This bit of asininity just came in from McCain: Send Weapons to Ukraine.
McCain also repeated idiotic comments on Russian interference in the US election.
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is calling on President Trump to send lethal aid to Ukraine after attacks this week were blamed on Russia-backed rebels.
“Vladimir Putin’s violent campaign to destabilize and dismember the sovereign nation of Ukraine will not stop unless and until he meets a strong and determined response,” wrote McCain, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
McCain also reiterated his call for Trump to maintain sanctions on Russia and impose new ones for Russia’s interference in the U.S. election.
Failing to provide more help to Ukraine, McCain said, risks the country’s sovereignty and American credibility.
“Ukrainians are not asking Americans to do their fighting,” McCain said. “Nearly 10,000 Ukrainians have died to protect their homeland and many more are serving and have sacrificed for the cause of a free and united Ukraine. But America does have a proud history of helping free people to defend themselves.”
Just after I published Preposterous Rumors From Pelosi on Russia, Trump, Sanctions, McCain started yapping.
My article concluded “It could have been worse. The warmongers led by Senator John McCain and Hillary Clinton were itching for a major fight with Russia. Fools like Pelosi add fat to the fire.”
If McCain wants to understand the source of the mess in Ukraine, Libya, Syria, and Iraq, all he has to do is look in a mirror.
McCain and his warmongering collection of neocons are the problem. The sooner McCain leaves the Senate, the better off the US will be and the safer the world will be.

McCain is personally responsible for much of the mess in Ukraine. He has blood on his hands.
By the way, is there any doubt McCain preferred Hillary over Trump?

OMG, I am so happy that McCain never became president.
Trump will send all the neocons back to the Democrat party where they belong.
Trump endorsed John McCain in the AZ republican primaries when his rival, had a good chance of beating him.
“… I hold in the highest esteem Sen. John McCain for his service to our country in uniform and in public office, and I fully support and endorse his re-election,” –Donald Trump
That was after McCain took back comments on Trump
Context is everything.
Best thing Obama ever did was keep McCain from being president.
Stephen..not to be argumentative…however Trump continues the Presidential support for the Yemeni war (a war few Americans were AWARE of,until the Death of an American SEAL~there very recently ) and Militarily Helping the Saudi’s in Yemen to keep them in the ‘Petro-dollar camp’ I am afraid the NeoCons are far from jumping-off the Republican Ship…lolol thanks for reading
My concern as well. Trump’s strength is not foreign affairs. He is being directed in this area. Why the Iranaphobia? Need a boogeyman? A dubious wedge in the Eurasian plan? Following wishes of Israel, worried about Hezbollah support? We’ve done nothing but torture Iran, no wonder they are pissed. Maybe Putin will bro down with Trump and give him a heads-up.
Dude. He’s been President for a grand total of 13 days. He’s done more productive work in that time than he last 2 presidents have done in 16 years.
This may prove to be the best thing that ever happened in the USA. We are still here:
“Going to the candidates’ debate
Laugh about it, shout about it
When you’ve got to choose
Every way you look at it you lose”
~ Simon & Garfunkel
I wish Milo Yanniapoulus would run against McCain for that senate seat.
He’s a pervert whose speech was sponsored by David Horowitz, a communist who reinvented himself as a “conservative.”
McCain wouldn’t know what to do with himself if he wasn’t dealing in weapons.
POS.
Not to mention how would the wife keep getting those big war contracts:
Veterans Today
Washington—According to a high-placed federal agent actively based in Washington, DC who spoke with federal whistleblower Stewart Webb, Republican presidential candidate and Senate Armed Services Ranking Member John McCain’s wife Cindy Hensley McCain’s multiple undisclosed federal income tax returns will reveal millions in Iraq War military procurement contract profits involving Hensley & Co. (Hensley Beer), Mrs. McCain’s large Anheuser-Busch beer distribution firm.

we have to fight somebody, dammit!
When your only tool is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
McCain is proof positive that not all political idiots come from the democrat side. In fact “Bomb Bomb” McCain is about as bad as any of them.
Senile ole coot
The scariest thing is he probably believes he’s right and anyone with an opposing opinion is wrong.
So then you have to ask why is his take on reality different?
His membership in America’s most exclusive debate club might have something to do with his insularr worldview.
Do you have a link or name for it please?
He’s referring to the US Senate. It was once called the world’s most powerful debate club; or something to that effect

Meanwhile… US troops are flying Trump’s flag.

Worry about the president’s interventionist rumblings, not the senators’. Fresh new Iran sanctions a-coming from the “peace candidate,” who also has been walking loudly with his big stick, talking about some new boots in … Mexico. Not funny, that kind of talk,
Reminds me of President Wilson whose two campaign slogans were:
“American First”
“He Has Kept Us Out of War”
After reelection, Wilson sent US troops into WW1

“US Senator John McCain spent New Year’s Eve at a frontline outpost in eastern Ukraine, pledging continued support for Kiev in the face of Russian “aggression.”

US politicians go to Ukraine to try to provoke war against Russia… while they foster the violent overthrow of the government of Syria, Russia’s ally, Assad… then they turn around and complain that Russia has influenced the US election.

They aren’t – at least that I can tell

Happens sometimes even from same connection. Can be number of links in a comment, combination of words etc. Had a plain text comment blocked by a few words ( not profane) as far as I could make out, let me post in paragraphs except for one. More than two links in a comment seems to get moderated.?.
Why are Russian interference comments, “idiotic” Mish? Is your position that there was absolutely no interference, or just that America does it as well, so that makes it ok?
My position is we have no idea if the allegations are true, how much was affected even if they tried, and the US is nothing but a bunch of hypocrites because when it comes to interference the US is the wosrt nation on the planet
And who frigging cares?!? Of course the Russians interfere. Why wouldn’t they? They have national interests just like we do, and we interfere in frigging EVERYTHING. Even if the accusation is correct, the worst thing the Russians did was to expose the truth about what dupliscitous liars democrats are..
We should award them the Medal of Freedom for it.
Right on, Tim. Redstate must be upset because Putin does not want to go to war with us.
One of the things I like most about Mish is that we are both virulently against war. But Mish, TJ and Tim all basically said, America does it as well, so that makes it ok. By that logic, if another country dropped a military drone on some civilians in Macon Georgia, I should not get upset about it, Because America does it as well.

Latest news…. Trump is now pouring water on Netanyahu’s new settlements.
I told you McCain would blow a gasket.
He’s an a-hole with legs.
Hat tip to the Saker, but this video of Trumps new U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley shows that there are still vociferous neo-cons in power. These words are at complete odds with what Trump said during his campaign, and more of same warmongering lies we have been spoonfed by the media for years. I wonder who’s really in charge?
Donald always starts the negotiation from an extreme position. Hopefully this is just another one of those. Otherwise, he needs to have a talk with Nikki.
No idea how they will sort this out, irrespective of what is spoken in UN, irrespective of who is escalating. What is US supposed to do/say , recognise Crimea and eastern Ukraine against the wishes of Kiev, pressure Kiev in favour of that, de-legitimise Kiev ?
Shame we don’t have trustable clear reporting on frontline events and who exactly is applying pressure. I think Trump is potentially less in command of how Kiev or groups in Ukraine act than Putin on his side. That does not exclude other US influence on Kiev though.
Someone must have given the command. When I turned on FOX news this morning… it too was beating the Ukraine anti-Russia war drums. Something is up… something big.
She must say what she must say to get the job.
All McCain is interested in is selling arms for the Military-Industrial Complex.
This idiot has no conscience nor does he care for the many people who die uselessly in these wars that make no sense.
“By the way, is there any doubt McCain preferred Hillary over Trump?” Mish
Yes. Russia is just one concern among many for Graham and McCain, which is probably why they carry their states. On NBC’s Meet the Press after the usual anti-Russia rants, McCain and Graham appearing together were asked about that. Both replied that though they disagreed with Trump on Russia, on almost everything else they agreed with Trump and said Hillary was a disaster. McCain and Graham were happy Hillary crashed and burned, and enthusiastically ecstatic that Trump won. Check the NBC Meet the Press video archives for yourself.
BTW, check out the latest Ukraine stories, and you will see little has changed and that Trump is being boxed in:

The United States should keep its anti-Russian sanctions in place as long as Crimea remains a part of Russia, Washington’s UN Ambassador Nikki Haley told the UN Security Council. “Crimea is a part of Ukraine,” she said. “Our Crimea-related sanctions will remain in place until Russia returns control over the peninsula to Ukraine.” She added that her country was seeking to improve relations with Moscow, at the same time asserting that Crima’s reunification with Russia was “aggression,” “occupation” and “military intervention.”
Crimea and Sevastopol voted to become a part of Russia on March 16, 2014, in a historical referendum in which 80% of the republic’s registered voters took part. A total of 96.7 of those who cast their ballots in Crimea and 95.6 of those in Sevastopol supported reunification with Russia…In July 2014, the European Union and the United States imposed sanctions against Crimea and Russia and have repeatedly extended and expanded them.
Vladimir the Great will not give up Crimea.
No Russian leader will give up Russia’s only Black Sea port. It is not a Putin issue. It is a Russia national security issue transcending Putin. Since Crimea will always remain Russian, USA economic sanctions as outlined by Trump’s UN Ambassador are a de facto permanent declaration of war against Russia and Germany.
Think about it: USA is milking some German companies (e.g. Deutsche Bank, Volkswagen) of billions via fines and harming others (precision engineering) via killing an export market. Perhaps a way to lower German GDP and trade balances, and old habits (Germany was enemy in WWI & WWII). Russia sanctions are thus a USA two-fer, knocking down Russia and Germany (also an old UK foe) at the same time.
My post was an historical play on words.
In 988, “Vladimir the Great”… Vladimir I, Prince of the Rus… was baptized in Crimea. Then Prince Vladimir returned to his capital, Kiev, and baptized his Rus kingdom. Crimea is the cradle of Russian Christianity.
Crimea is also critical to Russia’s Black Sea fleet.
As for Germany… Peter the Great said Germany is Russia’s key to Europe.
Russia proved to be the stumbling block to both Napoleon’s and Hitler’s dream to conquer all Europe. Ironically, Putin, who lived in East Germany when the Berlin Wall “suddenly, mysteriously” fell, has already conquered that stumbling block.
The United States should keep its anti-Russian sanctions in place as long as Crimea remains a part of Russia, Washington’s UN Ambassador Nikki Haley told the UN Security Council. “Crimea is a part of Ukraine,” she said.
Haley knows that Crimea is a historical part of Russia.
Why is Crimea any part of US business?
By the way, Crimea is now part of Russia, and the citizens of Crimea voted that way overwhelmingly
Radio Free Europe suggests Ukraine initiating ‘creeping offensive’ to provoke aggression from Russia:
“Frustrated by the stalemate in this 33-month war of attrition, concerned that Western support is waning, and sensing that U.S. President Donald Trump could cut Kyiv out of any peace negotiations as he tries to improve fraught relations with Moscow, Ukrainian forces anxious to show their newfound strength have gone on what many here are
calling a ‘creeping offensive.’

Marshall’s piece:

Nicky Haley has already denounced Russian aggression in Ukraine. Trump is being undone by insiders and you can expect Tillerson will start denouncing Putin soon. If Trump tries to fire them, his cabinet will declare him unfit for office. World war III will then be very close.
Odd that Trump would select a liberal Indian woman to be UN ambassador. I had hoped Trump would get the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US and she would soon be out of a job [just deserts for trashing the Southern Cross flag.]
Speaking of Ukraine and the Confederate Southern Cross flag… I always thought it curious how much the Novorossiya “New Russia” flag resembled it.
