century, and that is even more important than having 21st century minds on the supreme court. If he awakened to that necessity he could become the greatest president since Lincoln and rival Washington. Of course Hillary could do the same thing, that’s how keystone monetary reform actually is.
Chdw, Do you realize Trump will nominate justices based on the Constitution . Did you hear him said No globalization.
Hillary has no Idea what the Constitution protects She is a shedder for her legacy and will do anything to get in office so She can avoid Jail. Why do you even post if your so emotional Negative toward capitalism on Economic site. Don’t you look at Trumps actions that have been documented for the last thirty some years?
Cruz reminds me of a 2nd grader who just lost a hop-scotch competition. What a sore loser. By refusing to endorse Trump Cruz is effectively endorsing Hitlery.
The Texas delegation should tell Lyin’ Ted to eat a bowl of Wheaties and grow the heck up.
Trump is in a perfect position. A few points behind Hitlery in the polls. This is where he started in the GOP primary. Trump is a strong finisher. Hitlery is a mud runner. And there’s not a drop of rain in the forecast.
Is Nate Silver still making political election predictions or did he retire after the GOP primary? Hopefully he’s picking Hitlery. That way I know I’m on the right track.
When the GOP endorsed Gerry Ford over Reagan, Reagan made a speech about issues he felt the status quo wasn’t handling properly. He didn’t disparage Ford or whine and make excuses about the outcome. He gave a speech that was 1000x better than what Ford could ever hope to make. It made lots of delegates say, “oops, we picked the wrong guy”.
When Infant Cruz was on stage last night, his speech was all about himself and what a sore loser he is. The game was rigged in his favor, he still managed to lose, and now the guy is throwing a temper tantrum? Its making everyone realize, “Good thing we didn’t pick that loser Cruz”
Are we surprised? A “man with no country” has no loyalties to any country at all. Theodore Cruz gave up his Canuck citizenship in 2014 and can’t even prove that he is merely a plain old vanilla, 14th Amendment U.S. citizen…much less a “natural born” citizen of the once-Republic as required by the U.S. Constitution to run for POTUS.

Never have I been more proud to have supported Senator Cruz. In fact, I made a contribution to his 2018 Senatorial re-election campaign today.
Under RNC rule 40 (b) Senator Cruz had the right to not only speak at the convention, but to have his name placed in nomination and to have up to three speakers speak on his behalf. He elected not to enforce this rule.
Trump had prior knowledge (at least 3 days) that Cruz was not going to endorse him, and yet, he still asked him to speak – why? He had his acolytes ready to disrupt and boo Senator Cruz and of course Trump picked the perfect time to enter the arena before the end of Cruz’ speech. Trump’s media surrogates also ginned up controversy knowing Cruz was not going to endorse Trump.
Anyone who believes Cruz should have endorsed Trump is without principle in my humble opinion. Trump viciously attacked Heidi Cruz and Rafael Cruz. Had Cruz endorsed Trump after such personal attacks, he would have shown himself to place raw ambition over his obligations to his family. Indeed Trump had no right to expect an endorsement given his vicious attacks against Cruz’ family.
A pledge to support the nominee does not give said nominee carte blanche to say and do anything and to receive a free pass when he engages in brutal personal attacks on a candidates family.
Please listen to the speech. It was a very positive speech. Cruz never trashed Trump. He said to vote your conscience, vote for those you trust to defend our freedom.
Well, I don’t have an ounce of trust in Trump. Trump has appointed Steve Munchin to head his fund raising and is reportedly wanting him as Treasury Secretary.; Muchin is a left wing Democrat, a former George Soros and Goldman Sach employee. Trump’s plans to enact protectionist tariffs, expand subsidies for favored industries, etc do not bode well for our country. In my humble opinion, no supporter of the Constitution could vote for either Trump or Hillary. As Cruz said, Vote your conscience.
Senator Cruz showed himself to be a man of principle, and I am a proud supporter of his now and for any future office. Cruz is a man of honor – Trump is not. Fall for Trump’s staging of this controversy if you must, but realize this was all orchestrated by the RNC and Trump.
Cruz is a total loser. A complete zero. A previous commenter mentoned that Cruz PLEDGED during the primary to endorse the eventual nominee. So Cruz is showing his true colors AGAIN – a bald-faced LIAR. A whiner and a liar. I’d be shocked if the Texans reelect him to the senate. He’s destroyed his own political career.
Trump gave an outstanding acceptance speech at the Convention tonight. He nailed it on all points. Even Michael Moore said that Trump will be our next President.
Everything Trump said about Hillary was the honest-to-God truth. He crucified her tonight.
Hillary carries more baggage than an Airbus a320 filled to capacity. Trump will walk all over her.
In the UK, we like to go on the occasional booze cruise, a drunken journey down the river.
The US booze cruise sounds far more sobering.
Please translate your comments into American English.

He disgraced himself. Looks very small minded
He’s had more than his 15 minutes of “fame.”
In fact he owes Andy Warhol’s estate several minutes back.
one scumbag refused to endorse another scumbag
Or…
…the Loser refused to endorse the Winner. Which is how most Americans will view this.
Remember Cruz has broken his signed contract with the GOP.
That is actionable, as in he can be sued out of existence……….
Hillary is the GREATER SCUMBAG. I will vote for President Trump.
LOCK HER UP. LOCK HER UP. LOCK HER UP!
Cruz’s refusal to endorse The Donald is getting more media attention than if he had made the endorsement. This free media exposure helps The Donald. The RNC is looking less like a bunch of stuffed shirts and more like a “professional wrestling” match, which resonates with Main Street.
Likewise, copying the First Sasquach’ speech format kept Hillary out of the news for three days.
Yep – the less “establishment” the RNC looks, the better it plays with Main St.
More “top rope” & suplexes… less lobbying & graft. Hitting america’s WWF sweet spot.
Whether luck or genius, it’s clear that DT knows America better than every other candidate.
Seems like “lying Ted ‘ was a good label
It was he comment” VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE” that pissed people off. That was a direct plea not to vote for Trump and to divide the party. I am sure his former bosses loved it. He was given an opportunity to bring the party together and he did an Obama

Cruz is dead meat. Stick a fork in him and return to his native land of birth – Canada!
Touche!
JReal, every U.S. citizen should be required to read your comment.
Expect the Republican Party to freeze out president Trump the same way the Democratic Party did to Jimmy Carter.
It will backfire… just like ALL of the GOPe tactics/strategies against Trump have backfired.
The Dems didn’t gain anything by freezing-out Carter… his failures are their failures to this day.
It’s most odd, isn’t it, seeing a politician doing what he believes is right, rather than what is politically expedient?
If Cruz believes what he’s doing is “right”, then his judgement is waaaaaaay off.
I think Cruz was trying to be politically expedient (not “right”), but again is judgement is waaaaaay off…
Either way, Cruz shit the bed. Very poor judgement that may cost him dearly down the road…
I was no Cruz supporter, and am still not, but I am not a believer that one should automatically endorse a party nominee that one thinks would be a disaster if elected. I believe that if Trump is elected, he will lead us into a global depression, which in turn is likely to lead to world war.

Steve Deace = Sour Grapes
Considering that that would be a violation of whose conscience – a neocon’s?
Wouldn’t that be a good thing to do in light of their malformed consciences?

The winning candidate MUST be:
against illegal immigration
against TPP
against status quo foreign policy (occupation & warmongering)
an advocate for Main. St.
Trump is winning because of these KEY issues.
Outside of these KEY issues, Trump is moderate.
Conservatives/Repubs have nothing to complain about… DT is the best/most viable candidate from the Right since Reagan, period.

Here’s another take on Trump’s acceptance speech.
