The always entertaining Nigel Farage was on fire again today in European Parliament. Farage correctly warned EP members about their desire for “more Europe” when citizens of nearly every country are fed up with the policy.
Partial Farage Transcript
I feel like I am attending a meeting of a religious sect here this morning. It’s as if the global revolution of 2016, Brexit, Trump, the Italian rejection of the referendum, has completely bypassed you.
You can’t face up to the fact that this bandwagon is going to roll across Europe in these elections in 2017. A lot of citizens now recognize this form of centralized government simply doesn’t work. … At the heart of it is a fundamental point: Mr. [name not recognized] this morning said, the people want more Europe.
They don’t. The people want less Europe. We see this again and again when people have referendums and they reject aspects of EU membership. But something more fundamental is going on out there. …. No doubt, many of you here will probably despise your own voters for what I am about to say because just last week, Chatham House, the reputable group, published a massive survey from 10 Europen states, and only 20% of people want immigration from Muslim countries to continue. Just 20%. … Which means your voters have a harder line position on this than Donald Trump, or myself, or frankly any party sitting in this Parliament. I simply cannot believe you are blind to the fact that even Mrs. Merkel has now made a u-turn and wants to send people back. Even Mr. Schulz thinks it is a good idea.
And the fact is, the Europen Union has no future at all in its current form. And I suspect you are in for as big a shock in 2017 as you were in 2016.
Analyzing Le Pen’s Chances Once Again
Le Pen supporters are from the same socioeconomic class as Trump supporters and Brexit supporters. Eurointelligence offers this view of the situation.
Elites vs underdogs – French edition
If you look at the voters of Emmanuel Macron, you might wonder what his chances are to win against Marine Le Pen. Ifop looked at the profile of those who intend to vote for him. One of the striking statistics was that Macron only gets 14% from workers, the same as Jean-Luc Mélenchon! In this class, Marine Le Pen reigns with 37% support, while Benoit Hamon does slightly better than the others with 18%. The most telling feature, in our view, is that the more educated people are more likely to vote for Macron and the less educated go for Marine Le Pen.
Education has been one of the dividing lines also in the Brexit vote and the American elections, and we all know what happened there. Add to this that Macron is the urban favorite, but not in the outskirts, the infamous banlieues, and you end with a candidate of the elites against a candidate of the underdogs. And it is not that immigrants living in those banlieus are against Le Pen, as one might expect. Many of them have been there for some time now and the last thing they want is more immigration.
So if Marine Le Pen and Emmanuel Macron end up in the second round, will we see another stand-off between the elite candidate and the underdog star? They effectively stand for two different world views. Le Pen divides the world into globalists and patriots, Macron into progressives and conservatives, notes Journal du Dimanche. In the US, Chris Arnade saw Trump’s victory as a result of the social isolation of the uneducated whites. Could this also happen in France?
People are fed up. This is precisely why the odds of a Marine le Pen victory in France are widely underestimated.
Mike “Mish” Shedlock
“Chris Arnade saw Trump’s victory as a result of the social isolation of the uneducated whites” This Chris Arnade is as thick as they come. Cro-magnon had more wits. When the system fails, people choose against the system. Hitlary is part of the system therefore a loser. Trump is not with the system so he is “worth a try”. Do not think in terms of intelligent and unintelligent. Those who think they are intelligent at times commit suicide just like some past bankers who thought they could win at derivatives. So much for thinking intelligence. People are mostly the same. Sometimes their synapses work and sometimes synapses do not work. Logic and reason is the path to wisdom but we have to challenge and prove what is said to be true first. Anyone can make a statement like Chris Arnade but let us see your proof first otherwise you are just a fraud trying to manipulate.
People on the left can only see identity politics. Thus they must find a group to blame it on, uneducated whites. To them everything revolves around PC and identity politics. They cannot break from their paradigm and see the truth of Trumps win last November.
YEP ! IDENTITY POLITICS……that’s EXACTLY what the Left needs. The Dem’s are now made up of a hunnert different fringe groups (some big, some small) that they had assumed would WIN for Hillary – just because they all thought she deserved it for supporting THEM.
And all they ever did was hang around with themselves….and couldn’t believe – and still don’t – that the rest of the world just doesn’t get it, the way they do…..
That’s why they hate us. We’re all wrong and stupid….and they are right about their hunnert different causes……
The Left’s lack of introspection is what is killing them. Its like they’re walking around to everyone who disagrees with them carrying a mirror and demanding that those people take a long good look at what a bad person they see. Meanwhile, those carrying the mirror would literally turn to stone if they turned it around
Narcissistic psychopaths are notoriously poor at “introspection”.
The natives have been pretty non violent in their disagreements with the ruling class.
That is going to end soon if they keep changing the rules after their candidates win elections.
ala “after Merkel, the deluge?”
The focus on the ‘undereducated’ is false. There is a huge mass of educated people voting for the ‘populist’ position.
The Ruling Elite Has Lost the Consent of the Governed

Just Call It Like You See It, Nigel !!
Aloha Mish…I have read your Blog for awhile and Have a great deal of respect for your Views and Opinions. I do not always agree…and that’s what makes a Ballgame…lolol I think the biggest issue in this whole ‘Populist’ vs ”Establishment’ scenario is that too many confuse Intellect with Wisdom. I must say in all candor you have at times succumbed to its ‘Siren Call’ as well, since you are far from being a foolish person…lolol People with too many vested interests and High Intellects can not always SEE the ‘Trees for the Forest’ EU People missed Brexit and the Massive Media/Entertainment Hype ‘Blinded’ Americans to Trump..etc etc .’Occams Razor’ says the Simplest Solution/answer is Usually Correct. I am continually amazed how the Elite Politicians,Financial Czars, Intellectual ‘Prognosticators’…et al…Lack the ‘Basic Wisdom’ to Understand that most people are Simply ‘Pissed-Off’ at the Status Quo and ‘Domestic Environment’ in which they find themselves and Want CHANGE,,,Period..! Its not Political ‘Rocket Science’…thanks for reading, aloha
Well done Mr Farage. It’s rare these days to see a politician paying attention to what’s really going on in the collapsing electorate. Denial is clearly a big part of modern Keynesianism.
I was shocked at Farage’s statement a recent poll showed only 20% surveyed wanted to continue the asylum program. That is an extreme reading and calls for immediate policy change.
“The collapse of liberalism has laid waste to vast swaths of land, all too ready for political medicine man to scatter their seeds of destruction” This was the opening of an Austrian economics book, modified to suit the politics of today. Nigel the Frog Farage is one such medicine man, as is trump and others. It is no coincidence that their popularity corresponds with the collapse of 2008 and the subsequent failure of the political elites to act responsibly to put it mildly. It is not their ideas that are attracting people, if it where so, they would have been popular before 2008. So let’s praise Farage and trump for their ability to lie themselves into power, but let’s not delude ourselves and pretend we are dealing here with some brilliant man whose ideas are worth even mentioning.
Their ideas are worth mentioning – because the last set of ideas had the civilized world headed off a cliff….in an ever increasing speed.
Your previous bus driver had headed the bus to the edge of destruction. The new bus driver may not even be a qualified driver, but he knows enough to turn the wheels away from the cliff……
Lie themselves to power ?
When power has become a lie, all that aspire to it must be liars, no ?
What if Farage is telling the truth?
What happens if truth is suppressed?
Before 2008, if they said what they now say, they would have been Liars.
Perhaps not so in these years.
2016/7 environment is not 2008 partly because of being unwilling to consider unpalatable truths since.
Like them or loathe them there is a place for unpalatable truth tellers.
Don’t shoot the messenger, think, is this a truth I cannot countenance but nevertheless a truth?
The book you refer to alludes to totalitarianism – Hitler, Mussolini etc.
Let’s be clear, an EU that does not listen to the populace will lead to the rise of new totalitarianism and is itself a form of such.
The current form of EU may well lead to that which it endeavours to avoid.
Ironic if Farage is helping avoid such and save the EU from itself.
Birtley, open your vista’s and think the unthinkable. Afterwards you will be able to return to original thoughts in confidence having considered alternatives.
I think the EU IS the new totalitarianism, which will lead to an even worse one of global governance and global money
We will not know trumps popularity until 2018 and 2020. The media will not let us know the truth. If Democrats continue losing then he is popular. If not then his movement will be over. I believe the wall and immigration will be enough alone to get reelected. It is a big issue that people will not talk about because of our PC culture.
THAT’s why the polls were so wrong. Nobody talked about who they REALLY were gonna’ vote for – ’cause they didn’t want to get into a fight with the hard-left intolerant ones….
20%. Wow. That’s a lot of European deplorables. 80% of Europeans to be precise.
Perhaps they want jobs for their kids first?
It’s not all me, me, me. It might be my family, my locality, my community, my village/my town, my country.
Some are prepared to sacrifice to give their kids a chance rather than see them having to struggle for minimum wage jobs vs an unlimited supply of new labour.
The system failed to drive home the importance of education to the working class indigenous or didn’t offer sufficiently worthwhile education.
The ladder up to Middle Class status is gone or too narrow and now those on the bottom rung feel swamped – but they are waking up to the VOTE!
Ideally you have an elevator so each generation moves up compared to the last. New entrants are then not seen as such a threat.
The Elites, already up the ladder, cannot understand this.
Education is critical to give working class kids a chance.
Discipline in schooling is critical.
The political elite have failed, again.
Now the Politicos blame populists and unpalatable truth tellers.
It is me, me, me to the Politicos – they are the “me”.
YEP. The future MUST be good schools, good training, and good discipline. At Home AND at School…..because without both, neither will work. That is SO obvious to the casual observer.
Fish..Critical Thinking is the ‘Key’ to Education and Success in almost any Field or Endeavour… The Tragic Issue…Its Practice has been Increasingly and Knowingly Removed from the Higher Educational Systems in Europe and America…to better Create a Gigantic Caste system of Younger Narcissistic, yet Easily INFLUENCED and ‘Media-Guided’ Cadre of ‘Sheepel’…truly Sad and a perfect field to ‘Sow’ the Seeds of Generational ‘Destruction’… thanks for reading
Guy Verhofstadt was the name you missed. He’s the European Parliament’s lead Brexit negotiator. He’s always in conflict with Farage.
Guy Verfofstadt is an open borders lunatic even worse than Angela Merkel and he is one of the people in EU whose solution to millions of muslims coming to EU would have been to continue let them all in until tens of millions had come to europe.
The millions coming in 2015-2016 were LURED by high acceptance rates for even bogus and fake asylum claims by iraqis, somalis, afganistanis and others and political decision by Sweden and Germany to give 100% acceptance to ALL syrians meaning even those who had already lived years in SAFETY in Turkey were given asylum and the ultimate LURE was of course free apartment and free welfare money for the rest of their lives in welfare paying europe and quick family re-unification straight to welfare.
.
The rush was LURED by Sweden, Germany and EU (with incompetent EASO and stupid EU-directives) but the RUSH was made possible by Greece PUSHING everyone coming to Greece to welfare paying europe as a government policy by Syriza and Tsipras.
Italy PUSHED over 50% of people coming to Italy in italian ships through the italian sea taxi service from the libyan coast to welfare europe by “losing” them before registration.
Once France closed their border with Italy in the summer of 2015 italians started giving almost 100% acceptance to even fake asylum seekers to push them toward welfare europe by ABUSING EU-free movement by giving residence permit which gives free movement rights in EU and then sending them north with French border police no longer able to stop them because Italy had made them LEGAL to get rid of them.
.
Greece and Italy should not be in EU because of their ABUSE of others OR then Tsipras in Greece and Renzi in Italy have to be voted out by greeks and italians.
Renzi was already voted out and hopefully his comeback is stopped.
The new Italian prime minister Gentiloni seems much more sensible than Renzi and has made a deal to return people saved at sea to Libya to stop the rush to europe and stop the smuggling business and stop drownings.
Renzi should have done the Gentiloni policy in 2015 but Renzi was too busy pushing everyone coming to Italy to northern europe which attracted even more people to come to Italy because the only thing that attracts asylum seekers to Italy and Greece is the ability to get through them to welfare paying europe and get the free apartment and the free welfare money from countries in western europe and northern europe.
.
Sweden and Germany need to also democratically change their governments although both Sweden and Germany have stopped actively LURING people to come and tightened policies a little bit there is still much more tightening to be made and the INSANITY done by Sweden and Germany in 2015-2016 need to be publicly condemned so it never happens again.
I love the way they have to use the word “uneducated”, because what they are actually doing is attempting at all cost to NOT use the word “Poor”.
Because start doing that and you see what a dickish move it is at the sneering IYI classes of the cities go to to make themselves look better, you know since calling them names like “racist” “xenophobe” “bigot” doesnt appear to have as clout as it used to.
Who is in charge of the education system?
You guessed, the ones in the Parliaments.
So who is to blame?
Turn the below around.
Change AMERICANS to LEADERS.
Currently the leaders are focused outside their borders whilst inside resentment grows amongst the ignored who are then labelled.
“My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”
Mish, it’s not entertaining.
It’s quite serious.
The consequences of poor governance over 400 million+ people that should have a high per centage middle class (and growing %) will be felt globally.
Mish, as always when talking about lepen, you are missing an important point : she or her father were never able to reach more than 15% of registered voters over a 40 years period. N e v e r . So, keeping that in mind, it means that you need more than 71% of abstention to get her elected. Well, that just never happened before in France, at any time… (about 40% abstention max).
Furthermore, Lepen doesn’t wan’t France to Frexit, and had repeatedly said so.
FYI, the only one party in France which want the Frexit is called UPR and is fully ban from main stream media, so that only a little part of France know it exists ! It has more than 15k members, to be compared to environmental party with less than 6k, or Republican Front with less than 10k, or lepen with about 80k
That her father could not win is totally irrelevant. Is he running or is she?
In fact, she purged her father because he was too extreme. So please do not say she can “never” win. Recall that people said Trump could “never” win, and Brexit could “never” happen.
As for leaving the Euro, she absolutely wants France to exit the euro.
The European Commission’s policy is to continue beating the populace until morale improves.
Farage articulates spectacularly! Maybe this time, these people will listen to him and takes his words seriously. Marginalizing this man, at this point, would cripple a career politicians job.
As for le Pen, if she can back up her promises, then she’s in for the long haul. There’d have be some shyster shenanigans behind closed doors to shut her out, and THAT would go over like a lead balloon with her voter block, which I think is growing, is it not?
I just would like to bring attention to a very odd correlation that has been missed by most: Back in 1968 a much respected and great leader De Gaulle was pushed aside By George Pompidou the then prime minister who became president. Pompidou was the former managing Director of the Rothschild Bank.
Today Emmanuel Macron is also a former director of the Rothschild Bank, coming from nowhere it seems, to seek the presidency.
It does not take much Brains to figure that these two events are related. Macron is the candidate of the Atlanticist Banks. Both Pompidou and Macron sold out their country. Pompidou quietly sold the Banque of France (France’s central bank) to private bankers in the early 70’s for real cheap. Macron screwed France as Finance minister by arranging the sale of Alstom to GE for pennies on the dollar. billions of Euros under its fair value. In both cases the powers that be (Rothchild and friends) owned the media so both crimes were squashed.
MD….the ‘Populist Genie’ is out of the Bottle…even ALL the Rothschild’s Cash nor Influence can fasten the ‘Lid’…lolol
This documentary aired by the Beeb last night is worth a decker – Just for once we don’t have a load of politically correct no-liberal hogwash. Well worth an hour if you can set one aside …

Politicians can get away with almost anything as long as the public feels they benefit (and particularly the benefit of modest entrepreneurs in the so called middle classes) – the political class has failed as they have failed to harness the enormous wealth that has flowed one way and been taken out of circulation. Monetary theory and ideas of freedom are again in need of adjustment to cope with the challenges of modern tech. and rapid change. That change won’t be made by the comfortable beneficiaries of the current regimes so some pain is inevitable.
One thing the elite forget is that most of the population talk to each other rather than at each other – and ignorance has no boundaries even among those arrogant enough to call themselves educated. We should have more of the Farage’s to call out the privileged ignorant ‘educated’.
Modern MSM free communication is doing a good job in reining in some of the more slimy moves and even those rolling in wealth beyond what even Croesus dreamed of are starting to get worried – given that politicians are spineless maybe the rich might see the writing on the wall first and promote change – otherwise their wealth has no meaning and the future might be more random than we all want.
Just maybe, Trump is aware and will get-it.
France is not known for quiet change and has a large privileged bureaucracy to topple.
