Here is the infographic but I cannot find the poll questions or the poll methodology.
Close scrutiny shows the word “overwhelmingly” may be quite a bit biased given the above infographic.
There is a huge difference between 80% support for turning over people who commit crimes and “overwhelming” support in general.
The Hill notes “The online survey of 2,148 registered voters was conducted between Feb. 11 and 13. The partisan breakdown is 39 percent Democrat, 30 percent Republican, 27 percent independent and 5 percent other. The Harvard–Harris Poll survey is a collaboration of the Harvard Center for American Political Studies and The Harris Poll.”

As of 12:37 AM on February 22, the HarrisPoll website shows no reference to the sanctuary city poll, but it does link to ten other polls.
The Harvard Center for American Political Studies does not mention the poll either.

Reuters analyzed federal grant records to tally the estimated federal funding at risk among the 10 largest cities which totaled an estimated $2.27 billion.
The total amount remains unclear, as federal money can be filtered through state governments or granted directly to social-service organizations or other groups.

The important thing to remember is that Republicans like control just as much as Democrats do. But then, Harvard itself and most institutions linked to Harvard lean strongly left. If you found a centrist-run poll you might well find 80% approval for crackdowns on so called sanctuary cities.
The question is: Did they adjust the polls to account for that?
The whole thing is screwy.
If the pollster believes that progressives are the majority, then they feel fully justified in using larger numbers of them in their poll. Regardless, it is their JOB to tell us how to think.

Ahh good ole Harvard results from polls and studies. Having myself work with Harvard on housing studies, they are always biased towards whatever party is sitting in office. Why you may ask, the sitting party is paying for the studies and year after year the studies never display how the results or the data collected, was collected.
Personally I am all for with holding funds to sanctuary cities. I am sure many want illegal oh I meant undocumented aliens living on our dime. Hell a council woman in Santa Fe did not care about losing federal funding her solution was to simply raise the property owners taxes to cover the losses without the people having a vote to support her big mouth. Gotta love someone spending someone else’s money without their input.
The IRS or the State tax collection agency can take everything you have if you do not pay your taxes but it is ok to spend US citizen’s money on people here illegally. Better yet give them free housing as well because they have an anchor baby. The rest of the family all 6 of them are her illegally though.
At this point, the only taxation we enjoy representation with, is the sales tax, because we don’t have to buy things if we don’t want to. Oh yeah–except food and clothing.

I never get a reply to that arithmetic. Is it nonsense? Irrelevant? Were the Founders just completely wrong? Were human dynamics really so different then? With us being that much farther along, at 1:700,000 just for federal taxes, and 1:20,000 for the additional layer local taxes that is now at bare minimum eight times as much per capita as the original Federal Government collected in 1800, what hope is there for representation?

Formatting the question is the most important thing about polls.
The question should be as above to get 95% to oppose sanctuary cities.
A more accurate measure would be to collect and include the current occupational breakdown of the polling sample.
So, you are saying that if an American-born citizen rapes and murders an innocent person, they will go to jail in a sanctuary city. But if an illegal immigrant does the same the police release them to the streets?
Is that really what happens in sanctuary cities? I honestly don’t know and don’t follow this thing, but I would find it hard to believe that they’re releasing suspected criminals.

We are supposed to be a nation of laws, NOT ideologies. Progressives REFUSE to use our congress to actually make law, and they refuse to use the constitution to make amendments that would allow laws to be changed. Instead they use courts to redefine our constitution and ideological elected leaders to simply ignore laws of which they do not like…..and these SAME people ae in the streets complaining of Fascism and tyranny when their education has obviously failed in that they are directly SUPPORTING BOTH through their protests. From my limited experience, illegals don’t steal other people’s SS#s, they just get paid under the table. I read an article about a chicken processing facility in Iowa (or maybe Kansas) and the owner was just paying hundreds of illegals under the table, when they got busted.

Anyone paying under the table is likely doing it with cash. As a business owner, if I choose to pay an employee in cash, then that cash must come from accounts that must report 1099 or else it comes from MY cash which has already had a hefty tax extracted from it.
My experience is that most illegals are employed under a social security number, that typically MUST be appropriated (stolen), and in doing so virtually EVERY DAMNED ONE is claiming massive dependents…6,8, 10, which means they pay NO income tax and only SSI. Of course we have NEVER heard of an illegal being audited, and why would they when illegals are not held responsible under any other law, identity theft or otherwise. Police have told me that they do not pursue illegals accept in the most egregious cases as it is a WASTE OF TIME. The IRS is no different, not to mention it does not fit an ideological agenda.

I would say it is 50-50 meaning half steal the identity of american to use when it is needed but they mostly do not cause financial problems other than tax issues for the original owner which IRS usually waives when it is clear that the SSN is used in another state by an illegal.

The Dept of Treasury Inspector General reported that in 2010 illegal aliens with ITIN tax ID numbers collected $4.2 billion in child tax credits.
To my knowledge they still collect it today.

Really. Regardless of party. I’m a Republican in a highly Republican district. I always vote Democrat against the local, highly corrupt officialdom. My Congressman is Bill Posey (R). Bill was a local real estate guy who made a decent living. Now he is a multi-millionaire living in beach front property. That’s from taking money out of Washington, not earning it.

Talked to a Canadian who was an ultra liberal. His feeling was that people should be able to move anywhere they liked. If they don’t like where they are at they should be free to move anywhere. Definitely no borders. I responded that I did not want immigrants flooding his home in Canada and my home in the US because it would destroy our cultures. He just looked at me like I was stupid. Of course he lived on prince Edward isle in Nova Scotia which is almost 100% white. He was so insulated he did not have a clue. Most liberals insulated themselves intellectually. I find libertarians are the most apt to consider other viewpoints.

Yes Jon. open borders is the official Libertarian Party position, but many people who are pretty much libertarian do not agree with that (myself included) and see it as a “nice” idea but cultural suicide. There are two deficits to conservatism action. One is that YES, they ARE working and have no time for such frivolities. My father always said he was too busy working for a living to make any REAL money.
The second issue is that those not working not only have a lot of discretionary time to spend, but they also understand the vulnerabilities of being DEPENDENT, that being so is the bottom of the barrel, end of the line, that after dependency, there IS no other option, and as such they are incentivized to FIGHT to keep what they have, as there IS no other source. They have no job skills, they have NOTHING to sell except their outrage.
Conservatives have always seen work as their salvation, NOT entitlement, and YES they understand fully that these entitlement schemes are slowly sucking them dry, but they still BELIEVE in work, they still BELIEVE that they can overcome the barriers, the regulations, taxes and disparagement to still succeed. They see their future best preserved in work, not protest.

I can go along with send home illegals. If they really want to be here, do it the legal way and assimilate, as was the intentions with the way the process was designed. My only concern is that when we do try to send them all back, what do we do when Mexico lines the border up and down with military and denies them reentry? If there are as many (illegals) as has been suggested, does anyone believe Mexico will just open their gates? What about the South American countries that sent their undesirables northward?

Mish, sanctuary cities, like legal marijuana, violate federal law. We should either enforce federal law (which I favor) or change the law. One or the other.
