Last year, over one million refugees poured into Germany. Chancellor Angela Merkel said,“Wir schaffen das” — “We can do it.”
These refugees were supposed to start an economic boom.
The actual results show far more German women were raped or assaulted by the refugees than found employment at the thirty largest German companies.
National Public Radio (NPR) reports Despite Early Optimism, German Companies Hire Few Refugees.
A year ago, as Germany opened its borders to a surge of migrants and refugees, Chancellor Angela Merkel said,”Wir schaffen das” — “We can do it.”
Many expected that the influx of new arrivals would help Germany’s economy, already the strongest in Europe. Big players in German business were enthusiastic. Dieter Zetsche, the CEO of Daimler, the big car maker, predicted a new “economic miracle.” Frank Appel, the CEO of Deutsche Post, the huge courier company, praised the additional value for the labor market that the refugees would bring.
But the miracle hasn’t happened. One out of three German companies says it plans to hire refugees this year or next. But only 7 percent of all German firms have actually done so in the last 24 months, according to the Institute for Economic Studies in Munich, which polled managers earlier this year.
The assumption was that asylum seekers would primarily include people with relatively high education levels, comparable to German degrees. But in fact, many who arrived are unskilled and can understand neither English nor German. [What jackass made that assumption?]
And a grand total of 54 refugees have managed to find employment with the country’s biggest 30 companies, according to a survey in June by the daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Fifty of them are employed by Deutsche Post.
Results Speak For Themselves
On New Years evening alone as many as 1,200 women were molested in sexual attacks.
Yeah, “we can do this”.
Mike “Mish” Shedlock
Mish, the refugee infusion was never about augmenting Germany’s workforce. You know that. I know that. Angela knew that as did the captains of industry in Germany. Nor was it to be expected that these newcomers would be fluent or even conversant in any other than their own native languages. That is obvious in the very name by which they are called, “refugees”, those who are seeking refuge. Anyone with the fixed intent of settling in Germany, working there and raising their family there had already prepared for that event, had marketable skill sets, adequate general and higher education including at least the foundations for fluency in the host language. They would have been called immigrants and would have emigrated from their home country in some sort of orderly fashion and, with the slightest bit of foresight, in advance of the refugee hoard and with some savings in hand. Angela, her government, her controlled press and the captains of industry know these things.
Therefore, something else is afoot! Something else i very much afoot! Something very, very “else”! It would be glib to speak of it as the suicide of the West or to invoke Faust or Wagner or Nietzsche’s Zarathustra. To do so would be perhaps quite accurate but it would be glib: it does not answer the question, Why? Add the Swedes and the French in and it is not an answer at all: they have no tradition of self-immolation yet are following the same path as Germany.
Look a bit further afield and we see the same thing happening with the American Federal Reserve: it’s actions are consistent with the suicide of the world economy. No one will walk away from this whole. Look to the Balkan and Polish fools who crowd their countries with NATO’s aggressive weapons and make of themselves. . .targets, targets for certain nuclear annihilation . And to what end?
And to what end? The suicide of the West serves no one’s interest. Yet, at best, we get news articles noting that 54 out of one million refugees got jobs with Germany’s largest employers. I appreciate your effort in bringing this statistic to light but that isn’t the story. The story is What on Earth Is Going On? Whether you or I make a few coins in the short term is of no consequence. What is of consequence is the spectre that the entire west will look like the slums of Bombay.
Bombay has a Bugatti dealership. With enough money, you can drift into the showroom and buy a Bugatti in Bombay. Question: Where on earth in India would you drive a Bugatti? Being rich is no fun unless you have a vibrant economy in a vibrant civilization. Otherwise, it’s like gong nightclubbing in Berlin in February, 1945.
What is going on?
Muslim refugees and illegal aliens will vote as a block for the party of bigger and bigger government. Here in America that is the democrat party.
Until they can vote for sharia law or La Raza..
Until that time, democrats will be in power.
And that is what it is all about.
Optimism without logic. Ignorance of history. Inability to see outside your own world view. Belief in ideas more important than seeking truth.
Or maybe the people “in charge” see the writing on the wall. China is about to step up to Japan-level quality manufacturing (if the Chinese government doesn’t screw it up). The US is about to do the same thing with automation and lights-out factories (again, if the US regulators don’t screw it up). The 10,000 ft view says throw cheap bodies at assembly plants to get margins up, and tax the heck out of wages for retirees and try to keep your kids on top of the food chain. When that doesn’t work, well, there’s always conscription and preparing for war…
In regards to Japan-level quality manufacturing, China? Really? Where did you dream this up? It will be 50, 100 years before that ever happens, if ever, regardless of their government’s missteps. Even under threat of unemployment & beatings the Chinese cannot manufacture at that level, it’s not in them whereas the Japanese have cultivated this culture for centuries.
I worked in loudspeaker manufacturing for several years. We imported parts from China. Sample runs were perfect. 1st orders had a 50% failure rate. 2nd orders had a 50% failure rate. On to the next supplier … perfect sample runs … 50% failure rates thereafter. Every single supplier. Fucking scammers.
I would have to spend days applying epoxy to these parts just to salvage their value. I have nothing but contempt for the Chinese. Japanese-level manufacturing my ass.
Wow. Racist much?
Sorry, that wasn’t appropriate. But you comment reminded me of all the people who derided Japanese manufacturing in the 1970s as junk. 10 years later and Japan had not only caught up to US manufacturing, they were well along the way to surpass it. Don’t think that just because China isn’t there yet they’ll never be there. With so many people, it should be fairly easy to find several million workers who are motivated to produce a high quality product.
Kojeg, it’s not in their culture to strive for perfection like the Japanese. Just DGAF is the culture in China. Even in 100 years and with large, homegrown Chinese industries I seriously doubt they will have closed the gap. Foreign manufacturers will have long abandoned their labor force by then probably back to the USA as we will all be serfs & slaves.
My answer is ‘guilt’. The switch of the left from workers to middle class/bourgeois has meant oppression is not a valid emotional driver anymore. For non-proletariats to become lefties, the ideology had to be based on a sense of guilt: for polluting the planet, for letting poor people exist, for not eating healthy, for keeping fit, for marginalizing other cultures, for the extinction of species, and on top of that –in the case of Germany– for the Holocaust.
We are surrounded, pervaded by guilt. Political correctness is a form of guilt. Green activism, Obama, Cameron, welfare society, you name it. We are living in the era of guilt. And guilt, as everybody knows, may lead to self-inflicted damage. In extreme cases, to suicide.
Absolutely. This is not about oppression in the traditional sense but self destruction and painful submission as a result of years of guilt indoctrination. Layer on hopelessness that a dying economy provides and you can accelerate this trend ten fold. We see young people today so loaded with guilt from their media and educators, and seeing no economic future (and it’s not just about money, it’s about excelling and enjoying accomplishments in life) choosing suicide rather than living with it all. For all the rest it is simply succumbing to the theme, giving up, wallowing in apathy and what material consumption they can still afford….or taking to the streets in violent retribution. This is NOT going to get better…anywhere.
Guilt, yes. But not only guilt. Outrage also. You’re on to something with the guilt-leading-to-self-inflicted-damage idea. But that’s not all that’s going on.
Guilt? GUILT? These are politicians you’re psychoanalyzing. No politician feels guilt because no psychopath feels guilt. It’s a definitional thing: Psychopaths don’t feel guilt. Politicians are psychopaths. Therefore, politicians don’t feel guilt. You may disagree with the minor premise but to do so would fly in the face of virtually all human experience.
Ricky was talking of the population.
Fail:
OK Macon. You got me thinking. What is going on? Mish and other Austrians think it’s a doomed economic system and erosion of liberty. Do you have any other ideas?
At least rape adds to GDP.
Remember that Germany is under pressure. 80% debt to GDP. Immigration invoice to come. Germany has benefited from a weak € which has helped exports, but Bundesbank has been forced to finance more than € 600 bn of exports via the backdoor, i.e. Target 2. So € 600 bn of exports has been done with 100% sellers credit. Will Spain and Italy and Greece ever be able to reimburse € 600 bn to Bundesbank/Germany? Most of Germany´s EU clients are broke. And the one who is not, the UK, they want to punish.
So if you look under the bonnet of that shiny BMW you find a weak engine.
Take a close look at Target 2 imbalances and you will understand what is going on behind closed doors.
George Soros, through his NGOs, was instrumental in getting the word out to the Syrians that they should flood into Europe. He believes in an open society with no borders, globalization, one-world government. This billionaire is absolutely everywhere right now, advising the Clinton’s, funding Black Lives Matter, funding all sorts of groups.
I don’t think this is all coming from him. I’d like to know who is funding him.
Soros at the forefront of Bilderberg agenda.
Tony – yes, I think so. He’s the front man for some big money controlling things from afar.
But, I thought welfare spending added to GDP? Isn’t increasing that segment good for the “Economy?”
Those foreigners need to be removed.
Race war is coming to Germany and Europe.
There’s no way around it.
If the US is suppying the arms, then it fits Obama/Clinton agenda. It fits the globalists agenda, as it destroys culture and installs a system that ensires that the globalists hold the monopoly on food, water, and police protection. It fits the islamic ideala to dominate and take over Europe. Gee, did I leave anything apparent out?
“First, a study by Gerhard Heilig, former Chief of the Population Estimates and Projections Section at the UN, has dismissed as mind-boggling and absurd the notion that immigration could solve Europe’s demographic problems.
Germany, for example, over the next 90 years would need to increase its current population from 82 million to 490 million by bringing in 261 million immigrants, simply to maintain the current old-age dependency ratio.
It’s obvious to any sane person that such a policy would be economically catastrophic and self-defeating because immigrants, amazingly, also grow old and become dependent on the state. What then, import another 261 million?”
German President Joachim Gauck booed by German people:
What is sovereignty?
To my view it is an extension of what you or I would call the private domain, and that would be our homes and associated land. That is where the individual and his ideas (should) rule and feel free, within the constraint of not harming others.
There is a legal overlap that entitles society to intervene if harm is judged to be being caused in private company, a variable, that may expand from only direct intervention in case of violence, through to laying down obligations and persecuting the company for their failure to meet them the latter easily being understood, in its extreme, as a means to reach empowerment over the sovereign will of the individual.
The checks and balances of this system require the understanding of sovereignty, that is, who is master of what. Sovereignty of actions is fully owned by the individual, all that is conceded to others is understood as voluntary, whether coerced or reasoned or not. The existing concessions towards others or society may be withdrawn at any time.
It so follows that those who proclaim sovereignty over a land are representatives of the status quo of hierarchy of responsibility with regards its domestic adjustment and implementation, and with regards to its interaction as a whole with other surrounding sovereigns.
There are clear delimitations of jurisdiction, called borders, that have taken centuries of conflict to agree over, that contain the will of the various sovereigns, their remaining culture and society. It is ALL THEY HAVE.
And yet, we find this push to obliterate the hard fought legacy we are handed. My ancestors, throughout evolution, have fought and succeeded, allowing me to exist here. Do you imagine the suffering that has been endured to achieve this.
The means to this is relatively simple – hypocracy. We are told that national sovereignty is an illusion. It is. It is an illusion to the ability of several tens, even hundreds, of millions of people to half organize themselves in mostly peaceful competition. In return we are offered the illusion that by foresaking national sovereignty, and hence the whole existing structure of understanding that it represents, to a new ideal, humanity, governed by supra sovereign intentions that have nothing better by way of clarity to offer than ‘ humanity’ , whatever that might be interpreted as meaning, we will achieve some form of enlightened progress. It is as if the individual is having their own humanity questioned in the process, and naturally threatened, by an authority so disconected and preprogrammed that it may act without the slightest consideration to the existing sovereign order, in the name of that ‘humanity’. The illusion contained in this approach is the menace that salvation will not be shared without the acceptance of a higher order able to rearrange the balances of success, the illusion is that we have it wrong.
Look at EU, what was a functioning relationship between individual nations has been replaced by an attempted common theme that has left Europe disjointed and individual nations incapable of action. The same awaits all other efforts of this nature which are not actively sought from ground level, but introduced from a national sovereign perspective. It must be tempting for those who seek power to aim for the highest authority around, and to attempt to persuade society into a fact, but the introduction of this evolutive mentality on a population top down is a false attempt at what should be a slow and natural interaction between sovereigns that would self establish the level of homogeneity and interaction desirable or constructive.
I leave you with the words of our latest global rep. :
Peter Sutherland, the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for International Migration, declared that “sovereignty is an absolute illusion that has to be put behind us.”
“I will ask the governments to cooperate, to recognize that sovereignty is an illusion — that sovereignty is an absolute illusion that has to be put behind us. The days of hiding behind borders and fences are long gone. We have to work together and cooperate together to make a better world. And that means taking on some of the old shibboleths, taking on some of the old historic memories and images of our own country and recognizing that we’re part of humankind.”
“Refugees are the responsibility of the world. They’re the responsibility of the United States, of Canada, of Latin America and of Asia, as well as Europe. Proximity doesn’t define responsibility.”
Sutherland continued by drawing upon the standard progressive narrative that anyone who disagrees that “sovereignty is an absolute illusion” is just “racist and xenophobic, and [ought] to be condemned.” Wow, won’t you please tell us how you really feel?
“[But] in the European debate, there have been areas, there’ve been pockets of political activism, which I consider to be racist and xenophobic, and [ought] to be condemned.”

“Special Representative “?
Special has always meant retarded to me.
Still does.
Why are these people not locked up?
No big deal.
I heard they were all here to gratefully wipe our butts when we are old.
They can stand down for a while.
[What jackass made that assumption?]
A globalist.
This was never about helping Germany. All about flattening borders.
Tony – yes, I think you’re right. They want to do away with sovereignty, nations, borders. It’s all part of the one-world government. No culture, no diversity, no countries.
They don’t want to do away with sovereignty. That is impossible when it comes to humans. They want to CONSOLIDATE sovereignty.
…As crash test dummies.
Well, at least give the old bitty credit – Merkel spoke the slogan ‘We can do it…’ in German “Wir schaffen das…”
On the contrary Obama spoke his slogan ‘Yes we can’ in Spanish “Si Se Puede…”.
Which leads me to conclude that America is more screwed up than Germany.
Trump should be using that statistic as hillary and obama keep bringing in more and more Islamic “refugees” (terrorists) into the US.
Looks like we found the Syrian 1%ers.
