UK prime minister Theresa May is living up to her word, if only all politicians did. May said red lines on immigration and European Court of Justice sets the parameters for Brexit talks.
In New York, the UK begins a concerted British effort to build ties with the new US administration
Please consider Theresa May Indicates UK Will Leave Single Market.
Theresa May has indicated that Britain will leave the EU single market as she set out her determination to strike a post-Brexit trading deal that allows her to control immigration from the rest of Europe.
Mrs May said she was not interested in trying to “keep bits of membership” of the EU, rather that she wanted a bespoke British deal with the rest of Europe that delivered “the best possible deal for UK companies”.
The prime minister’s allies admit the EU will not allow Britain to stay a member of the single market, given that Mrs May has already said that controlling immigration and ending European Court of Justice jurisdiction were red lines.
Mrs May will trigger the Article 50 exit clause before the end of March and is expected to set out her broad negotiating aims at that point, with officials eyeing a hybrid trade deal, combining elements of the single market and customs union.
Boris Johnson Meets Trump Team
In an effort to build ties with the new US administration, UK Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson Met with the Trump Team in New York.
Boris Johnson, the UK foreign secretary, has held talks in New York with senior members of Donald Trump’s team on Sunday as part of a concerted British effort to build ties with the new US administration.
Mr Johnson clashed with Mr Trump in 2015 after the president-elect claimed Islamists had made parts of London “no-go zones”; the former London mayor said he would not go to parts of New York because of “the real risk of meeting Donald Trump”.
But Mr Johnson put those reservations aside to hold for meetings with Mr Trump’s inner team including Steve Bannon, chief strategist, and Jared Kushner, the president-elect’s son-in-law. There had been speculation he might meet Mr Trump himself, but the encounter never came to pass.
The talks covered foreign policy issues and will have helped prepare for Mrs May’s visit to the White House, expected next month. On Monday Mr Johnson will meet Congressional leaders in Washington, including Speaker Paul Ryan, Senator Bob Corker and Senator Mitch McConnell.
Trump Interviews Brexit Supporter as U.S. Envoy to EU
Meanwhile, from the US side, Trump Interviews Brexit Supporter as U.S. Envoy to EU.
A professor who backed the U.K.’s decision to leave the European Union was interviewed for the job to become President-elect Donald Trump’s ambassador to the bloc, according to the Mail on Sunday.
Ted Malloch was recommended for the position by Nigel Farage, a political rival to U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May, and discussed the job with Trump’s team, according to the newspaper, citing an interview with the professor. Malloch didn’t immediately respond to a voicemail and e-mail on Sunday.
Obama Wrong Again
Please recall president Obama’s personally visited the UK on behalf of “Remain”. Shortly thereafter, support for “Leave” surged.
Obama also stated Britain would be “at the back of the queue” to secure a trade deal with the U.S.
Trump told Nigel Farage that Britain would be “at the front.”
Obama was wrong again.
Mike “Mish” Shedlock
Awesome.
Funny how no one in the UK complained about foreign powers interfering with their election or the losers are not trying to delegitimatize the winner of a UK election…
“Obama also stated Britain would be “at the back of the queue” to secure a trade deal with the U.S.”
After watching the talking heads and Michael Moore this weekend, I’m trying to be optimistic that they will allow Trump to BE president. He constitutes such a threat to so many powerful people that I believe desperation may rule the day.
The real problem Mcihael Moore et al have is that TV ratings are much more accurate than social media “eyeball” counts…
Absolutely no one is watching TV anymore. The idiot box has finally reached a point where even the idiots are offended by the lack of intelligent programming.
I find myself watching only the likes of HGTV, Discovery channel, etc. Network “news” is such a joke led by complete idiots. People like Scott Pelley at CBS Evening News are such low IQ idiots. It must be a great example of “The Peter Principle” where the most incompetent get promoted. Hell, we “promoted” Obama as our first “affirmative action” president! We got what you should expect from other affirmative action programs: mediocrity.
Heard Michael Moore is going to be leading the protest in Washington on the 20th. Trump should hire the Hell’s Angels grab that fire truck from Fahrenheit 9/11 and surround them.
Moore needs a career change. The Chicken Little routine is no longer working.
Maybe he could author cookbooks for anorexics.
Obama the economic illiterate.
Obama the fraud.
Nobel Peace Prize recipient.
Bombed seven countries while President.
Was the only US President EVER to be at war during every single day of an eight-year Presidency.
Leaving office with his Party so totally defeated, disgraced and in disarray that they have to blame it on “the Russians”.
Worst President ever?
You decide.
Claimed unprecedented power to kill anyone anywhere regardless of US citizenship on his authority alone. I think it’s important to remind people of that one.
Obama is a Democrat.
Democrat Party = ORGANIZED CRIME.
Clinton Family Foundation = International ORGANIZED CRIME.
Establishment Republicans = Self-Serving GLOBALISTS.
I’ll have to say – most of the commenters here really get it.
You failed to mention that he gave himself a “distinguished public service award” as well, according to Breitbart.

It sounds nice, but somehow, some way, this thing is going to end with middle fingers waving across the English Channel because of Brussels.
I have no idea how Obama managed to pull off such relatively high approval rating upon departing office. Every major issue he’s touched has turned to dog squeeze. Perhaps those approval rating polls were rigged too. His support for Hitlery didn’t seem to help her cause much. He may have inadvertently helped Trump. My guess is that the skeletons in Obama’s closet will start falling out later this year or next. Call me a ‘birther’ but I still question the validity of his birth certificate posted on the White House website. The evidence presented by the Maricopa Sheriff’s Office was pretty compelling. I haven’t seen any successful attempts to refute it. The evidence seemed to indicate it’s as phony as a $3 bill. Hopefully Trump can twist some arms behind closed doors and get the Feds to pick up the ball and continue the investigation where the MSO left off.
The Main-steam Media (MSM) told us that Obama had a high approval rating.
The MSM also told us that Trump would lose in a land-slide.
MEM = Fake News … !!!!!!
Correction:

DON’T BELIEVE ANY RATING, FORECAST OR POLL. There are forces at work we cannot point to but using psychology to influence. “Nudging”, “Pre-suasion”. Making it so.
“I have no idea how Obama managed to pull off such relatively high approval rating upon departing office”
1) Question everything, or,
2) Abandon any involvement in public discourse whatsoever. Ignore it all.
There’s nothing in between.
All other polls are wrong. What makes you think his approval rating poll is accurate.
“I have no idea how Obama managed to pull off such relatively high approval rating upon departing office.”
Simple, an uninformed/misinformed, cognitive biased, successfully propagandized citizenry lacking or unable to apply the learned skill of critical thought and analysis. You know, the usual sheep, as throughout history, highly vulnerable to the propaganda described by Edward Bernays in his classic text.
Confirmation? So very many to choose from. Most recently: the popular vote in the last election (not that Trump was anywhere near an ideal prez candidate, but Hillary… I mean, come on) and the widespread acceptance as fact of anything from our intel community without their providing detailed proof of any kind.
Mosh has the readers he so deserves. LOL

It’s because we live in Mike Judge’s “Idiocracy”
On Obama’s high approval rating leaving office – was the question “Do you approve of President Obama now that he is leaving office”?
The EU days are numbered. The influence of the Democratic Party has been diminished. I wonder how many people watched the golden globes last night. Political talk for such events turn people off, that includes sports.
We are seeing technological changes in information which have media on their heels. Their credibility has been damaged.
If the democrats suffer further defeats in 2018 elections their brand will be severely damaged and may result in a new direction for democrats.
“Please recall president Obama’s personally visited the UK on behalf of “Remain”.”
Foreign intervention in an election, by Obama. Jamie Dimon interfered in their election as well. How many others, including the EU?
Mrs May wanted “the best possible deal for trading with and operating within the Single European Market”
http://www.eureferendum.com/blogview.aspx?blogno=86337
What Mrs May said and what the MSM says she said are not always the same. If only UK politicans and media would get out of their bubbles and get a grip of the subject.
