The largest ever humanitarian program in the history of the EU, is now underway in Turkey.
The humanitarian effort comes in the form of a $393 million helicopter drop of Debit Cards and Cash to Refugees in Turkey as Part of Migration Deal.
As many as one million refugees in Turkey will receive debit cards and monthly cash transfers to help pay for food and housing under a new €348 million ($393 million) humanitarian program from the European Union announced on Thursday.
The EU’s largest-ever humanitarian program is part of a €3 billion package of assistance the bloc promised Turkey to support some three million refugees the country hosts, mainly from Syria.
“The European Union is keeping its promise to assist Turkey in hosting the largest refugee population in the world,” Mr. Stylianides said. When it comes to humanitarian assistance, “our cooperation with Turkish authorities has been excellent,” he added.
The new EU aid program will be overseen by the World Food Program, in cooperation with the Turkish Red Crescent. Each family’s need will be assessed individually and there are additional funds available for education or supporting elderly family members, Mr. Stylianides said.
Ertharin Cousin, the WFP’s executive director, said the debit-card project “is an exciting step forward.”
“The money spent by the refugees will go directly into local economies, giving a boost to communities so generously hosting refugees,” she added.
Of the €3 billion pledged, the EU has now earmarked projects valued at €2.2 billion for Turkey’s refugees, including humanitarian aid and programs to provide health, education and other services for migrants.
Of that amount, €652 million has been contracted and €181 million has been spent.
How Far Will €3 billion Go?
The EU pledged €3 billion. There are 3 million refugees.
If no more refugees arrive (fat chance), and none of the money disappears down some graft-hole (fat chance), then each refugee will get €1,000.
Exciting First Step
This is indeed an “exciting step”. Let’s look ahead at the logical progression of following steps.
Step-by-Step Progression
- More refugees will seek free handouts.
- Turkey will complain €3 billion is not enough.
- The refugees will complain €1,000 is not enough.
- EU citizens will wonder why refugees are getting €1,000 and they are not.
- Demands for an EU-wide helicopter drop of free debit cards will soar.
- The amounts demanded will soar.
- Some economist will propose the debit cards will expire if not used quickly.
- And then, and then ….
Point eight requires an explanation: Under Eurozone rules the ECB cannot simply print money and give it away. Countries have budget constraints.
So, either taxes go up to pay for the scheme, or the EMU rules have to change.
Place your bets. More excitement is sure to follow.

This sounds like an April fool’s joke.
And I thought Mish was trialling an article for The Onion.
Damn, Mish … not leaving us much to add 🙂
But I wonder which bank(s) will be issuing the debit cards … and what their fees are?
No way the parasitical banksters won’t have their fingerprints on this program somehow someway.
If you want to “get ‘er done” without anyone being the wiser…
I would highly recommend Wells Fargo:

I saw a few words on this scroll by on Bloomberg TV during lunch today…

Wait….what’s that you say?
We destroyed their country by bombing the living shit out of it?
Rut rho…Magic 8-Ball says, GTFON
The EU citizens are left behind for the elitist plan to enslave everybody. It goes like this: Government tries something and gets away with it, so they try even more outrageous crap until they finally hit resistance. Reassure the peasants, let some time elapse and continue the increasingly crushing burden. Then sit back and wonder why people are revolting.

Check out the “Shitlord” magazine cover at voxday.blogspot.com…I think that Duterte would have a different solution to this problem…..
re Duterte…today we were talking to our postman who is Philippino, although now an American citizen. I happened to ask what he thought about the new President – Duterte -and all the drug lords he’s killed as he promised before he was elected. Our postie gave a massive fist of approval and said Yeah!!! it had to be done. The Phillipines (sp?) is awash in drugs, there is no other industry, it is very bad. From the police, to the judges, to corporations, politicians, everyone is involved in it and the country is heading downhill because everybody is buying, selling or dealing in drugs. We talked about Duterte’s insult to Obama and he handfisted again – “it needed to be said. Look at the money the US has thrown at the drug trade for decades and nothing has changed, look at Mexico?” My husband mentioned that his US (former military) friend was married to a Filippino woman, and they regularly sent money home to her family there. Our Postie said, that’s how many of them live, “I send money home to my family too, I don’t know any Fillipino here in the States in my circle, who doesn’t support their family and kin back home. It was quite an eye opener for us to hear it “from the horses mouth” so to speak. I remember years ago telling him about sending a package to Cyprus and the boondoggle that ensued. He said: you’re lucky you didn’t send it to the Phillipines, it would never have been delivered!!!!!
UK is paying over 300 mn towards this.

The EC adds the missing bn.
Whatever those in charge are thinking, this will be understood by many people in Europe as a direct and purposeful provocation.
Meanwhile in France…
” Hollande said France also needed to create “a national association in order to obtain financing for the building of mosques and the training of imams.” ”
He wants an ‘Islam of France’ in responce to being attacked.

What a stupid F*&%$% program!
What would happen if you tossed a 100 pounds of meat bones out of a chopper to a group of various dogs on the ground. The biggest and strongest dogs would end up with all the meat bones. God almighty, humans are not different from dogs, except in some cases the dogs are more intelligent. The biggest and strongest humans will end up with all the cards and use them to extort the smallest and the weakest who need the cards the most!
ha. These so-called leaders are as dumb as dog-squeeze. It’s embarrassing to even read these articles. Sometimes I abhor belonging to the human race.
They are not dumb… they have an end purpose and a matching narrative to cover mislead us.
Well, as long as it’s not US tax dollars being used to finance the card I really don’t give a rat’s behind.
But if I ever found out that Obama ponied up some US funds for the program I’d be livid.
War is business , politics always looks for its place , its leverage .
Don’t get me wrong , I don’t agree to leaving people to starve , not helping create war would be a start , refugee camps are a fair discipline , if not slightly miserable for the inhabitants , and a miserable reflection of any ‘failed’ western policy with regards to peace … that would generate unwanted public pressure .
Reading about the current framework , and the clips below obviously aren’t a complete picture , it seems like refugees , finance and economy are being meshed into their own layer across the region … something that would merge with migration to Europe and other regional events .
That said , and without wanting to actually make you livid , here is some on US aid … and obviously only one facet of the geopolitical framework under action . As I cannot place many links in one post , I will remove the www. :
“With USG support, WFP will continue to provide … food voucher debit cards have injected $1.25 billion into the economies of Syria’s neighbors, creating economic benefits for the nations and communities hosting refugees” state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2016/02/252113.htm
“Through electronic cards, known as SCOPE cards, WFP is providing both cash and voucher assistance to people in need, allowing them to choose and buy their own food from local shops across the country.
“The SCOPE system allows WFP to provide food assistance in a flexible manner to adapt to the rapidly changing situation in the country. It can be used to redeem cash or as an electronic voucher and in areas where food is not available in the market, it can be used to collect actual food from WFP distribution points. It also supports local Iraqi food retailers.” wfp.org/news/news-release/wfp-launches-cash-cards-displaced-families-and-syrian-refugees-iraq
“The latest tranche of funding from the United States totaled more than $577 million dollars of which $122 million was directed to UNHCR’s Syria Regional Refugee and Resilience Plan.
The total US contribution also includes $75.9 million earmarked specifically for UNHCR work responding to the needs of people forcibly displaced in and from Iraq.
Speaking at an international pledging conference for Iraq in Washington on Wednesday, US Secretary of State John Kerry underlined the importance of support for humanitarian and development work in Iraq.
“It’s in our interests to make these urgently required investments because every one of us here knows that what happens in Iraq has an impact on all of our countries,” Kerry said.” unhcr.org/uk/news/press/2016/7/579127574/un-refugee-agency-grateful-for-latest-us-funding-contribution.html

“At the Syria donors conference in London last week, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry announced an additional $601 million in U.S. humanitarian assistance for Syrians and nearly $300 million in U.S. development funding for Syria’s neighbors affected by the crisis. The United States is the largest donor to this effort, providing more than $5.1 billion in humanitarian aid since the Syria crisis began.” devex.com/news/syria-not-just-a-humanitarian-crisis-but-a-development-one-too-87732
“The UN agency needs $9 million each month to provide hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees in the country with food aid, she said.
It had, in cooperation with the Turkish government, been providing 220,000 refugees with electronic vouchers in the form of debit cards credited with money, allowing them to purchase the food and supplies they need in stores.” dailymail.co.uk/wires/afp/article-2983047/UN-shrinks-food-aid-Syria-refugees-Turkey-cash-low.html
” The choice of how WFP delivers assistance, whether by cash, vouchers, or food is made after numerous assessments to determine which approach the most appropriate is, given the context. Cash is not necessarily a simpler or cheaper way of providing assistance. WFP chose to provide assistance through vouchers following consultation with partners (especially the Government) and carrying out financial infrastructure assessments. However, WFP is constantly re-assessing the situation, and WFP do not rule out a move to cash if it were to be more appropriate. In this regard, WFP in Lebanon and Jordan will start a cash assistance pilot which will better inform our programming. The pilot will involve Syrian families, who are existing beneficiaries and will be allowed to use e-cards to withdraw cash from an ATM or will have the option to either withdraw cash from an ATM or continue using a point-of-sale (POS) terminal for a period of six months. An external evaluation company will assist WFP with the study from the inception, through to implementation and follow-up stages.” ennonline.net/fex/48/wfpevoucher
But Angela Merkel assured us that the refugees have not taken away a single Euro from the average German.
This might be hypertechnically true, but if you read the fine print it would disclaim this statement with something to the effect of, “payments and support to the refugees have not reduced the current benefits enjoyed by German citizens, but at some point in the future the increased supply of and demand for such benefits enjoyed by both Germans and their new guests and dependents will without question strain the system, leading to increased taxes for those who still pay taxes and a higher probability of reduction of benefits for those who receive benefits as the goose that lays the golden eggs to pay for those benefits dies in exhaustion.
Perpetual Welfare Machines can’t exist.
Guarantees that those in power lose their jobs come the 2017 elections.
It seems that there are no budgetary constraints when it comes to dropping bombs drone warfare. So evidently blowing things and people up is very ‘productive’. Just another helicopter drop?
How about ‘helicopter drops’ of Syrian refugees into Saudi Arabia, Dubai UAE etc.?
Definitely would be cheaper in the long run + no longer an EU problem.
Here Here!
That’s the best darn idea of the week so far.
And make sure each refugee is equipped with a copy of the Koran and has on a t-shirt with the stenciled words: “Allah sent me”.
The Greeks have to love this.
… not everyday you get to be a privileged humanitarian .

Bankers caused the refugee crisis by printing food inflation, which the Mid East poor could not afford. Now bankers are pretending to solve the refugee crisis by using the printing press to confiscate European pensions (which European retirees can’t afford), and printing additional food inflation to boot.
If bankers would just stop printing, people would be better off. Divers weights and measures are counter productive.
Refugees to use debit cards for food and housing? Har Dee Har Har. It will go for hookers and blow
Crap, looks like I got off on the wrong planet again! *^&%$#@!!
What? You don’t like the Planet of the Subhumans?
What exciting step! They are spending EU people’s monies
> indiscriminately and as they please for their political dirty ends.
> And then they criticise the British people for kicking the EU membership. The more I hear of acts like this the more I confirm to myself that I voted correctly to leave the EU.
