The Washington Post lunatics are back again with yet another story on Russia: Trump Refuses to Face Reality About Russia. This bit of irony comes from the Washington Post editorial Board.
ALTHOUGH PRESIDENT Obama’s sanctions against Russia for interfering with the U.S. presidential election came late, his action on Thursday reflected a bipartisan consensus that penalties must be imposed for Moscow’s audacious hacking and meddling. But one prominent voice in the United States reacted differently. President-elect Donald Trump said “it’s time for our country to move on to bigger and better things.” Earlier in the week, he asserted that the “whole age of computer has made it where nobody knows exactly what is going on.”
No, Mr. Trump, it is not time to move on. U.S. intelligence agencies are in agreement about “what is going on”: a brazen and unprecedented attempt by a hostile power to covertly sway the outcome of a U.S. presidential election through the theft and release of material damaging to Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. The president-elect’s dismissive response only deepens unanswered questions about his ties to Russia in the past and his plans for cooperation with Vladimir Putin.
Dear Washington Post
How many times do you morons have to humiliate yourselves with fake news before you understand the problem is you?
There is no credible evidence Russia interfered in the US election. However, we do have some facts.
Facts of the Matter
- The US waged war on Iraq on trumped up charges of weapons of mass destruction.
- The US entered a war in Vietnam on a senseless “domino theory” fueled on trumped up Gulf of Tonkin incident.
- The US helped overthrow Mohammad Mosaddegh, an Iranian Prime Minister. Mosaddegh was the democratically elected Prime Minister of Iran from 1951 until 1953, when his government was overthrown in a coup d’état aided by the the US. The results were disastrous.
- The US tapped Angela Merkel’s phone.
- On the death of Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi, then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton bragged “We came, we saw, he died.” ISIS and radicals took over Libya following the death of Qaddafi.
- Thousands of innocent men, women, and children have been killed by US drones. Obama justified targeted killings under the pretext of wars that were never declared.
Facts vs. Allegations
Like it or not, those are the undisputed facts. Meanwhile, the editorial board nut cases at the Washington Post are on the loose, multiple times over.
It is possible Russia is involved, but all we have now is allegations. And these are the same kinds of allegations we saw about Iraq, Vietnam, drone policy, etc.

For the real news, hold upside down and shake.
If one thinks that one party or another or the government itself can only lie and deceive, then an independent and fully functioning press is our only salvation. Unfortunately, the resources of the press have been diminished both for financial reasons but also because of the misconceptions about balanced reporting. Those who have drunk the cool-aid about the press always lying or the press always conniving with the government are playing into the hands of those who would prefer that those people only listen to THEIR version of the “truth” and think/do what THEY want.
On another point, many use the terms “lie” and “fake” far too loosely which contributes to the current state of chaos and colors peoples’ perceptions unjustly. In the last election the terms “lie” and “liar” were thrown around recklessly and ignorantly.
On another point, so many of the allegations made herein are entirely unsubstantiated – just like the newspaper article itself. Beliefs and common knowledge (among some people) does not equate to proven fact. Unfortunately, what passes for substantiation nowadays is often faked.
Don’t know why Trump is being upbraided for not submitting to the authority of the intelligence community. There is already a precedent for this in living memory, e.g., BILL CLINTON. When Frank Eugene Corder crashed a plane onto the White House lawn in 1994, the running gag in Washington was that the pilot was [then CIA director] Jim Woolsey, trying to get a meeting with the president. It was common knowledge that Clinton was completely uninterested in meetings and briefings with the CIA. In fact, Clinton stated in an interview that he could pick up more from reading the NY Times or the Washington Post than from so-called intelligence briefings.
Democrat Party = WaPo = NY Times = ORGANIZED CRIME … !!!
I think it’s ok for the WaPOS to ask questions. The answer is that detente with Russia will be policy under the Trump Administration. And the WaPOS editorial board, along with every other MSM ed board, can go eff itself. Their endless war agenda will have to wait four, possibly eight years. Boo effing hoo.
“I think it’s ok for the WaPOS to ask questions.”
It is OK for the Washington Post to ask honest questions, but they aren’t asking honest questions, they are asking politically motivated questions, not with the intent of getting honest answers, but in order to politically bias the reader.
We the People just might put them out of business by then. I go up to CNNs youtube site to troll them every day. Most comments are negative and cutting. As a result, they post unimportant teddy bear local interest articles instead. They are headed straight down the municipal drainpipe now.
Time to start boycotting Amazon. Let Bezos know it’s not okay to turn opinion into news, or push his personal agenda. Keep repeating this over and over to everyone you know.
Trump could call for boycotts of news orgs that don’t play fair and harm society. Step 1 is to sell the Trump business so they can’t retaliate.
Be honest of go out of business.
Wondering where the punch line is, hard to believe that such a flimsy setup which invites Trump to bask doesn’t have an edge somewhere.
I could go as far as thinking that this is purposeful intelligence policy to implement own clearout and set the stage for a revindicated Trump to prove a new era of US Russia relations is possible….that is how absurd these accusations are as they stand.
On the other hand I know how deep the animosity towards, and from, Russia is that runs in certain circles, I doubt that the future credibility of US intelligence regarding Russia would be allowed to be placed on the line in such a trivial manner. The US only has the tendency to admit mistakes after (italics) it has destroyed another country or deposed its leader. Hence open accusations of this nature will be expected to be followed through in future policy by the ‘deep state’.
Why do we not have full homeland security, agency or defense briefs to anchor the information and accept responsibility? Have they taken place or is this all based on a few memos and presidential discretion?
Thanks Mish – we all need to counter the dangerous and power hungry (they are unwitting comedians and we should laugh!) and their agendas that have nothing to contribute to a good and well lived life – we know who the real terrorists are and must call out facts that can shame them. Things would be different if threat was not so obviously contrived.

Clearly the War party are still rampant in Washington. Lets hope Trump has not lost his pair and can eviscerate them. That alone would legitimise his legacy!
And Obama interfered in the Ukraine so much that the lawfully elected pro-Russian government was toppled in order to install an unelected pro-west government.
How does Obama even show his face…?
Answer: Via the miracles of modern medicine, a colonoscopy.
It’s all because Cheney used to work at Halliburton.
It’s true! Just ask any liberal and they’ll tell you.
Obama: “the new regime … uhh … that we helped .. uhh to transition in” [live on a press conference]
2017 … the Year these United States returns to Constitutional Sanity!
They and other MSM are supporting Obama’s position about Russia’s involvement. Nobody mentions Julian Assange’s assertion that they were not the source. It was possibly, a DNC insider. One possibility is a young lawyer, Seth Conrad Rich shot in the back on his way to testify on Clinton’s emails- supposedly part of a mugging.
Also all reporting on these so called hacks should include gratitude for the truth they revealed so for once Americans could vote based on the truth about DNC medling against Bernie, cheating in debates- fed questions by CNN, hiring trouble makers to incite violence at Trump rallies, and finally the Podesta emails revealing the Pizza code language used. Then they should always than James O’Keefe too for his good work, and should top it off with Mr. Snowden. I think Trumps people know the truth and will find out and make sure we all know.

Trump won, but not by a lot. What will the Democrats do if instead they face a populist who does not offend educated women? Detente with Russia may well be the policy and may work. On the other hand, the Chinese Communists may be less happy with a Trump administration.
I wonder if this is going to be a “China Card” replay? Nixon made a career out of it.
It’s hard to excuse rude behavior but I think if there is anything obvious it is that polite debate wasn’t getting the job done. Every moment a conservative spends arguing with a liberal, they are losing ground, as facts do not matter and only personal destruction wins in the end. When we see deliberate misinformation spread by supposedly honest news sources and YEARS of policy failure NEVER openly debated on its merits, the only thing that seems to work is to lower yourself to the same sickening rules of the opposition.
I don’t know why Mish doesn’t get it. As he said that Hillary (democrats-war-mongering) wanted war with Russia over Syrian airspace issue. And now with Fake News about Russian hacking of election and power grid and Obama sanctions, they are forcing Trump to wage that war for them.
Just connecting the dots
What the F is it that I don’t get?
Just about everything. Reading these posts makes me believe I’ve wandered into a looney bin. The way many have been isolated by the “everyone but us is lying” meme is scary. Think brainwash. Think Pravda. Think Ministry of Truth.
Concise & articulate ! Thank you for the beautiful work you do Mish.
I think they want to kill Trump. Nothing else makes sense. Kill the guy and then claim you’re a Patriot. Had to be done. He was working for Russia. Had to be done.
Beats going to jail which is where these people belong.
Like I said, its creepy. Read THEORY on various high level assassinations and psychological prep of those, and you end up with a scenario of someone acting to ‘stop the Russian’ etc.
IMHO the American left want to disassociate from the Democrat theme, which is a twisted usurpation of some very high ideals. Have to get used to the idea that we are all expendable in this game, fighting politics, religion, race, nations is NOT what it was or is about. Finding your own refuge of truth and sanity and being strong there, peacefully, is. Purposeful martyrdom is perverse, not wise, those made martyrs against their will are beyond that.
I think Jesus and John Lennon would have been friends, don’t you?
The C.I.A. has been a disaster since its formation.
History proves it.
Absent the foolish actions of the C.I.A., there would be no U.S. Debt and no nation would be fool enough to challenge us.
When you are strong, you do not have to fight.
Only bankers and arms makers profit from war.
When you are strong, you do not have to pay for new arms “cost overruns” as the arms makers need you rather than you need them.
Even “Ike” fell victim to his C.I.A.
What a shame Bozos has turned a great American newspaper into a real POS. The sooner it goes out of business, the better.
This is slightly off topic but I just wanted to express my disdain for the end zone dance showboating my dog does after defecating on my favorite Burberry rug.
Stop the whole Michael Jackson moonwalk imitation Midnight. Everyone can do it – get over yourself. Oh yeah, one other thing: one more ‘how you like me now’ post elimination stare and you’re getting neutered.
I think the MSM are suffering a serious snit fit at Trump’s victory, and are deeply shaken by the realization that all their propaganda power did not succeed in electing Hillary. And then Trump announced that he would not pay obeisance to the MSM by holding press conferences – instead he communicates by Twitter, so he gets to control the message rather than letting the MSM spin and twist it.
I suspect the MSM will pour on the bad news every time Trump is mentioned, in an attempt to force Trump to make nice to the MSM.
Good point. And the MSM loves war. Lots of news and patriotic pictures and stories. And don’t forget that the same robber barons who own the media also own the defense industry and banks.
I know it sounds very crass but in order to protect my produce I trap and kill brush tailed possums, I don’t like doing it but I have to, and yes I have a permit.
The relevance point is that I shoot them through the head in the trap while they are asleep, which is the best I can do for them, then carry them to where I clean and dress them and cut their heads off which makes it easier to skin them.
After their heads are cut off their bodies and torsos move and “live” for quite a while, they contort and spring around on the ground and often behave in quite bizarre fashion.
That, dear readers, is the state of the MSM.
Profits? Economic viability? Credibility? Readership able to think for themselves? Head count has been gutted.
What exactly does WaPo have left to lose? The remaining staff are all going to lose their jobs no matter how this false story turns out
Some of the people in Trump’s transition team have already hinted that they are going to make significant changes to the White House press room (and WH staff that feed it). Maybe an official Trump blog, continued / more Twitter tweeting, and no more daily WH press briefings. Lots of ways to go around the established media outlets. Hard to imagine Trump cabinet officials won’t make similar changes at Treasury, State and Defense departments.
WaPo will lose their special access, and the last reason for existing. Every media outlet and blogger in the country (world?) will soon have the same access as WaPo.
That has to terrify WaPo’s ever dwindling headcount… especially after they just read that NYTimes is renting out space in their NYC HQ building (where whole floors are vacant at the moment).
Washington DC is a very very expensive place to have staff writing fiction, especially when those staff have the same access as people writing from hundreds of miles away.
And nobody at WaPo seemed to care when Obama said it was ” time to move on” when calls for the prosecution of the Bush regime for torture were expressed.
Happy New Year Everyone!
The problem with the large media outlets is the Donald unlike Obama does not play to their tune. All of you large media hacks will now be sitting in the back of the room!
Happy new year Old Guy.
Mish you better be careful. WAPO is liable to put you on their dreaded “Fake News” list!
A long one but worth a read. The American MSM entangled, and, conspiracy theories or not, these people link MSM, Obama, EU etc.
WaPo, NYT upset as the plan they are roped in to help progress went off track. Same for Brexit as the BBC top knob was involved too.
It all smells.
http://www.thenewamerican.com/world-news/europe/item/23380-globalists-meet-at-bilderberg-in-germany-to-plot-world-s-future
I
They are really pissed about Trump, Brexit and any reduction in confrontation with Russia. Somewhere there is probably a plan to breakdown Russia to join Europe, somewhere.
When that objective looks like going off track the MSM is expected to help get it back on track. All the usual suspects involved.
Rockefeller some time back – ” “We are grateful to the Washington Post, The New York Times, Time magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost 40 years,” Rockefeller said. “It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But the world is more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries.”
This year, as usual, plenty of self-styled “journalists” and opinion molders will be in attendance, although you will not be hearing about the summit from them. Among the American establishment media personalities on this year’s list is NBC News “Chief Foreign Correspondent” Richard Engel. Bloomberg Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait and Bloomberg View columnist Megan McArdle will be there, too. Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan and Washington Post columnist Anne Applebaum are on the list as well. Plenty of European establishment media bosses will also be there. Among them: Editor-in-Chief Zanny Minton Beddoes with The Economist, Chief Economics Commentator Martin Wolf with the Financial Times, Editor-in-Chief and Anchor “Otto e mezzo” on Italy’s La7 TV Lilli Gruber, Editorial Director Etienne Gernelle……..”
There is a globalist agenda. We ALL know that and many of us are against this for many different reasons. What we must understand is that there are those for it…for many different reasons as well. These differences within a given agenda can make people LOOK as enemies and in many cases they DO oppose each other but STILL are in pursuit of POWER through the same mechanisms. It is a multilevel marketing plan.
Black nationalists, while pursuing power for black people, willingly subscribe to Marxist principles to advance their goal. The advancement of centralized power to control the planet. Muslims, constantly fighting between themselves because of different interpretations of their religion, yet that still all hope for the same thing. A centralized monotheistic control of the planet.
So many factions appearing to be at odds with each other, ALL in pursuit of the same goal, and I believe ALL being used by greater concealed powers seeing this as their grand opportunity.
I believe that nationalism is NOT the same thing as divisiveness. Individual nations standing apart while recognizing the need for cooperation is a prosperous world, but one where we are forced into uneasy personal alliances where no clear lines of mutual purpose or values exists, leads to conflict and chaos, all used to weaken PEOPLE in favor of those would will take advantage. What IS America FOR? Do we know anymore? Everything we thought we were for has been corrupted and distorted to destroy any positive associations, and thereby our own self image. America is no longer us, it is THEM, the leaders who set agendas, decide who are enemies are, and we are left to defend or deny.
Nation is now a corrupted political term, and really it does not and should not descend in meaning from law, citizenship or borders. The fact that it is more lately perceived to mean those is a centralizing globalising attempt, and a very confusing if not jolting experience.
What nation does mean is the familiar ( as in ancestral) culture and society you are born into, it might also to a degree or totally encompass the meaning of race. So a descendant of a migrant born in a country and considered a national, in real terms is not, he is part of a migrant nation part assimilated with another , and sharing the same territory as another, more native, nation.
Nationalism likes to keep the boundaries, culture, and social meaning clearly defined between distinct nations, and I find no reason for that to be considered intrinsically wrong. The allowance of incorporation of foreign nations into one’s own is traditionally subject to strict social criteria due to the existing levels of trust in that nation that may be abused of, and the hierarchy and protocol that may be disturbed by those not learned or humble to its ways.
“Political sense has gradually predominated, but earliest English examples inclined toward the racial meaning “large group of people with common ancestry.” Older sense preserved in application to North American Indian peoples (1640s)”
http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=nation
Notice, MSM used to get the plan out into the sheeples minds and nudge them into the pen, like good sheep dogs do.
So blatant it’s shocking.
This isn’t commercial nievity, they are doing AS INSTRUCTED to fulfill their role in the plan they are in on. Below owning WaPo an dumb move on his part? I think not, there was good reason.
We get the same crappy in the UK from swathes of the BBC when the masses get uppity and they are called upon to step in to brainwash.
The WaPo has just released HARD evidence that the Russians did it:
“If you study Mr V. Putin real hard, he looks just about evil enough to do some bad things.”
Signed
Director of CIA
Can’t argue with that!
Is there any legitimate news organization investigating the idea that the DNC eMails were leaked? Assange implied Seth Rich was murdered. Boycott Amazon.
Putin and Russia are just as guilty for interfering in other countries affairs as America. One difference is the lack of checks and balances he faces in Russia. At least in America, your democracy allows for honest political opposition and your constitution allows for press freedom. Open discussion that occurs daily in this very forum, is simply not possible in many other countries. You are indeed fortunate to live in America. Having said that, my major concern is that Putin is a Fox and Trump is a Peacock. Putin has been playing Trump for a long time now. I see no evidence of that changing anytime and I fear the consequences…. Happy New Year America. Keep up the good work Mish!
I see Trump staying friendly with Russia as a way to counter Germany’s near complete dominance over Europe. Sort of like in WW2.
although i can only write about the MSM from a UK perspective
(it is safe to assume that it is exactly the same as the MSM in the US or the EU
i think that the role of the MSM in Western societies
has been following the same path as that followed by the role of organised religion
during the past 1000 years.(rise and fall)
in lieu of priests and various clergymen, we now have “our” journalists, and other media personalities (inc politicians).
it took organised religion 10 centuries to get where it is today.
MSM, as we know it, has only been going for less than 200 years.
some people, such as myself, only tend to view any kind of TV personality/politician etc
as a kind of entertainment (the nearest we get to Comedy, nowadays, in the UK at least )
i think we live in a kind of monoculture (same programmes, same journalists no matter on which side of the Atlantic you stand)…….Ugh
it has yet to occur to these people ( WApo, NYTimes, and all those European papers)
that a great percentage of the population have been ignoring whatever they have been saying for years (in my case,20+ years).
“Dear Washington Post”
You colluded with the Hillary campaign to interfere in our election.
You are a purveyor of fake news. You are guilty of doing what you accuse the Russians of doing. You have no moral high ground.
Your propaganda is not factual news.
When you discuss the list of blunders by the Military and the CIA, don’t forget MacArthur’s assurances to Truman that our intelligence was certain an invasion of North Korea would not bring in the Chinese or Westmoreland’s assurance to Lyndon Johnson that 100,000 American men would seal the deal in Vietnam; after 550,000 troops and more than 55,000 dead American boys we finally left dumping our helicopters into the water and shooting our war dogs. It’s amazing that no one is ever been called on the carpet for these unconscionable errors of judgment.
So….the Ruskies interfered with our election. How? Oh…I got it…. they each voted TWICE.? Or was it the DEAD Ruskies voted? Or the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT Ruskies voted?
Or did they just release the crap the Democrats had already said and done – but didn’t want the AMERICAN voters to see…..
After his inauguration, one can only hope Trump will fire all seventeen heads of agency’s along with their people who played a part in advising president obummer it was the Russian’s hacking, Drain that swamp, Drain that swap! Drain that swamp!!
