One by one, mainstream media has fallen for “trust us” propaganda from the CIA.
Here’s NYT bullsh*t: Putin Ordered ‘Influence Campaign’ Aimed at U.S. Election, Report Says
American intelligence officials have concluded that the president of Russia, Vladimir V. Putin, personally “ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the U.S. presidential election,” and turned from seeking to “denigrate” Hillary Clinton to developing “a clear preference for President-elect Trump.”
The report, a damning and surprisingly detailed account of Russia’s efforts to undermine the American electoral system and Mrs. Clinton in particular, went on to assess that Mr. Putin had “aspired to help President-elect Trump’s election chances when possible by discrediting Secretary Clinton and publicly contrasting her unfavorably to him.”
Mush for Brains
Anyone who calls the report “damning and surprisingly detailed” has mush for brains.
I invite you to read the full declassified report so you can decide for yourself.
Report “Highlights”
- Putin most likely wanted to discredit Secretary Clinton because he has publicly blamed her since 2011 for inciting mass protests against his regime in late 2011 and early 2012, and because he holds a grudge for comments he almost certainly saw as disparaging him.
- Beginning in June, Putin’s public comments about the US presidential race avoided directly praising President-elect Trump, probably because Kremlin officials thought that any praise from Putin personally would backfire in the United States.
- Putin has had many positive experiences working with Western political leaders whose business interests made them more disposed to deal with Russia, such as former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder.
- When it appeared to Moscow that Secretary Clinton was likely to win the presidency the Russian influence campaign focused more on undercutting Secretary Clinton’s legitimacy and crippling her presidency from its start, including by impugning the fairness of the election.
- We assess that influence campaigns are approved at the highest levels of the Russian Government—particularly those that would be politically sensitive.
- In early September, Putin said publicly it was important the DNC data was exposed to WikiLeaks, calling the search for the source of the leaks a distraction and denying Russian “state-level” involvement.
- Russia’s state-run propaganda machine—comprised of its domestic media apparatus, outlets targeting global audiences such as RT and Sputnik, and a network of quasi-government trolls—contributed to the influence campaign by serving as a platform for Kremlin messaging to Russian and international audiences.
- Starting in March 2016, Russian Government–linked actors began openly supporting President-elect Trump’s candidacy in media aimed at English-speaking audiences.
- RT and Sputnik—another government-funded outlet producing pro-Kremlin radio and online content in a variety of languages for international audiences—consistently cast President-elect Trump as the target of unfair coverage from traditional US media outlets that they claimed were subservient to a corrupt political establishment.
- A journalist who is a leading expert on the Internet Research Agency claimed that some social media accounts that appear to be tied to Russia’s professional trolls—because they previously were devoted to supporting Russian actions in Ukraine—started to advocate for President-elect Trump as early as December 2015.
- RT America TV, a Kremlin-financed channel operated from within the United States, has substantially expanded its repertoire of programming that highlights criticism of alleged US shortcomings in democracy and civil liberties.
- RT introduced two new shows — “Breaking the Set” on 4 September and “Truthseeker” on 2 November — both overwhelmingly focused on criticism of US and Western governments as well as the promotion of radical discontent.
- RT aired a documentary about the Occupy Wall Street movement on 1, 2, and
4 November. RT framed the movement as a fight against “the ruling class” and described the current US political system as corrupt and dominated by corporations. - RT has also focused on criticism of the US economic system, US currency policy, alleged Wall Street greed, and the US national debt.
- RT runs anti-fracking programming, highlighting environmental issues and the impacts on public health.
Amusing Poll
Here’s an amusing poll by John Harwood, a Dad who covers Washington, the economy and national politics for CNBC and the New York Times.
Anyone who accepts that ridiculous intelligence report at full face value in light of other disasters such as Colin Powell’s embarrassing report to the UN on Saddam Hussein’s alleged but nonexistent WMDs has mush for brains as well.
Once again, it’s possible Russia is involved, there just is no evidence. In contrast there is actual admission of US meddling, with disastrous consequences in the affairs of other countries.
Also note that nothing Wikileaks released on Hillary was false. Have you ever seen so much insanity over actual facts?

Forget about Russia, Mexico interferes in the USA more than any other foreign country:
For the past 50 years, the government of Mexico has aided and abetted il-legal immigration into the USA. This is a clear ACT of WAR !!!
For the past 30 years, Mexican gangs have flooded the USA with il-legal drugs and with organized crime. This is a clear ACT of WAR !!!
In 2016, Mexican officials called Trump a RACIST during the US Presidential campaign, and they begged US citizens of Hispanic ancestry, to be NEVER-TRUMP voters. This is a clear ACT of WAR !!!

NYT writes “The report, a damning and surprisingly detailed account of Russia’s efforts to undermine the American electoral system ”
But only 2 paragraphs down we read “But the declassified report contained no information about how the agencies had collected their data or had come to their conclusions. ”
Is it just me, but how does “no information” equal “surprisingly detailed”?
It was obvious that an illegal, organized attempt was being made to subvert the results of the election by sabotaging the electoral college, and now it seems they have not yet given up. It is not out of concern for the nation but out of fear, from what I am not sure. There must be something about Trump ( something good?) that I am not aware.

…former NSA technical director and whistleblower William Edward Binney…“I see a lot of allegations in what I’ve read so far of the report, but certainly it’s kind of light on proof of anything…It is a part of the “repetition from multiple directions until it’s believable” tactic used against Russia and Russian media. The repetition usually comes simultaneously from multiple “supposedly authoritative sources,” such as Congressmen, MSM citing anonymous security sources, intelligence agencies, until everyone stops questioning it, Binney believes. The whole situation is dangerous for the US itself, since it exposes serious immaturity in the intelligence services, which have basically lost the ability to perform their primary duties…That’s why they can’t stop any of these terrorist attacks. They are really good, the FBI is anyway, in entrapping people but it’s not in stopping real attacks.”

I think Binney nailed it…
and one sentence from the first page of “the full declassified” report, essentially admits it:
“Some analytic judgments are based directly on collected information; OTHERS REST ON PREVIOUS JUDGEMENTS, which serve as building blocks in rigorous analysis.”
Judgements begetting judgements?
I was looking for facts, but just before that, I had read:
“the declassified report does not and cannot include the full supporting information.”
I deemed it a waste of time to look any further for facts.

Give the bastards brain scans.
First evidence of brain abnormalities found in pathological liars
“Specifically, liars had a 25.7 percent increase in prefrontal white matter compared to the antisocial controls and a 22 percent increase compared to the normal controls. Liars had a 14.2 percent decrease in prefrontal gray matter compared to normal controls.
More white matter – the wiring in the brain – may provide liars with the tools necessary to master the complex art of deceit, Raine said.
“Lying takes a lot of effort,” he said.
“It’s almost mind reading. You have to be able to understand the mindset of the other person. You also have to suppress your emotions or regulate them because you don’t want to appear nervous. There’s quite a lot to do there. You’ve got to suppress the truth.
“Our argument is that the more networking there is in the prefrontal cortex, the more the person has an upper hand in lying. Their verbal skills are higher. They’ve almost got a natural advantage.”
But in normal people, it’s the gray matter – or the brain cells connected by the white matter – that helps keep the impulse to lie in check.
Pathological liars have a surplus of white matter, the study found, and a deficit of gray matter. That means they have more tools to lie coupled with fewer moral restraints than normal people, Raine said.
“They’ve got the equipment to lie, and they don’t have the disinhibition that the rest of us have in telling the big whoppers,” he said.
“When people make moral decisions, they are relying on the prefrontal cortex. When people ask normal people to make moral decisions, we see activation in the front of the brain,” he explained. “If these liars have a 14 percent reduction in gray matter, that means that they are less likely to care about moral issues or are less likely to be able to process moral issues. Having more gray matter would keep a check on these activities.”

I respectfully disagree with Ryan. Putin likely directed double-agent Huma Abedin to place Hilary’s emails on Weiner’s laptop and anonymously tip off the FBI. Security cameras for Hillary’s HQ should be scrutinized, as they may show what Nate Silver would call “high probability” Kremlin agents gained entry to Hillary’s server and directed a Podesta aid to label as “legitimate” the phishing email requesting Podesta’s password. Tip: Look for the guy in the dark trenchcoat embroidered with the words “Russian Spy.”

Maybe the russians counted more Hillary Clinton votes in Detroit than there were voters or maybe democrats did their usual ballot-stuffing but underestimated the Trump support:
Reuters:
Numerous voting machines in heavily Democratic Detroit showed a greater number of ballots than poll workers records said were cast in the Nov. 8 presidential election, the Detroit News reported on Tuesday.
About 37 percent of precincts in Wayne County, Michigan, where Detroit is located, showed such discrepancies, the newspaper reported, citing records prepared at its request by the county.

Now that Russia and Putin are our new best friends, ask yourselves this, aren’t they really doing what it is in their own best interests? Maybe our interests coincide but maybe not? For now Putin has an ideal situation, the US in disarray with their intelligence agencies discredited and their new president ready and willing to do what ever Putin wants.

Trump is nobody’s lapdog, which is what I like about him. For years, American and European powers have been doing their best to “isolate” Russia through a policy of NATO expansion. This is stupid politics because it drives Russia into an alliance with China, creating a dangerous axis of power. It was only a few months ago that Chairman Xi Jinping said, “In ten years, the key to the new world order will be the tandem of Russia and China”. It would be better for us in the long run to have Russia as a happy, productive trading partner with the European community. Russian cooperation is also required to destroy ISIS, and to achieve any lasting peace in the middle east.

If you think the options are:
.
Either to believe a confirmed LIAR Clapper without NONE of the 17 intelligence agencies having even taken even a look at DNC’s email server but still writing long reports how “it was the russians” without ANY PROOF and whipping up anti-russian cold-war mentality but with the exception that something must be done to strike back at Russia which could lead to a nuclear war with russians.
OR
Being Putins lap dog.

This bullying provocative behavior on part of the US toward Russia is disturbing and should alarm any thinking American. The question is whether it’s just one last feeble attempt by the puerile Obama administration to take a final jab in Obama’s personal feud w/ Putin & the Russian government, or whether it’s a concerted effort on part of the US to restore the Cold War – or worse.
I don’t see many congress critters questioning the word of the CIA or James Clapper who got caught perjuring himself before congress about data collection by the NSA a few years back. Snowden made a liar of him. What short memories they have. So minus Trump – it appears to be a concerted effort.
And the CIA and Clapper’s words seem to be good as gold to the MSM. I watched Fux News earlier today. The hosts have bought into the evil Russian government hacker theory hook, line and sinker. All the networks have piled on.
Julian Assange was a hero to the dems and the liberals when he exposed the leaks on the Bush wars a few years ago. Now suddenly he’s become an evil SOB and an enemy to American democracy. lol.

Russia is capitalistic country now but the difference between the capitalism orthodoxy ruling west is that Putin has decided to keep strategic assets like oil and gas either under direct ownership of russian government or by owning 50%+ of companies controlling oil and gas or by controlling oil pipes and gas pipes and taking a slice of the value of oil and gas transported through those pipes to western europe to russian government.
.
US billionaires would prefer it if all countries would be ready to asset-strip themselves completely and give all the riches that the country and land has in private hands.
.
This strategy and ideology originating from USA also includes electricity generation and electricity networks and even water source privatization and water network privatization are now being marketed as good policy in european countries after many electricity networks and electricity plants have been privatized by european countries for laughably low prices by incompetent politicians listening to US consultants telling them “private ownership is always more efficient, just privatize electricity plants and electricity networks quickly”
.
There is a global lobbying happening to make sure all countries asset-strip themselves completely leaving them with only massive debts and a tax base that is crumbling because of environment destroying free trade and because of electricity prices and soon water prices shooting through the roof.
LikeLike
The primary reason for private electricity generation is because private individuals and corporations invented it, and having been US based, built out the network first in the US.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westinghouse_Electric_Company
It’s revisionist thinking to think that somehow private industry stole electricity from “the people,” most of whom didn’t see the need until need was manufactured by the electric companies in the form of labor saving appliances and improved lighting. Yes, it can easily be argued that electricity is a necessity and therefore should be subject to regulation (especially given the monopolistic nature of distribution), but nationalization without adequate accountability, which is how things tend to operate in the US, is a terrible idea.
LikeLike
Most of european countries had government or city owned electricity plants and government or city owned electricity networks and as a consequence electricity prices were cheap.
Then consultants started brainwashing stupid politicians that private ownership is always better.
Politicians privatized electricity plants and electricity networks in most countries in Europe and of course new owners immediately jacked up electricity prices and transfer costs for electricity leading to less money in the wallets of poor people to consume other things because electricity bills doubled and tripled and leading to higher costs for companies on electricity so all companies had to hike prices of their products and services.
Especially energy intensive manufacturing industry having factories in Europe was losing even more compared to a factory in China where electricity was cheap in addition to labor being cheap and no costs for pollution.
.
The destruction incompetent politicians and greedy consultants have wreaked in Europe includes the jacking up of electricity prices.
.
The media predictably does not blame those incompetent politicians who sold electricity plants and networks for laughably low amounts and thereby caused the price increases, instead the media just wonders why electricity is so expensive now.

CIA and the intelligence community is having a massive case of projection going on…
.
Because US and CIA manipulated the situation in Ukraine to a point where there was a coup against a democratically elected russian speaking president and the muscle for this coup were ukrainian nazi-thugs and the chosen leader was picked by Nuland because Nuland thought “yats” aka Arseniy Yatseniuk was the guy he became ukrainian leader but promptly f*cked everything up because he went on with what the nazi-thugs were demanding so he removed russian language from it’s position as an official language and left only ukrainian language as the official language (Ukraine used to have both russian and ukrainian as official languages which is understandable because almost half of ukrainians are ethnically and linguistically russian.) so all russian speaking ukrainians were terrified because it showed that nazis had power in Ukraine and Arseniy Yatseniuk was ready to oppress russian speaking ukrainians.
.
This incompetent clusterf*ck by Nuland led to Russia seeing the opportunity to getting Crimea and they got it with 90% support in local elections because Crimea is russian speaking and was part of russia until 1950’s when drunk communist leaders gave it as a gift to Ukraine because Soviet Union was supposed to forever so borders did not matter.
Putin probably realized that if Ukraine is led by nazis and nazi-puppets ready to make russian language illegal then Russia could forget about renewing the lease on the only warm water navy base it has in Crimea so he acted quickly.
.
Then also other russian speaking parts of Ukraine started wanting to get away from Ukraine and instead of returning russian as an official language Yats sent ukrainian troops and when many of them refused Yats sent special units comprised of ukrainian-nazis who think russians are sub-humans.
Obviously this did not go well…
.
Clinton/Nuland combo is the most incompetent pair that has ever handled US foreign policy.
.
Now CIA is projecting that because US was ready to meddle in other countries internal politics and orchestrate coups even if it means working with ukrainian nazis that Russia must be equally power-mad like Clinton and Nuland were…

“As is the inn-keeper, thus he trusts his guest” is a saying in my country, indicating that people interpret others’ actions to mean what it would mean if they themselves were involved.
Jung talked about the shadow self, Freud about projection.
The whole meme by the US Defense establishment about hybrid information warfare, that is, achieving the results of warfare by other means, notably propaganda, is nothing else than a completely transparent self-revelation of what they themselves are doing and how they think. Russian defense spending is obviously intended for invasion of other countries.
The most peculiar thing about the Russia scare is that absolutely nothing has come to light since it was first started. Despite there being no additional facts or evidence, the story just keeps growing and transforming itself. Now they’re saying it’s not just the Russians, but Iran and China were in on it too. Everything that has been added since the democrats first blamed leaked emails on the Russians is pure echo chamber conjecture and speculation: The GRU did it, hackers used by Russian intelligence did it, WikiLeaks was in on it, Putin supervised it, RT and Russian media were marshalled to make Americans change their minds, Iran was part of it too … Even Clapper was still saying in October that there was a lot of hyperventilation going on about Russian attribution.
What if Putin et al were to simply state openly that they prefer a new president who will not bait them and is mindful of what military confrontation could lead to, and who tries to cooperate on matters of joint interest [they have said this], and they assess that Trump more likely fits this bill. Who cares? Obviously they would think that. Obama openly campaigned against Brexit! Obama even referred to “after we brokered a deal .. uh .. to transition power in Ukraine” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmUNCsT8TjU [00:19 second mark]
1. DNC/MSM favored Trump as an easily beatable Republican candidate, and enabled that scenario.
2. MSM gave Trump billions in free publicity. Even though they knew he was baiting and trolling them, they couldn’t help themselves, and thought their negative coverage would be a negative for Trump.
3. DNC/MSM subverted the democratic election process, favoring Clinton over Sanders, who would have been the better candidate to beat Trump, even hiring fixers who paid thugs to incite violence outside of Trump rallies and paid people to populate the DNC convention and keep out Sanders’ supporters.
4. DNC/MSM grip on reality was completely knocked out when the inevitable Trump loss did not happen, and they were themselves almost entirely to blame.
5. Psychotic denial sets in and everything is blamed on the omnipotent and omniscient puppet-master in Moscow: After all, almost nothing happens in Russia or the world without Him knowing about it.

Don’t know why Trump is being upbraided for not submitting to the authority of the intelligence community. There is already a precedent for this in living memory, e.g., BILL CLINTON. When Frank Eugene Corder crashed a plane onto the White House lawn in 1994, the running gag in Washington was that the pilot was [then CIA director] Jim Woolsey, trying to get a meeting with the president. It was common knowledge that Clinton was completely uninterested in meetings and briefings with the CIA. In fact, Clinton stated in an interview that he could pick up more from reading the NY Times or the Washington Post than from so-called intelligence briefings.

Our intel blames Russia and yet we meddle all the time in other country elections. I guess it is ok for us to do it. James Clapper is a know liar and they parade this guy in the testimony and yet even he stated no election machines were hacked.
I guess it is good to speak untruths and keep the public in the dark as to what really went on prior to the election. I wish our media had the reported on these problems but alas they are nothing more then presstitutes. Almost anyone that can read from a teleprompter or lie with a straight face could now qualify for a news anchor.
During the congressional certification of the election some senators did not want to certify the election because Hillary lost. I only hope their districts put them out of office. The voters handed Trump a win yes but the bigger picture is the republicans also now hold congress. This is the first time in 82 years people.

For decades a so-called anti-propaganda law prevented the U.S. government’s mammoth broadcasting arm from delivering programming to American audiences but on July 2, 2013 that taboo came silently to an end with the implementation of a new law passed in January. The law unleashed thousands of hours per week of government-funded radio and TV programs for domestic U.S. consumption.
This “reform” was criticized by many human rights activist as a green light for U.S. domestic propaganda efforts. Prior to that time the massive amount of U.S. programming produced by the Broadcasting Board of Governors such as Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, and the Middle East Broadcasting Networks could only be viewed and broadcast in foreign countries. Danger lurks where propaganda and surveillance intersect. More details about this in the article below.

Never mind the whole purpose of “Freedom of Speech”, is that ALL speech, by anyone, be allowed. Not just all speech made by approved by the ruling drones du jour.
If some schlub named Putin happens to have some information he feels may interest American voters, he is welcome to. Then voters can pay attention to him or not, as they see fit.
Heck, Freedom of Speech even extends far enough to allow tax feeders and their press stooges, who have dedicated their lives to rob the American people, the same privilege.

The funny thing is, the report’s supporting evidence that Russia favored Trump relies on RT’s history of supporting U.S. anti-establishment movements and, among other things, Occupy Wall St and US left wing anti-fracking movements. This is literally comedy gold!
The elephant in the parlor is that Russia (through RT) not only developed a clear preference for Trump in the general election, it developed an equally clear preference for Bernie Sanders in the primary.
Basically they would have preferred anyone to an establishment, warhawk, neocon candidate like Hillary.

I have seen one of our local TV stations news show make incorrect statements, purposely to cast doubt on Trump’s comment at he time, vs the intelligence community. That same anchor was giddy when during the election, a “new poll” showed Hillary with a sizable lead.

The hypocrisy is so extreme as to be nearly undefinable.
Didn’t Obama fly to Britain last year, MSM reporters in tow, on a US Taxpayer funded trip, and stand on British sovereign soil, and condensendingly attempt to influence the outcome of the once in a lifetime Brexit vote? Call me crazy, but that does appear to be a state sanctioned interference by the US in a foreign vote. Let’s also not forget, Obama followed up this overt influence-peddling campaign with a threat to our great friends in Britain, that if the vote was successful, they’d be “at the end of the queue” for trade deals with US.
And just for laughs: How many times in Hilary’s state department career has she openly discussed the legitimacy of foreign governments or tried to deviously, under-handledly or unfairly influence an election outcome? Bernie Sanders can initiate the answer to that question.
Across the board hypocrisy.

I can now reveal that Vladimir Putin personally traveled to London, and personally threatened the British people that they would be at the back of the line for trade agreements if they so much as dared to think about Brexit… Putin thought he could get away with influencing the UK vote, but the CIA found detailed and damning evidence that it was him.
Also, Putin personally snuck into PM David Cameron’s residence and moved his secret email server to an unsecure basement — right after MI6 advised him not to put classified emails on such a server.
And it was Putin who took pictures of a shirtless Anthony Weiner in bed with his baby daughter, sending the pics to teenage girls in the US instead of photoshopping in a scary looking bear like Putin promised. Worse, Putin stored the creepy pictures on the same laptop where Hiliary’s top assistant was keeping illegal copies of classified emails that weren’t supposed to be in Hilary’s basement server.
Putin did all of this without the NSA having a friggin’ clue while it was happening — in spite of the NSA conducting illegal mass surveillance on US citizens. Putin also did it without anyone realizing he was missing from Russia, or without anyone knowing he was in the USA, and while making it look like he was in China — because Putin makes David Copperfield look like an amateur illusionist.
Oh, and it turns out that all the emails the DNC leaked — I mean Putin hacked — were completely accurate depictions of the contempt Hilary and her staff have for all Americans including her donors… Its just that she didn’t want anyone to have concrete proof that she is an arrogant contemptuous crook.
It all makes perfect sense now.

What I don’t get is how 25% of the US population can possibly be stupid enough to buy into this rubbish. And considering the tens of billions of dollars the US intelligence services waste each year, couldn’t they come up with at least a plausible story?

I think you are doing a great disservice to the CIA with your article. You state the unclassified document has no hard proof of Russian involvement. I agree, but I’m not surprised because the hard proof is likely to disclose sources and techniques that would likely compromise their future capability and maybe put others at risk. I believe most of those at the CIA do their best everyday to protect us all.
Are you surprised Communist would try influence our election? I’m not and would expect them to try and our governments job is prevent it. Communist have had a long history of steering political influence going all the way back to early WW2 when the CIA was called OSS.
The CIA has no party affiliation and it is not unusual for high ranking career CIA serve both major political parties through their careers. When a President leaves office, I have never heard of a case where there was not mutual respect from the President to the CIA and vice-versa.
I take the CIA’s analysis a face value and they at least give some clarity to their confidence level in their conclusion. They are not perfect, but are the best a democratic society can provide.

If you read the Senate report and the CIA response you will see there are very numerous discrepancy’s pointed out by the CIA. But to classify then all as you have is disgusting. It’s is like saying our military is nothing but barbarians!
Yes, they made mistake with EI techniques and they admitted to that. But the mistakes were made early in this program and in every case they sought legal advice on what they could and could not do. It was also approved at the highest level by elected officials in both the White House and Senate. Clearly, water boarding was the harshest of the EI, but it was only applied to a few and it also led to the courier for Bin-Laden and then to Bin-Laden himself. Compare this to what has been clearly documented techniques used by the Soviets, Germans (WW2), ISIS and host of others.
You espouse that they are inept, that they didn’t detect 9/11. Well after the Soviet Union crumbled after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the CIA capability was reduced because of the peace dividend. Maybe if wasn’t downsized the outcome might have been different.
I don’t anyone’s commentary at face value, including yours. I believe Hillary’s problems were mainly caused by-Hillary. Walter, little boy… you seem to think only CIA agents know how an email server works or gets secured. The mistakes Hilary made disqualify her and her staff from running a high school email system — forget about a major diplomatic agency.
Your alleged knowledge of the OSS is very impressive if you are applying for a professor of history position at a college.
I don’t think any real spy — CIA or NSA or any of the 17 redundant bureaucracies — would even attempt to defend the ridiculous clown show that is currently going on in Washington.
A foreign government tried to influence US elections? Are you three years old? Of course they tried. And they tried when Obama was elected, and Bush, and Clinton and so on all the way back to when the King of England was trying to influence whether George Washington would be elected. Grow up Walter.
Did any of you so-called intelligence analysts notice the billions foreign governments were “donating” to the Clinton Foundation?
But your big hang up is that some DNC staffers leaked emails that showed Hilary is a liar, a crook, and is utterly contemptuous of middle class Americans?
And if you really know the first thing about the CIA’s history — you would know they have a bit of a credibility problem after WMDs, not to mention 9/11, and the “surprise” collapse of USSR, the bogus YouTube lie regarding Benghazi.
If CIA was serving the public, not just coming up with implausible stories to justify dumb decisions Bush / Obama already made … then CIA agents would have resigned in droves over the “WMD are a slam dunk” or the equally absurd “Benghazi was about a Youtube video”. And if you were even Americans, forget about CIA agents — you would have been sick to your stomachs when that perjuring turd James Clapper said US citizens can’t be trusted with our own security.
No one with integrity would still be sitting around now — much less making excuses for this Russian hacking nonsense

Fred,
Well Mr. Rodgers, one last reply then were done. I will also not stoop to the name calling. What is strange is that I actually think there are things we agree on.
Where did the comments about email server come from? I never said anything about email servers. Fred, I’m afraid you wouldn’t make a very good CIA analyst! I only commented on the classification of the CIA being inept and the call for all to be fired. Like generals and admirals, there are good ones, bad ones and occasionally…a really great one. Since you commented on history, isn’t the “Donalds” pick of General “MadDog” a believer in history that he travels with his own library? History does repeat.
The CIA is no different. They have been given a difficult mission and a set of rules that make the mission harder. Not saying the rules are not justified, just that different governments enforce different rules.
You start off your reply with “Walter, little boy”. Well, I’ve around the block a few times. Two tours in NAM, graduated with two advanced degrees and have had a career in designing IC’s
(you know those little chippie thing that are in things like cell phones). I have traveled on business to most of the countries in Europe, Far East with the most recent being Kiev,Ukraine for a couple of weeks before the election. While socializing at night it is not uncommon to discuss world politics. I think this gives me some view of the world.
I’ll say it again, my issue is the generalization of the CIA. You mention the failure of the WMD leading up to the Iraq war. But recall that Iran, UK, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and on and on though Saddam had these weapons. Saddam also wanted the surrounding countries to believe this also to maintain his power in the region. Unfortunately, he did too good of a job. The CIA has said this was a failure on their part. They did list in their reports some contradictions they found in analysis but the result was that it was more likely the WMD did exist.
I respect those that try their best to uphold the mission that the citizens have given the CIA, through their elected officials, to protect the USA.
Over and out.

I don’t claim to be a CIA analyst.
I do claim that spying on the Russians is practically the CIA’s reason d’etre… so if the Russians were hacking into Hilary’s unsecured basement server, it was the CIA’s job to know the Russian’s access to her thinking was a little too good. Why didn’t they?
I also claim that it is childish to feign surprise or upset that the Russians might try to influence a US election — especially given the CIA’s history of trying to influence elections all over the place. Even ignoring the CIA’s history, its childish to be surprised. That little boy, is the way it is.
But putting the country through this false hacking drama… just because Hillary lost? Why would any true patriot want to do that?

waltermitty,
The only problem with your “analysis” is that you are living in the past in 1950’s-1980’s.
Putin is NOT a communist, he is an ethno-nationalist who wants all russians to be russian including russianizing even the minorities (which I think is BAD) and he wants the russian government and russian people to control the riches Russia has.
.
If the Yeltsin model of capitalism where everything was sold to private interests for nominal amounts enabling massive transfers of wealth to corrupt oligarchs in the 1990’s had continued in Russia then global billionaires would own all the oil fields in russia and own all the oil companies in Russia and own all the oil and gas pipes of Russia and russians would live in total misery and poverty.
Putin was named as his successor by Yeltsin apparently because he thought that Putin would be a similar oligarch crony as Yeltsin had been and continue giving russian wealth to international billionaires after it had been first given to russian billionaire oligarchs.
Putin turned out to be a russian ethno-nationalist instead of Yeltsin style oligarch-crony giving everything away for pittances while drunk on power and vodka.
.
The US tacticians that helped Yeltsin get re-elected before Putins time helped him because he sold and gifted all the riches of Russia for nothing so US billionaires wanted Yeltsin in power to finish selling everything first to russian billionaire oligarchs who could then sell it for profit to western billionaires asset-stripping the country of Russia completely.
.
Similar kind of ideas that gripped Russia in the 1990’s of “privatize everything quickly” including electric networks and electric companies because “private ownership is always more effective than government ownership” have been spread by american McKinsey consultants and other consultants throughout Europe and as a consequence most european countries have privatized electricity companies that were government owned or city owned and this has lead to increase in living costs which has hurt the poor the most because once privatized for cheap the new owners have always increased electricity costs and earned their “investment” back quickly and kept reaping big profits.
The current “populism” in europe has been boosted by electricity bills rising quickly and many people seeing that the privatizations of electricity companies and electricity networks was made totally incompetently by european politicians.
.
Putin is a thug and he will keep power by changing laws as he sees fit and by controlling 90% of russian media (like anti-Trump establisment controls 90% of American media) and by buying regular russians votes by providing them services and welfare with the money Russia gets from oil through either owning the oil fields, owning 50+% of the oil companies or taking a cut from all gas and oil that leaves Russia through the russian government owning all oil and gas pipes out of Russia.
US democrats and most western european countries leading parties also buy voters with government welfare but USA and european countries fund this with increasing government debt.
The russian model of funding welfare with the riches the country has is much more sustainable.
.
Putins biggest crime is that he is not a stupid drunk like Yealtsin ready to sell all the riches of russian land for a pittance so russians can be robbed blind first by russian billionaire oligarchs and then by western billionaires who act just like russian oligarcs but in the west they are called just billionaires…
.
Every country should treat their natural riches like Russia treats it’s oil fields, gas fields, big oil companies, oil pipes and gas pipes…
.
Billionaires should “work” for their wealth like Zuckerberg has done with Facebook and the billionaires who have become billionaires by asset-stripping countries through corruption to get the countries oil, gas, electricity etc. companies and infrastucture cheaply are thieves and oligarchs both in the west and in Russia.
