German chancellor Angela Merkel announced today she would Seek Fourth Term as Germany’s Leader.
In cheerleading fashion, the Financial Times offered this subtitle: “Trump victory underscores chancellor’s importance to world liberal order”.
The world will be better off if she loses, but here’s the announcement.
Angela Merkel has decided to seek a fourth term as German chancellor, less than two weeks after Donald Trump’s election in the US left her as the west’s pre-eminent defender of liberal values.
The announcement to stand again came days after meetings with world leaders that underscored Ms Merkel’s importance to an international liberal order rocked by Mr Trump’s electoral victory, and the rise of populist and nationalist parties across Europe.
She announced her decision to seek re-election on Sunday night, ending months of speculation. She said she had “thought endlessly” about whether to run again and described the decision as “anything but trivial, not for the country, for the party and for me personally”.
Ms Merkel said she wanted to serve Germany in “these difficult and uncertain times”.
Ms Merkel’s decision comes as the French on Sunday went to the polls to select a centre-right candidate for next year’s election. Pollsters expect the winner to face far-right leader Marine Le Pen in the battle for the presidency.
“Germany and Europe need a safe pair of hands, they need predictability in policymaking, coherence and stability,” said Norbert Röttgen, the CDU head of the Bundestag Foreign Affairs committee. “It’s our responsibility to be this anchor of stability in the world.”
In the eyes of many AfD supporters, Ms Merkel symbolises a remote political establishment that has grown out of touch with the concerns of ordinary voters disillusioned by globalisation, free trade and open borders.
The AFD is now Germany’s third most popular party, according to Emnid, with 13 per cent of the vote. This compares with 33 per cent for the CDU/CSU — down considerably on the 41 per cent they scored in the 2013 election — and 24 per cent for the Social Democrats, junior partner in Ms Merkel’s governing coalition.
“The Bundestag election is open,” said Thomas Oppermann, head of the SPD group in parliament. “Angela Merkel is no longer unbeatable.”
To Hell With Principles
During its meeting on Sunday, the CDU also began drawing up an election platform for next year’s campaign which is in part designed to stop the haemorrhaging of support to the AFD. The party will, for example, rule out a repeat of last year’s refugee influx and say that it will pursue sanctions against migrants who refuse to integrate into German society.
Merkel still has not admitted a refugee policy mistake. In fact, she stated if she could go back in time she would go back far enough to plan for the refugees.
Now, her party hopes to get away with distortions and lies about Merkel’s true colors by saying things AfD wants to hear.
This is what Hillary did in an attempt to pick up Bernie Sanders votes. Hillary also bent her stance on trade and tariffs so that it was indistinguishable from Trump. Then despite all of media rallying around Hillary, she lost anyway.
Improving Support for Merkel?
Back in May, the Local reported Two-thirds of Germans Want Merkel Out at Next Election.
On August 28, DW reported New poll shows split opinion over fourth term for Chancellor Angela Merkel.
“Results showed that 50 percent of poll participants were against a new term for the Chancellor, while 42 percent were in favor. She has come under fire from both citizens and fellow politicians for her refugee policies.”
Now we are told over 50% support her. One reason is no one in CDU/CSU wants to run against her. A second reason is Merkel’s pact with Erdogan to keep refugees penned up in Turkey is still “working” to use the term loosely.
Merkel is in bed with an extortionist she needs to keep refugees penned up. For details, please see Erdogan Lashes Out at EU, Threatens to “Open the Gates” for Refugees.
There is no real groundswell of support for Merkel.

To run anyone else than Merkel, the CDU would be admitting that they were wrong since 2005.
Hopefully, Merkel will get another dose of the new political reality in December when Renzi resigns and new Italian elections are called for – and when the ‘far right’ Freedom Party wins in Austria.
AGAINST EU LAW TO CRITICISE THE EU.
“RUIZ-JARABO COLOMER the Advocate-General of the European Court of Justice gave a legal opinion (in case C-274/99) in 19 October 2000 that criticism of the EU, its institutions or its leading figures was akin to blasphemy. Further, that, because laws against blasphemy were acceptable both under the common law of England and the existing European Human Rights Convention, it then followed that punishing someone for allegedly criticizing the EU was not an infringement of free speech.”

Seriously ?
Reminds me of Putin’s foolish law against criticizing Stalin’s red army.

Seriously and they are looking towards regulating the web. This is a summary from Amato in order to denude the nation states of sovereignty. It will now will be used against dissent, slowly. Nothing and no one will be allowed to threaten the project. Dissent is not free speech but will be called blasphemy.
“You must act ‘as if,’ in Europe, . . . as if states remained sovereign, to convince them to no longer be sovereign. The Brussels [European Union] Commission, for instance, must act as if it were a technical body, in order to operate like a government. And so on, dissimulating and leaving things unsaid. Amato . . .”
The irony is… US, UK, EU and Russian governments constantly commit Biblical blasphemy. Per God’s Law, that is a capital crime.
Oh, the sweet sound of Europe’s death rattle. Think of all of the EU laws to deal with the ME barbarians within the gates. Soon the Europeans will live in colonies, not their own countries.

Looks like the Soviet Union never died, it just moved to Brussels.
As antichrist Ayn Rand [real name, Rosenbaum] moved from the Soviet Union to the USA.
“OFF WITH THEIR HEADS”
So much for respecting someone who doesn’t agree with you.
Merkel’s fate is Weimar’s fate.
Forget change. Merkel is standing again to maintain the status quo and no opposition will prevail, no matter what needs to be done, to avoid any threat to the EU project.
Most people don’t realise what they are up against. It is not the US or UK type of democracy in the EU. Merkel is seen as the saviour of the EU and will garner all the secret hand support. You have no idea what they are capable of.
The CDU/CSU is stuck with Merkel. I expect the CDU/CSU to win significantly fewer seats than they did the last time, which was already only a plurality. How will the SPD run their campaign? It isn’t easy for parties on the left to run against the mass migration, so Merkel has a chance to hold on as long as the CDU/CSU doesn’t fall below about 280 seats total- below that level, it is hard to make a deal with anyone that allows Merkel to continue as Chancellor.
The anti-establishment phenomenon has already gone global with Brexit and Trump. It’s contagious. Sovereignty is in – globalism is out.The momentum is on our side. Merkel hasn’t got a snowballs chance in hell particularly if there are more terrorist incidents in Germany between now and the election day. And the chances of that happening are high with all the unvetted ME refugees she’s allowed into her country. I have no idea what the Germans find enticing in the woman. She’s destroying the culture and very soul of their nation.
” I have no idea what the Germans find enticing in the woman. She’s destroying the culture and very soul of their nation. ”
________
“Soul of their nation” is right. The definition of nation is a unified people who share the same race, ethnicity, religion, traditions, culture, history, territory. This is the soul of a nation that evil insidious globalists seek to forever destroy. Globalists understand that once the soul of a nation is destroyed, it can never be resurrected by alien demographic economic units.
Protestant ethics that government can do no wrong, and is there to serve the people. The best sheep mentality you can find. The migrating hordes, on the other hand, each one has a mind of his own: family first, relatives and friends second, society my arz. In time, the sheep will come to realize they are dupes, rage and retribution ensues, or submission to the majority of guests.
Enticing is maybe not the word, representative or convincing is closer. Makes little sense from outside or at a political level I know, just remember she does not drive policy but is sold to serving whoever is behind it, to put her own touch to it. When she seems commanding it is because that is when her own convictions align. It is easy to symbolize the leader as representative of all that ails, and clearly she has no great qualms in sustaining the and her position, but we would be fooling ourselves not to look at what is behind it all.
I don’t see her re-elected, but Germany works differently to our own nations. She will lose a lot of international support in the coming months, as with the migrants, I think her politics will become something more isolated and German exigencies less respected.
“I have no idea what the Germans find enticing in the woman. ”
Maybe it´s how she´s running the country? Which she has been pretty successful of.
How she managed the country through the financial crisis (which was caused by a bubble in the US), that (at least at the moment) she contained the crisis in Greece, that she´s getting Germany out of the nuclear energy age, that she isn´t getting Germany into any wars. That she is a true LEADER.
Unemployment in Germany is at multi decade lows. A minimum wage was introduced a year ago without harming the economy. Retirement benefits are going up, as do wages. There´s still universal healthcare, free education, a balanced budget and the lowest debt-gdp ratio among the worlds leading economies.
You guys are ranting againts the wrong woman.
if all a German cared about is being a globalist economic unit with no German soul, she might be a dream.
This “German Soul” bla is nonsense. Nothing is taken away from German culture/idendity. If you don´t believe me, come over here for a holiday trip (strong Dollar helps 😉 ) All you´re gonna see is a few more People looking arabic and a Syrian Fruit Shop here and there.
And for this “they (migrants) will overtake Germans” i can tell you, that the majority of refugees is granted asylum. Which means that you neither get a German passport nor voting rights. And if the cause for your asylum (=the war in Syria) has ended (which it will one day), those people will have to go home.
Those who are sleeping in denial… will have a rude awakening in reality.
Sarkozy 3rd in first round. Could be out of the running at first hurdle.
In the future, Merkel will be known as the founder of the Islamization of Germany. Germans should tell their daughters to learn how to wear a burkha, to stay in the house unless accompanied my an adult male and to not be uppity to their husbands otherwise what they would need is a good thrashing. Based on demographics, it will happen in their lifetime.
This strong independent woman will not be moving to Germany. Whites in Texas are already the minority. But at least women here can legally be armed.
Predictions
1) Renzi will win on 4th Dec.
After his win reform will be easier. More power in the hands of the leader.
He will later be replaced by someone able to force changes to speed EU integration and then seeing less opposition after the voted for changes.
2) Merkel remains in Germany with Schauble as finance.
3) Le Pen will be tripped up in France by the EU.
All business as usual and the EU continues as always as they look to punish the UK.
.
The only thing I like about the EU is their circle of 12 stars symbol which reminds me of the woman in Rev 12 who has a crown of 12 stars [symbolizing the 12 tribes of Israel.] But even when the 12 tribes of ancient Israel were united under one king, they still maintained their unique individual identity and territory. But instead of the EU becoming New Jerusalem with 12 gates, one for each of their 12 tribes… instead of a revived Holy Roman Empire, the Kingdom of God on earth… the EU became an evil satanic antichrist humanistic cultural marxist mockery. Sad…
.
You’re such an optimist! 😉
That was to The_Fish, BTW
Just a realistic where the EU is concerned.

Election night will find Merkel alone, in the bunker.
Merkel said if she could go back in time she would better prepare for the refugees? Wow, and how would she do this, as no matter how far back she goes, the nature of the last empire religion of antiquity remains utterly incompatible with anything except itself.
Perhaps she means she would more effectively silence the rabble resisting her insanity.
