Bending to the will of Democrats and mainstream media, Deputy Attorney General, Rod Rosenstein, cited ‘public interest’ in investigating Trump’s ties to Russia. As a matter of public interest,, Rosenstein named former FBI director Robert Mueller as Special Counsel for Russia Probe.
Former FBI Director Robert Mueller III was appointed Wednesday as special counsel to oversee the federal investigation into Russia’s alleged interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, giving him wide latitude to explore potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said in a statement he was naming a special counsel due to the inquiry’s “unique circumstances.” The public interest, he said, “requires me to place this investigation under the authority of a person who exercises a degree of independence from the normal chain of command.”
Mr. Rosenstein had the authority to appoint the special counsel because Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from any aspects of investigations involving the 2016 election following reports he hadn’t disclosed meetings with the Russian ambassador last year. Mr. Rosenstein has been overseeing the investigation ever since.
The initial reaction from Capitol Hill to Mr. Mueller’s appointment was largely positive. Some Republicans viewed the appointment with something akin to relief.
Rep. Ryan Costello (R., Pa.) said the appointment removes pressure from Congress since lawmakers have been asked daily for their thoughts on how the investigation should be handled. “It takes it off the table for the time being,” Mr. Costello said.
Mr. Costello also spoke highly of Mr. Mueller. “I think that his record from, what I understand, is unimpeachable in terms of his integrity and experience,” he said.
Democrats agreed. “Former Director Mueller is exactly the right kind of individual for this job,” said Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York, the chamber’s Democratic leader. “I now have significantly greater confidence that the investigation will follow the facts wherever they lead.”
But not everyone was on board. “I don’t see the need for one,” said Rep. Peter King, a New York Republican. “To me, it’s a bad precedent to set, if any time there’s an investigation of an administration, you have to have a special counsel. These guys go on forever.”
What’s the Real Mission?
- Republicans and Trump want to pacify the media and get this nonsense behind them.
- Democrats want this to drag on forever.
Peter King is correct in his assessment “These guys go on forever.”
As a byproduct of point number two, numerous witch hunts will take place as Democrats will want to investigate every lead, no matter how ridiculous.
The budget is open-ended and there are no time limits. The witch hunt could conceivably last for the duration of Trump’s presidency.
Much of Trump’s agenda will be on indefinite hold as the progress, or lack thereof, as the story unfolds.
The appointment of a special counsel does not change impeachment odds. For discussion, please see Impeachment Odds Approximately Zero
Mike “Mish” Shedlock
There is little if any “public interest” in this, only MSM and demonrat (sic) interest. This is about the dirty politics of the last 50 years, not about what is good for the US.
In the meanwhile the debt clock ticks closer to 20 trillion in government bonds on issue, growing by around a trillion a year.
this is the cost of libtard socialism. japan has clicked over a quadrillion yen (9 trillion US dollars) and 250% of gdp. interest rates of 4% in japan will take a third of all taxes (japan takes 33% of gdp in taxes).
this is where the libtard socialists in the swamp are taking the US – a hole that cannot be climbed out of – rather than the analogy of “stop digging” when you are in a hole.
the stench of the swamp is sickening and is destroying americas future
Progressives have shown they are willing to burn it all down to win, and I’m sure it’s not just ideology but their intense desire to see their swamp survive. While I did not vote for Trump to burn it down (I know some did), I would prefer to see him do it if it would actually clear the swamp, given I believe the progressives are will willing to do the same to save it.
I’m sure there is more than enough dirt out there on these criminals to light a bright fire under DC and beyond. Given the breadth of corruption this will require some to sacrifice themselves to do it, but as that is how they hold this corrupt cabal together, sacrifices will have to be made. This MUST stop. Another ten years of this corruption and there will be no escape as all avenues for change will be closed short of armed resistance….an event that marks the end of America.
” short of armed resistance….an event that marks the end of America.”
or the rebirth of America? The Smartest Man Ever said:
“When the representative body have lost the confidence of their constituents, when they have notoriously made sale of their most valuable rights, when they have assumed to themselves powers which the people never put into their hands, then indeed their continuing in office becomes dangerous to the state, and calls for an exercise of the power of dissolution.”
“what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.”
“The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield, and government to gain ground.”
Thomas Jefferson
“Progressives have shown they are willing to burn it all down to win”
That is not progressive, that is radical leftist.
“Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York, the chamber’s Democratic leader. “I now have significantly greater confidence that the investigation will follow the facts wherever they lead.”
Yeah well that will change 180 degrees very quickly if the investigation should lead to some actually certifiable, indictable crimes by the Clintons and DNC, listed here for all to see, and the MSM to ignore:
http://www.mostdamagingwikileaks.com/new-leaks
They can’t see out of that eye.
We knew this was going to happen. The republicans will force Trump to capitulate to the progressives (as they have always done) in order to supposedly advance the agenda that NONE of them truly believes in. Trump is in the swamp up to his ass with his feet firmly planted in quicksand. The more he squirms the deeper he goes and the republican establishment just throws him enough rope to grasp for it only to come up short. The establishment doesn’t give a damn about policy or agenda beyond the preserve of their swamp, and Trump will be wallowing in this shit till the day he leaves.
I say he nukes the entire site from orbit….it’s the only way to be sure.
Yeah, this becoming a cage match. Some of them (Dems, media) must pay a price or it’s all over for freedom.
“Democrats want this to drag on forever.”
———–
Just like when the Pubs dragged out Benghazi and Hillary’s minor email faux pas. Ha! What goes around comes around.
i wonder why Hillary had to have her emails and state secrets printed on weiner’s laptop, when she knew Weiner was a convicted sexual felon?
“minor email faux pas.”
There was nothing minor about it. You would be sitting in prison if you did what she was alleged to have done. In fact, Comey even said as much, in his July 2019 press conference.
Say yet another armchair lawyer. You should get a job on the Faux News channel!
– Trump does have ties to Russia and some shady russian folks. Trump didn’t pay his debts to US banks one time too often. US banks don’t want to lend Trump and that’s why Trump and his family is/was forced to borrow money from those shady russian folks/banks and chinese banks. And I DO think that is a serious “security risk” for the current administration.
– Well, when Obama was president the Republicans held hearings on what went wrong in Benghazi under Mrs. Clinton’s watch in september of 2012. Remember ? And now the Democrats are out to get Trump.
– It’s a matter of the pot calling the kettle black …………..
– And did one Mish comment on the what the Republicans did with the Benghazi hearings ?
You’re equating the terror attack at Benghazi to the head by for a Russian bogeyman in last fall’s US election? That’s quite a reach.
The closer analogy might be The Clinton Foundation’s payola operation with foreign governments, but that whole thing must be carefully side stepped altogether. This, we hear about shady Russian banks and how Trump must be financially beholden to them. Not a dime’s worth of evidence to any of it.
– Let me clarify. I am only saying that the “Benghazi hearings” were meant to “damage” Hillary Clinton. And now Trump is president the Democrats are using the same/similar tactics in an attempt to damage and perhaps destroy Trump. It’s partially meant as a “retaliation” for the Benghazi hearings. Although other motives are playing a role as well.
– But the longer this fight continues the deeper the political divide in Washington will become and the more Washington will alienate the average US citizen. Not a development I’d like to see.
I’ve always been a patriot. I had real pride in my country. It used to be the best of the best, bar none. We were the freest of the free with the greatest amount of opportunity of any other people on the globe.
In the last 20 years America got sick. Noticeably so. The principles upon which our beloved nation was founded have been willfully ignored and shat upon. Globalism moved in and took over. It suffocated the American spirit. The mainstream media has replicated the Soviet’s Pravda of the 1960’s. Our civil rights have been eroded down to only a shadow of what they used to be.
The Trump persecution is only another symptom of Lady America’s illness. Like him or not, Trump represented a refreshing alternative to the typical corrupted swamp style of politics that has been forced on us in the last couple of decades. However, Trump is only one man and now the swamp waters are now threatening to drown him.
Look at just a few of the scandals under the Obama administration:
(1) Benghazi (2) IRS political witch hunts (3) NSA illegal domestic spying (4) Solyndra
(5) Eric Holder contempt of court and perjury (6) Jame Clapper perjury (7) Fast & Furious
(8) Spying on AP journalists (9) Iran ransom payment (10) Trading terrorists for Bowe Bergdahl (11) Hillary’s private server and classified emails.
Had Trump had his finger in any of those pies chances are he would have been subject to a Special Prosecutor investigation, charged and impeached from office.
The swamp establishment (GOP’s and Dem’s) have cut their dogs loose on Trump and in only 4 months have concocted one hyperbolic allegation after another to weaken his presidency with the ultimate goal of bringing him down.
Had Obama been involved in any of the concocted allegations that Trump is accused of – they would’ve never seen the light of day.
Lady America is down on one knee and short of breath.
Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.
How?
You forgot the Clinton’s Uranium One deal, LF. Easy to forget since the MSM has completely ignored that ultimate corruption. The facts are ignored, and the MSM makes up another BS story every week. Willy2 just above this post even came up with a new fantasy.
Absolutely, CJ.
The integrity of the nation has been hijacked by a bunch of bully thugs who hate the notion of reform or cleaning up all the corruption in big government. So they will stop at nothing to bring Trump down.
Trump can’t even trust his insiders. That’s how corrupt the system is. If Trump farts in the oval office some inside traitor reports to the Washington Post whether it sounded like a c-sharp or a b-flat.
This nation is really sick.
My take on today is a little different. The paucity of leaks of verifiable evidence in the Russian conspiracy pretty much indicates there is nothing to the story and, thus, nothing to be found in an investigation. Every single news story but one is based on nothing but rumors of things anonymous sources have told the left-wing media outlets or that the journalists claim that the sources said. The only piece of evidence that isn’t anonymous was the claim by the DNC and the experts it hired that the DNC servers were hacked by Russians and that those hacks allowed Wikileaks to publish their e-mails, but that evidence is tainted by the refusal of the DNC to allow the FBI to actually look at the servers, so I think that piece of evidence is also fraudulent.
I think what has happened is that the FBI investigated at the behest of the Obama Administration, but in the 10 months it has had to do that investigation, it found literally zippo. However, Rosenstein probably realizes that if they close the investigation, the Democrats will all go even more batshit crazy. I think Mueller will actually do very little investigating, but will simply review the investigation done to this point and then write the report. I think Rosenstein is a bit naive to think this will placate the Democrats, but I understand the motivation.
Remember this, the entire Russian conspiracy theory started as a joke Trump told about the Russians having Hillary’s deleted e-mails. The Clinton campaign seized on that joke to create the narrative that the DNC and Podesta’s e-mails were hacked by the Russian government to help Trump. The loss of the election gave them and the outgoing Obama Administration nothing left to lose (or so they think).
I predict Mueller wraps this up before the Summer is done. If there really were any actual conspiracy, you would have seen all the hard evidence printed in WaPo or the NYTimes already- there is no way solid evidence would not have been leaked by multiple sources by this point. If it hasn’t leaked, there isn’t any to leak.
” I think Mueller will actually do very little investigating, but will simply review the investigation done to this point and then write the report. I think Rosenstein is a bit naive to think this will placate the Democrats, but I understand the motivation.”
=====
We will have to probably wait until the Dems reclaim Congress in 2018 to get real justice.
Fat chance.
There is simply nothing to find in this investigation- the only candidate in the 2016 election with demonstrated ties to Russia was Clinton herself through the Uranium One deal, and even I don’t think that really rises to the level of a winnable prosecution.
I am curious- what piece of evidence have you seen reported that convinces you that the Trump campaign conspired with the Russians- the single most important evidence you have seen?
it’s a witch hunt on Trump, Yancey.
They keep throwing handfuls of crap at the wall hoping something sticks. But nothing does.
Obama got a total pass from the media and the FBI and Congress and the establishment in general.
Trump threatens the corrupted establishment that they has provoked the swamp dwellers to come down on him like the wrath of God.
And I will again point out this- the FBI has been on this case already for 10 months, less than half of which occurred with Trump in the White House, and not a single piece of concrete evidence of malfeasance has been leaked about that investigation. Every single news report is of the form “anonymous sources say an investigation is underway”- they sometimes mention Paul Manafort or Michael Flynn, but not a single one has shown any evidence of how even those two managed a conspiracy with Russia- not a single one.
I’m so glad you armchair lawyers are on the case! You did a good job weighing the evidence against Clinton also [roflol].
It wasn’t the evidence that let Clinton off the hook. The evidence was airtight.
It was complicity.
“I’m so glad you armchair lawyers are on the case! You did a good job weighing the evidence against Clinton also [roflol].”
Comey outright lied when he said that no reasonable prosecutor would take the case. Comey said that if anyone else does something similar to what Hillary did, they should not expect not to be punished for it.
Hillary was placed above the law, where evidence has no weight.
There was however, poetic justice, as Hillary lost an election she thought she was entitled to win, after cheating democratic party primary voters and colluding with the mainstream media against Trump.
I noticed you didn’t answer my question, Joe. What piece of reported evidence convinced you that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians? You have a second chance to answer.
You guys seem to have missed the recent interview with former NSA head James Clapper when he specifically said: “No evidence has been found of Russian ties to the Trump campaign”. Doesn’t the MSM show that? I wonder why not? Maybe it doesn’t go very well with the dems Russian conspiracy theory fantasies.
“the entire Russian conspiracy theory started as a JOKE Trump told about the Russians HAVING Hillary’s deleted e-mails.” —Yancy
Perhaps Trump thought it was a joke, but what he really said was
“Russia, if you are listening, I hope you can FIND Hillary’s missing emails”.
It was an invitation to the Russians to hack away at the request of a Presidential candidate.
Funny that some wonder why investigations are underway.
Mish is absolutely right on this investigation. Again with the help of the news media the democrats will drag this whole thing out for the rest of Trumps term in office, count on it! Meanwhile the country’s problems will get much worse. For the news media, the excitement of this whole event, the drama, the joy, the absolute insatiable pleasure of this investigation will empower these people beyond belief in my opinion.
So much for “draining the swamp”! The process will add many tens of millions of gallons of water ($) to the swamp in D.C.
Gee, I didn’t know all the Trump huggers hung out here. You too, Mish??
I don’t agree. Public would not have bought into the results of any conclusion otherwise. Trump took too many questionable actions that harmed the public trust. Even if they are legitimate actions the way in vast number of them and they way they were communicated produced way too much cloud over the process.
These relentless un/cofounded attacks by the deep state show how severely corrupt they are – and how in control of the media. As a non-American this is extremely worrying. The depth and extent of the the power of the deep state and its corruption does not bode well for us (we of the the rest of the world trying to exists outside the oppression of the USA police-state machine). It is extremely disturbing to the rest of the world how out-of-control the CIA/NSA/FBI… add extensive list is, and the Orwellian terror they have in mind for the “free” world.
It is all silliness and stupidity, at least a Kabuki show a discernible plot. Special investigations follow the will of the investigator. Some of you may recall the course of Kenneth Star. But putting this investigation takes it out of the hands of both the senate and the house since they cannot impede Muller’s investigation. And at best I would believe a few small fish may be prosecuted. If Muller finishes before the 2018 elections we may see many of the howling democrats voted out of office. If one spends a lot of political backing a dead horse one can expect greater than expected losses. And finally, the mainstream media will loose far more than they can sustain. In France and the UK they laugh at us, they think Americans are batshit crazy. They do not see that it is their own socialism and progressiveness that is on trial in the world. Billionaire media would appear to be on its last legs. We can only hope.
Heaven forbid that the investigations by one man cast a wide net, across congress and all countries backing either candidate in presidential, state and city elections over the last ten years, then draws the net in to identify ALL ties with foreign governments – this to include Germany, Japan, Qatar, Iran, China, the UK and Saudi Arabia as well as Russia, since these countries definitely had relationships with the members of congress and therefore could have influenced elections for either side AND HENCE HAVE INFLUENCE ON CONGRESS NOW – meaning these investigations are at the behest of foreign governments not american citizens.
hey, maybe the swamp will reveal its true colors by asking for an increase in the debt ceiling to 25 trillion dollars to cover deficits from the “stasis” caused by politicians and the draining of US resources to foreign state interests.
I wished these A**hole politicians would get over themselves already. I am not the only person who thinks they all need a swat on the butt and a time out for such childish and sulky behavior. Sure wouldn’t put up with it out of a kid, and that these are grown adults actingthis way gives me no end of grief for our splintered politics.
Wake up senators and State Reps: Time to move on. Graciously.
(Though that maybe asking too much from them at this point.)
All of this is just making people who voted for Trump mad. Watch for a big pro trump turn out at midterms blowing the democrats out the water.
While they are casting a wide net please include Clinton emails and Obama unauthorized unmaking.
Washington politics – brief periods of no gridlock to pass legislation to wreck the country followed by total gridlock blocking any clean up the mess they have created.
I love all the so-called patriots commenting on here, and insinuating armed resistance is necessary. You guys aren’t patriots, just a bunch of cranky old farts who weren’t smart enough to see Trump was a conman. Now you try and justify your mistake by claiming Trump is some kind of defender of freedom. What a joke.
Amen. Sound and fury signifying a humiliating lack of self awareness.
Should be thankful, you don’t hear a bullet before it hits you.
You threatening to shoot people, old man? Upset America is not like it used to be, “back in your day”? Your day ended a long time ago.
Another example of a snowflake reading something into a comment that wasn’t even implied let alone stated.
This is one of the primary problem with Trump haters. Making stuff up then pronouncing it as fact. ha.
His reply to me is so disconected from reality and hysterical that I would be concerned sharing the street over there. What to do.
Please enlighten me, what was implied by your statement? It would probably be easier to understand your comments if you could write, btw.
No one is insinuating or implying anything beyond that which is written. For that you should be thankful.
Unfortunately, or not, there don’t seem to be courses in ‘American’, just English.
Like I’ve said before, when the choice is between a clown and the devil, you choose the clown. Both Clintons need to just fade away from the public eye.

Hope he investigates BOTH sides of the oligarchy’s uniparty (with the exception of a few almost true paleoconservative Republicans in the Freedom Caucus):
Democrats’ double standard on ‘ties’ to Russia
‘Progressives’ condemn Republicans for Russian links while ignoring their own
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/mar/28/russia-scandal-also-may-touch-democrats/
Excerpt:
It is just as clear that John Podesta and his adult children are not the only members of this influential Democratic family to have profited from their Moscow connections. John’s brother Tony runs the Podesta Group, which is what the media like to describe as a “high-powered and well-connected Washington lobbying firm.” The Podesta Group during the 2016 campaign received $170,000 from Russia’s largest bank to lobby against the sanctions imposed on Russia by the Obama administration and Congress; the very sanctions Mr. Trump’s first national security adviser was fired for “mentioning” to Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak before he entered the government.
Is Tony a politician? I thought he was just a scumbag lobbyist. Remember when Trump said he was going to get rid of those? Another con. Why would he? Lobbyists are rich, and Trump loves rich people. How he ever got commoners to believe that he cared about them is beyond me.
John Podesta has direct linkage to funds received from Russia. But you would have to read the WT article to know that, and you wouldn’t want to do that, redstate, you might have a meltdown. Avoiding facts is the reason many things are beyond you.
Impeachment odds are only “0” up to November 2018. After that the odds go up.
Up from zero to zero. Zero + zero = zero. Zero – zero = zero.
http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/333589-poll-42-percent-of-voters-support-impeaching-trump

Like Mish said…..”Impeachment Odds Approximately Zero”
Snap out of your fantasy world. Join reality.
And we all know that The Hill is apolitical, right? Like they would never conduct a biased poll, right? And the same for WND. Hell, you might as well be reading MSNBC and CNN.
“As a matter of public interest…”
The government should stop the anti Russian hysteria propaganda campaign, which taken to its extreme, could result in nuclear war. A nuclear war will not be confined to some country like Syria or Iraq, but will be visited upon the American people as well.
Um, Ron, it’s not the government doing the anti Russian hysteria campaign. It’s the MSM that was all in for Hillary doing that. Now that MSM is trying to make Trump look bad for trying to have peaceful relations with Russia. Anyway you are right in that they need to quit that, it is not in America’s interest; quite the opposite – more like traitorous. It’s almost like if an American Secretary of State sold 20% of America’s uranium to Russia, and personally profited from it.
If the Democrats keep this up, it just might make Trump turn into a real Republican.
I am very sorry to hear that a special prosecutor has been appointed — that means that the whole thing will disappear from the headlines, since all this stuff will be done in camera. For the Democrats its the worse outcome — for the GOP the best outcome, for Trump — a nothing burger, but for his associates — it could be real trouble, but he doesn’t care. For Mike Pence it also could be real trouble — it seems that he too has been lying.
Trump will not be impeached — at least not in this Congress, and the Democrats have lost the daily headlines (for the Russia stuff at least) — but then again, Trump just can’t stop himself.
“Much of Trump’s agenda will be on indefinite hold as the progress, or lack thereof, as the story unfolds”
As I don’t support all of Trump’s agenda, I don’t think this matters much. Whatever happens to the economy, Trump can blame on Congress.
The agenda that matters to me is the one put in place by Trump’s predecessors – world hegemony through war. Trump wanted to end some of it but has met resistance. He needs to drain the Swamp. Can this part of his agenda continue? That’s the question. He should do a mass firing of all Obama-Bush-Clinton hirees.
End it how exactly? Growing the military budget? Bombing Syria? Sending more troops to Afghanistan? Nonsense.
Well at least everything is doing fine in Greece now days. Oh, wait!

This clip uses “anonymous sources” , but the paper is well established :
L’Obs [ɔps], previously known as France Observateur (1950-64) and Le Nouvel Observateur (1964-2014), is a weekly French news magazine. Based in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris,[1] it is the most prominent French general information magazine in terms of audience and circulation. Wiki.
So this is not likely baseless :
” L’Obs cited three anonymous sources with knowledge of the emergency plan that would have been put into effect had Le Pen reached the Elysée palace, saying it was devised by a small group of ministers, chiefs of staff and top civil servants.
The magazine said the plan was aimed mainly at preventing serious civil unrest and “freezing” the political situation by convening parliament in emergency session and maintaining the outgoing prime minister in office. “
Zerohedge, LOL. The last bastion of open racists, xenophobes, and anti-semites.
Maybe you could find a supporting article on 4chan
So Phil, how do you know that? From reading the daily Kos or Huffpo? Now that would be funny?
How do I know? By reading the comments there. It’s an absolute cesspool of hate speech and ignorance. The articles themselves are mostly stupid too, the normal “hoard gold and guns” bullshit doomer investment strategy. Trying to compare it to actual journalism makes it pretty clear who’s dealing in “fake news.”
Give us an example of such an article for reference Phil. That should be easy enough right?
Hummm, no response?
Are you a typical Lib blogger with no real values or understanding of what you preach from a bully pulpit??
I have my Gold and Guns, what ya got?
Unfortunately, you are fitting a profile of a pay for play blogger. I hope you have more together for the real world combat than you are trained to espouse. Good Day!
If Trump wanted to make it go away, tweeting this is the single biggest witch hunt is not the way to do it. He should be pledging his and his administrations support and applauding the choice of Mueller commenting on his experience and integrity, etc. For a man who ran for President on his business experience he’s certainly not responding to this crisis in the way an experienced leader of a Fortune 500 company would
Trump can’t control himself. It’s obvious and indefensible, and the people who still defend him are just making themselves look foolish and partisan.
Trump’s comment about the “greatest witch hunt in American history” happens to be true, although he probably did not help himself by pointing that out. His official response is:
“A thorough investigation will confirm what we already know — there was no collusion between my campaign and any foreign entity,” he declared. “I look forward to this matter concluding quickly.” He should have left it at that and moved on.
If you do not stand up for the truth, then the Lies and Propaganda win. The Mainstream Media (MSM), which is the propaganda arm of the Democratic Party, is going to publish a steady stream of leaks and falsehoods from anonymous Deep State Democratic party political operatives. If Trump stays silent, then the MSM and Democrats win. The argument will be that Trump has gone silent because he is guilty and has no defense for his crimes.
There are two wars going on here, the legal one in the FBI and the propaganda one in the media. The Deep State and MSM are both blatantly anti-Trump, as is the GOP establishment and the Democrats. In that sense, nothing has changed. It has always been this way, with about 43% of public voting Trump. Trump has to step up his own defense, as otherwise his silence will be judged an admission of guilt and Schumer and the Deep State win. Trump’s electoral majority will stay intact if he defends himself vigorously and refutes the lies emanating from the foul lying mouths arrayed against him. Trump has to be Trump, or otherwise he is a loser.
Mish
You’re right on!
The special counsel’s office will run all through Trump’s term. Like every bureaucracy in DC it will grow in spend, budget and scope.
Nothing will come out of it except periodic leaks to keep the MSM ratings up with each manufactured outrage.
Welcome to the clown car circus and banana republic!
As Trump has said, this nation is close to being lost for the next 100 years. This is a major victory for the Deep State and the Democrats. NSA director James Clapper defines “checks and balances” as “The Deep State versus the Executive Branch”. Clapper says the government (nonelected ruling bureaucrats) is threatened internally by elected officials (Trump) and external enemies like Putin. The idea here is to invalidate the election, and Mueller is now obviously a Deep State political whore. Schumer’s sidelining of Sessions was a success, and the logical consequences would be to declare the 2016 election invalid and award the office to Hillary, the aggrieved party.
Impeachment is a real possibility, because the GOP War Party and Dems could make a deal. GOP establishment has been battling to stop Trump since the primaries, and would love to finally get Trump. Precedence for selling out your own party’s president: Tilden vs Hayes in 1880s, when Democrats sold out their candidate in exchange for removing Union troops from South (allowing black voter disenfranchisement). 1824 House of Reps deal to deny Andrew Jackson the presidency. Senate is about the Art of the Deal, as Robert Caro documented in LBJ bio volume 3, Master of the Senate. Odds way above zero of a Dem-GOP War Party deal, if you posit that GOP establishment is not loyal to Trump.
This will go on seemingly forever, like Whitewater where a simple $100,000 real estate deal took several years to investigate, cost taxpayers over $200 million, and ended up examining if the president masturbated or was pleasured sexually in the White House. If you read the fine print, Mueller gets to add whatever new topics Schumer suggests. Ivanka, Jared, Conway, McMasters, Trump hotels doing business with USA government. Democratic presidential campaign is on steroids post-election. A lot of Obama Foundation interns will get jobs working for Mueller. A make-work training program for Deep State political operatives. To think otherwise is to ignore history. GOP cannot stand winning, and seems to prefer extinction, which is where this leads. If GOP sells Trump down the river, then majority of GOP voters will know they will also be sold down the river and stay home and allow the Democrats to takeover and complete their work on the National Socialist totalitarian welfare-warfare state. Then Neo-Bolsheviks will purge their GOP allies, ala French Revolution and Lenin/Stalin.
