Mexico has built a wall against migrants, on its Southern border, with funding from the Obama Administration.
It’s not a physical wall. Rather it’s more like the EU’s bribery scheme in which the EU pays Turkey €3 billion to halt the flow of refugees heading to Greece.
“The current policy is to arrest migrants to stop them from getting to the US border,” says a coordinator for a shelter in Mexico City. The majority are quickly deported back to dangerous homes.
Mexico’s Wall
Wall Hypocrisy
As pressure builds for measures to stem flow of refugees from Central America heading to the US, Mexico Builds its Own Wall Against Migrants.
Donald Trump wants a wall on America’s southern border to keep illegal immigrants out. But for people such as Rosa, whose husband, mother, sister, brother-in-law and two nephews were murdered in her native Honduras by gangs who then tried to recruit her 14-year-old son, Mexico already acts as a formidable barrier.
Rosa, who asked for her full name not to be used, fled with her two teenage sons only to find herself trapped in a political controversy that the US Republican candidate has put at the heart of his campaign.
Even without Mr Trump’s fortress frontier, Mexico finds itself under increasing pressure to stem the migrant tide near its source — its own southern border.
“Mexico has become a wall for migrants,” said Sister Magdalena Silva, co-ordinator of Cafemin, a privately run shelter in Mexico City that takes in refugee families, including Rosa’s. “The current policy is to arrest migrants to stop them from getting to the US border.”
The UN estimates 400,000 Central Americans cross illegally into Mexico each year and as many as half of those are fleeing violence. The majority are quickly deported back to dangerous homes.
Mexico deported a record 175,000 Central Americans last year, up 68 per cent from the previous year and nearly two-and-a-half times the number deported by the US.
The US is coy about its role in Mexico’s crackdown but is sending $75m in equipment and training to help stop Central Americans from crossing illegally into Mexico. Hosting Mr Trump two weeks ago, President Enrique Peña Nieto said that “making Mexico’s border with our friends and neighbours in Central America more secure is of vital importance for Mexico and the US”.
After months in detention, Rosa and her sons were denied asylum. No official reason was given and Mexico’s refugee authorities did not respond to interview requests.
Help For Trump
This timely story will undoubtedly help Trump. It highlights the blatant hypocrisy of the Obama administration, and Mexico as well, doing everything to prevent Central American migrants from staying in Mexico or reaching the US border.
The US then grants asylum to those who make it. Lovely.

I first read this about a month ago … not surprising msm failed to promote.

Mish, you are being kind.
Trump labeled a “racist” for same.
The Saudis built a wall last year 600 miles long along the Iraq border.. Check it out.

Almost Darwinian, isn’t it?
I can almost see the next Reality TV show coming from this…
President Barack Obama issued an executive order Monday (March 9, 2015) addressing the “unusual and extraordinary threat” by Venezuela toward U.S. national security and foreign policy.
According to the executive order, all “property and interests” of select Venezuela individuals are blocked from entering the U.S. The U.S. Treasury secretary will collaborate with the Secretary of State to further determine the Venezuelan individuals who will be affected by the executive order.

Mish – Mexico WILL build a wall!! To keep OUT unemployed Americans who used to work at places like Hershey, Carrier, Ford, and on, all moved there recently or soon to happen!
Movement both ways across the border seem to be slowing down these days. On account of increased criminality. By drug cartels scaring US retirees from Mexico; and banksters looting the economy sufficiently, to no longer provide worth vile jobs for Mexicans with ambitions of moving North.
So has any of the commenters here crossed the US/Mexican Border in the last few years to to work at a US Subsidiary there?
Crossing the Border is quite different going from the US to Mexico than when you go from Mexico to the US. You must have a letter from your company, you must pay a fee, Identification documents are scrutinized heavily after you have passed by heavily armed police and soldiers. It is not easy or friendly to cross from the US to Mexico.
If the US applied the same immigration standards/process to Mexicans that Mexico applies to US Citizens there would not be an illegal immigration issue.
Exactly. Also, don’t forget to make sure you are bonded. Like a courier carrying important documents is bonded? No, but medically bonded in case you find yourself in need of medical care while in Mexico. You won’t be treated the same way illegal aliens are treated at US hospitals.
You will be paying in full for your care. It will be good care and you will be paying for it in full.
I crossed the border at Naco last year (as a tourist). On the Mexico side they searched my car for guns fairly thoroughly. Mexico is very strict against bringing guns across the border. Other than that it was a smooth, easy crossing and border officials were very polite, helpful, and friendly. Coming back to the US through Naco, the US border officer did a quick inspection of my hatch and waved me through. No problems.
Mexico was great. I would drive there again but stay off the secondary roads because the pavement is really bad.
It’s clear that you don’t understand the mechanics of the criminal organizations that promotes migration in Central and South America,
you have a recruiter team moving in small towns and suburbs praying the beauties of living in U.S , ” where the people don’t dare to pick the dollars $10 bills in the streets, Americans will receive you with open arms and you will earn big money.”
You don’t have for the ticket?, no visa?, no worries!, the organization will take care of that and will move you to the border!, you will pay with your new shiny American dollars.
Illegal immigration is a petty crime in Central America or Mexico , and generates as much money as drugs without the risk, in Mexico all kind of people is related to the activity, truck drivers, police, fishermen, taxis, etc
MOST OF THE PEOPLE MOVING HAS A WAY OF LIFE AND IS LIVING WITH NOT PROBLEM IN THEIR PLACES, they are cheated by the crime organizations.
Understanding the real dynamics of the problem will generate better solutions
America is under attack. Not from those without. From those within. The ones we elect to manage our lives. They are the cause. The illegals are the effect. It is nefarious and meant to destabilize the social structure of America. There’s a reason for everything.
