A London Bridge terror attack Saturday evening left 7 dead and close to 50 wounded as three armed men drove a van on sidewalks then stabbed a number of people with knives. Police shot the attackers dead but as many as 12 other suspects are still at large.
This was the third terrorist attack since Theresa May became prime minister. It was the second during the campaign for the June 8 U.K. general election. Impact on the election is unclear.
Theresa May now veers to zero tolerance in an “Enough is Enough’” speech.
Image from Bloomberg article May Ramps Up Terror Rhetoric as Pre-Election Attack Kills Seven.
Wales Online reports on Eight Key Messages in Theresa May’s ‘Enough is Enough’ Terrorism Speech.
- ‘Things need to change’.
- Britain has been too tolerant of extremism in the UK.
- We are witnessing copycat terrorism.
- We need to see action from big internet companies.
- Britain’s counter-terrorism strategy will be reviewed and prison sentences may increase.
- Military intervention alone won’t deal with Islamic extremism.
- Five plots have been stopped since March.
- The general election will go ahead on Thursday.
In regards to point 1, May stated, “We cannot and must not pretend that things can continue as they are.”
In regards to Point 2, May stated, “there is – to be frank – far too much tolerance of extremism in our country. That will require some difficult, and often embarrassing, conversations.”
In regards to point 3, May stated, “Terrorism breeds terrorism and perpetrators copy another and often using the crudest of means of attack”
In Regards to point 4, May stated, “[We] cannot allow this ideology the safe space it needs to breed. Yet that is precisely what the internet, and the big companies that provide internet-based services provide.”

Terror Dominates Election
Four days from now, the UK holds national elections. Bloomberg comments May’s Journey to Zero Tolerance as Terror Dominates Election.
March 22 Parliament Attack
A lone attacker drove his car across Westminster Bridge, mounting the sidewalk and mowing down pedestrians before running into the precincts of parliament and stabbing a police officer. He was shot dead. Five people died.
May’s message: “Tomorrow morning, Parliament will meet as normal. We will come together as normal,” she said. “Londoners — and others from around the world who have come here to visit this great City — will get up and go about their day as normal. They will board their trains, they will leave their hotels, they will walk these streets, they will live their lives.”
What Corbyn said: “I know that Londoners and people across the country will stand together in defense of our values and diversity.”
May 22 Manchester Bombing
The British-born son of Libyan refugees detonated a bomb in Manchester at 10:30 p.m. as teenagers, parents and their young children left a pop concert. Twenty-two people died. May stayed up most of the night coordinating the response to the attack and appeared outside her residence the following morning and later in the evening to announce the threat level would be raised to “critical,” the highest level.
May’s message: “We will take every measure available to us and provide every additional resource we can to the police and the security services as they work to protect the public. And while we mourn the victims of last night’s appalling attack, we stand defiant. The spirit of Manchester and the spirit of Britain is far mightier than the sick plots of depraved terrorists, that is why the terrorists will never win and we will prevail.”’
What Corbyn said: “This is an appalling act of violence against people, and it must be totally and unreservedly and completely condemned. We must support those people who have suffered so much. In these circumstances we have to come together.”
Campaigning was then suspended for three days and, when it restarted, Corbyn wore a black tie as he delivered a speech on U.K. foreign policy in central London. “The ‘war on terror’ is simply not working,” he said as he made the case for an overhaul of foreign policy and criticized May’s government for squeezing police budgets.
“Many experts, including professionals in our intelligence and security services, have pointed to the connections between wars our government has supported or fought in other countries, such as Libya, and terrorism here at home,” Corbyn, a long-time critic of U.K. foreign interventions, said.
At a meeting of Group of Seven leaders in Sicily, May was swift and brutal in her response as polls showed her lead slipping. “I have been here today at the G-7 working with other international leaders to fight terrorism. At the same time Jeremy Corbyn has said that terror attacks in Britain are our own fault,” May said, breaking with the show of cross-party unity after the attack.
Election Home Stretch
On June 2, in a question and answer sessions with voters on BBC TV, Corbyn was repeatedly asked about his failure to condemn bombings by the Irish Republican Army, a terrorist group that carried out a series of attacks in Britain. He was not asked about Islamist extremism.
The following day, at around 10 p.m., a white van drove into pedestrians in central London. Three men with fake suicide vests began to knife people on a Saturday night out. Seven were killed before the three attackers were shot dead by police, eight minutes after they were called.
May’s rhetoric has certainly changed. Will terrorism impact the election? Which way?
Mike “Mish” Shedlock
As an English person I do not know how the acts of terrorism will affect the election but I am not in favour of Corbyn on anything.
This situation should be tackled by forcing the Muslims resident in the UK to deal with the problem so the suspects can be deported. I am not in favour of imprisonment or internment as that has proved to make matters worse.
I would also advocate burying all terrorists in a pigskin.
@G. Scott, Just a matter of curiosity, how do you propose to bury the politicians who signed contract to sale armement to Saoudi Arabia, to Qatar, to Barhein to bomb thousound of innocent civilians, slaughtering throats of children, women, old people.
Corbyn, Abbott, Kahn, Burnham – disgraceful.
Corbyn wants to band shoot to kill – the ass hole.
Liberal backlash has partly started against anyone highlighting the commonality in these attacks – muslims, islam etc.
Dare say Muslims have a problem in their religion and the crowd jumps on your back.
Kahn daren’t say islam or mulim in same sentence as terrorist else he’ll have the brotherhood onto him. He even said to get used to it.

Fish, here’s an interesting tid bit. Published on Jun 4, 2017
CNN was caught staging news in a video captured by citizen journalist, who posted the footage to his Twitter account @markantro. Becky Anderson of CNN is seen in London handing props to a “peace group.
“The alleged suicide bomber, Salman Abedi (image on the right), was part of an extremist group, the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, that thrived in Manchester and was cultivated and used by MI5 for more than 20 years.”

As long as there are Muslims in the UK, there will be terrorist attacks.
You are completely correct. As the Moslem population in Britain grows in size terrorism will become more common and bloodier.
Enough political correctness. If they are a person of interest for whatever reason, arrest them. Employ extreme profiling. If Muslims are terrorists then all Muslims should expect searches whenever. Individual rights must make way for the greater community. Remove all Muslim non residents and allow no more into the country. This can be fixed but no one yet has the backbone to do it. Will require a dictator which all of these liberal western countries are setting the stage for.
Perhaps Moslems will eventually be expelled from Britain. By the time that happens there will have ben enormous bloodshed.
I’m an expat, six years in London. It would require hundreds of jihadist attacks, daily attacks, and tens-or-even hundreds-of-thousands of victims to move even the so called “Conservatives” to take meaningful steps against the Islamic jihadists. Labour and the Liberal Democrats? Never. The Jihadists could set off a nuclear device at Oxford Circus and they (Corbyn, Farron) would go on the BBC and talk about how “this has nothing to do with Islam” and that Islam is a “religion of peace”.
Let us start with a very easy statement. You can not have two sets of laws for two groups of people in a country. Accordingly UK law covers the UK. I would have the general rule, one mention of Sharia Law and you are deported with in 48 hours. I do not care if you are a UK citizen or not. Mentioning Sharia Law indicates you do not want to be part of the UK way. There is no place for you there (same rule applies to the US). Also, leave the UK for any of the conflict zones and no return. Stay there.
The big problem in the ME is not the west being there. It is the breeding of Muslims like rats. Imans are on record that they hope to over run the west by breeding. I would keep them bottled up with no forms of hand outs and let the rats consume themselves.
“Forcing” anyone to do, or not do, anything; is never a solution to any “problem.” At least aside from the core progressive problem of people having too much freedom.
7/3 dead, (or 57/15 if you count wounded and other suspects that will from now on be highly limited in their ability to cause harm), is not even a blip. Angry Young Men is a more apt description than anything that smacks of anything more existentially threatening.
Heck, wasting so many “soldiers” for so little gain, against a population of forcefully disarmed sheep, is so pathetic, it strongly indicates the muzzie immigrants are very much integrating and adopting the progressive-state sanctioned religion of their new home country: Incompetence.
It is never going to stop.
Islam is “religion” based on cruelty to the unbeliever. Unbelievers can be other Muslims from other sects of Islam or non-Muslims. Muhammad was a child rapist, slave trader, slave master, sex slave trafficker, kidnapper, genocidal mass murderer, blissful torturer, thief and liar. This and more is well documented in the Koran and Hadith.
The Muslims joining ISIS are just Muslims wanting to be “Good Muslims.” They want to follow the way of their prophet. In the exact way Muhammad lived and ruled. No amount of sugar coating or mumbling about “moderate” Muslims will change that. “Radicalized” Muslims are simply Muslims who want to be “Good Muslims” in their host country according to the very same Koran and Hadith.
@2banana, i would like to bring some precisions, if i may.
From the Coran, thousound of books have been writen to describe the muslim religion with different countries and different religion i.e. sunnite, shiite, alawite….etc.. each book take a part of the Coran and develop their own religion which create this mess and wars between muslim countries.
The Coran pure is a religion of peace.
The story of Mahomet has two stages , one violent when he was fighting and the second part very peacefull, therefore depends on which side people want to place themselves.
Yep
illiterate Muslims are peaceful. They learn to read the Koran and it commands them to kill.
@Galbraith, Please inform yourself, the muslims were using mathematics when we were in middle ages.
My take on this act is that Pavlov’s dogs are salivating again.
“Terrorism is the war of the poor, and war is the terrorism of the rich.”
― Peter Ustinov
Just because someone is famous, it doesn’t mean that his clever remarks hold true: Osama Bin Laden was not poor & the rich have made a lot of money out of war – have you not heard of the Cheney & Halliburton connection.
Lets say that is true (it isnt if you have researched the topic beyond alt rigbt pages, but thats another discussion, and that therefore it would be best if muslims largely no longer live in the west if they are unwilling to change their beliefs. If this is the case, shouldnt the West stop invading and occupying their lands, or would you suggest muslims should just accept their fate because they are weaker, similar to how natives around the world were ultimately defeated by the invading white man? You might mention the non-sense that muslim ideology will make them invade the west, but muslim nations are pretty weak and do not pose any threat to Western nations. This is evident by how in modern times it has been Western nations that have waged wars on Muslim nations, not the other way around, and the west continues to play its games in the Middle east and support its bastard child Israel. So, if you think the issue is with islam itself, why not just leave muslims unmolseted in their lands ?
Following your reasoning to its logical conclusion countries such as the US and UK, which never had much Islam should get rid of it now, sending their Muslim citizens to Muslim countries. And to be consistent shouldn’t Islam stop invading Christian Lands ? After all Constantinople was a Christian city, so Muslims should had it back.
@Andrew, where do you draw the line? Israel should return their land to Palestine!
So why are they murdering Christians in Egypt?
Why trouble in Sweden, Sweden not interfering in the ME?
If you propose a reason/cause shouldn’t it stand up to even basic scrutiny?
Governments create ill-assorted populations because of their nature – to grow in size and scope.
Think of when early settlements arose. The ones that conquered and incorporated hostile neighboring tribes and settlements were more inclined to survive. Meaning the rulers and a portion of the people, that is. We are their descendants and still possess the behavior of wanting to force the Hatfields and McCoys together because if we’re not the biggest, most savage bully on the block. our survival may be threatened while never understanding that that behavior is the main threat.
Because the guys “in the next valley” have it too.
So evolution has painted us into a corner. Probably like millions of times before throughout the universe.
A free beer and meal to whomever can solve that problem.
Indeed westerners should leave others in peace, no matter who or where, no matter race or religion. Absolutely. There is the small matter of pre-emptive attack in defense, which is a hard one to figure at times.
As for Muslims, that is not easy at all. You are asking for diverse groups of people, from different countries, to be classified and combined under one ideology/religion. I understand that Islam itself has the view of being above those differences, and so you are asking for that recognition? That would be unjust on the many people who were conquered or assimilated into the religion without much or any choice, just as it is unjust to assume that a western citizen backs the governments that wage constant war.
So where does that leave us?
You and I perhaps share a mutual interest, let us call it peace.
Maybe we should be figuring out how to return people to the environment that is representative of their beliefs, where they are at home.
There are people, whites, Arabs, Muslims, who have a bigger agenda than this simple goal. It is our job to figure out who they are, not kill each other.
“There is the small matter of pre-emptive attack in defense”
A possible explanation. You think they’re going to behave like you want to behave:
“Theory of mind
According to Premack and Woodruff, who originated the term, theory of mind describes the ability to infer that other people experience mental states like our own. They claim that such a capacity may properly be viewed as a theory because mental states are not directly observable, and can be used to make predictions about the behaviours of others (Premack & Woodruff, 1978).
Direction of gaze
From an evolutionary point of view, a plausible origin for theory of mind might be found in direction of gaze. Primates are typified by forward-rotated eyes, often to the extent that the visual axes of the eyes are practically parallel (as in the human case). The benefit of this is excellent stereoscopic vision, which would have served their ancestors well in the arboreal habitat in which primates almost certainly first evolved. However, the cost is a notable reduction in field of vision, particularly when compared with the almost panoramic view enjoyed by most mammals whose visual fields normally only overlap to a limited amount at the front, leaving only a small blind area behind the head. The result is that primates have become more social (and more vocal) so as to gain the advantage of many different pairs of eyes (Allman, 1999).
Primates have also compensated by becoming sensitive to the direction of gaze of others. This is particularly important because, not only can it tell you where the others in the group are looking, it can also give useful clues about what they are seeing, their state of mind, and intentions. (Indeed, an analogy now exists in military technology: radars function essential like eyes, and like them can be directed. Rules of engagement in some recent conflicts have allowed pilots to interpret a lock-on to their aircraft by an enemy radar as hostile, and to react immediately rather than wait for the missile-launch or gun-attack that might be expected to follow.)”

Uncertainty in one causes tension in the other.
Yes. A criminal enterprise masquerading as a religion
The current whack-a-mole counter-terrorism strategy is not working. Something more needs to be done. It is an uphill battle in the US given that Trump can’t even stop the flow of potential/future terrorists. How many lives need to be lost before politicians make difficult decisions? This seems like a modern guerilla warfare and its combatants are making effective use of civil society safeguards to inflict maximum damage. We simply can’t afford to be ‘nice’ in a war but we first have to recognize it as such. Sad!
I think Saddam Hussein was doing a pretty good job of controlling terrorism before Bush went in there and exploded it around the world.
Bush and Blair. Cameron took out Gaddafi, Abedi who was dissident asylum in UK from Gaddafi, took to extremism on his return to ‘freed’ Libya under the wing of local Salafist forces there.
When I saw the news this today, I was a bit shocked I did not believe we would see more attacks on the Brits so soon after Manchester. But there seems to be an acceleration of these attacks and I fully expect another one come the weekend or sooner. The problem is that the UK is being over run by those migrants and refugees who are of the Islamic faith and quite a few of them view Allah as their sovereign, not the Queen (sorry Elton). There are many cities in the UK where the ethnic groups have declared themselves to be little Pakistan or Iraq, and what ever and British law has no force in the community. This have been going on for at least ten year perhaps longer and is the legacy of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. At this point I doubt that those on the left, the progressives, the laborites, the whatever, are willing to recognize that Islam is the problem, that it is not a religion of peace, that they better take action quick. My English friends here in France are quite upset over this latest terrorist attack. The general feeling as they talk to their friends is that the ordinary individual are quite upset and perhaps a little fearful of the future. If there is another attack or two before the election you better believe it will effect the outcome. I don’t live in the UK so I am not close to the popular feeling, I only have the few English friends here as an indicator.
There were tweets encouraging killing of Christians for Ramadan.
Many killed in Egypt last week or 2.
No excuses. It’s a death cult.
You got that right. The shame is that as some who believe in Islam and seek to change from the cult of death to living in the real worth will bear the shame of their brothers and incur their brothers wrath as unbelievers. damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
Death and destruction by Muslims is a Muslim problem that THEY will have solve, for if they do not, they will have an even larger problem if non-Muslims have to do it.
This x 10000
I told my wife yesterday – the problem here is that – as Morrissey said (I can’t believe I wrote that…) – Politicians, entertainers, and the rest of the “elite” can say things like “Keep Calm and Carry On” when an attack happens because the odds of them being victims of any attack are approaching zero. Us “regular people” are the victims 99.999% of the time. So it’s easy for them to issue platitudes and demands for others to not engage in “racism”…
However, there is a point at which the regular people recognize that this is all bullshit and that their government can’t protect them, then two things start happening:
1) They begin to take matters into their own hands with the Muslim community – which sucks for those who truly may be “peaceful”.
2) They begin to take matters into their own hands with their political class – which sucks for those at the bottom of the political ladder who don’t merit the same protections as the elite.
Those in charge need to understand that this is how large-scale rebellious actions start. Once you allow events to push the regular people into the same realm as the “fringe” who are always advocating revolt – all bets are off.
And I don’t know what the solution is, but it isn’t better “policing” and “regulation” of the Internet.
Make the other fellow die for his country or religion and he’s not a problem any more.
It’s an election speach that’s all.
If she was serious she would mention the sale of armement to the golf should stop immediately.
If she was serious she should mention the people dying under her bombs in Yemen, children are dying by thousound not just the bombs now but also with cholera.
If she was serious she should mention that the mosques are full of wahabism’s books.
If she was serious she should have sacked her foreign minister because when Mr Corbyn connected terrorism in Britain with bad foreign policies Mr Fallon surged strait away and a week latter people dying in London that’s the answer to someone who try to hide the sun with a sieve. He is only kidding himself and in the mean time people are dying.
I will not put the video of the young palestinian decapitated with a knife and the people who did that were considered as moderate and armed by the west.
Until this government doesn’t call a cat a cat and follow orders from America, people will die.
Talk is cheap.
The policy of importing immigrants wholesale while lacking any ability to screen out terrorists always seemed like a stupendously dumb idea to me. Why any politician ever thought otherwise is a mystery to me.
I think this boils down to: “Do the Brits believe May when she says that she will stop the terrorist attacks within their country?” If they believe her, then she will probably win.
@Cautiousobserver, Let me tell you what i think, this immigration was planned since a decade ago at least, if you follow world affairs, you may have noticed that the same happen in France, the elite know they are losing the battle to remain the vassals over the “pleb” therefore bring foreigners in and create quietly a division, blaming the foreigners, the foreigners blaming the natives so a civil war start, then the politic comes in with the army to instore a state of emergency like in France and the elite can hold on to power. If the people don’t wake up soon, it will be too late.
You mean intentionally create a security crisis within multiple countries for the purpose of establishing an overarching police state in each? Since in reality a rising tide lifts all boats and a sinking tide lowers all boats I doubt the elite, whoever they may be, would be so foolish. I am not an elite and it is plain as day to me that the Venezuela model does not work well for anyone. Surely the elite must see this too.
I suspect the original reason for lax immigration policy was more benign. Perhaps it was thought to be a way to solve the demographics problem that is ravaging Japan and making an appearance in many western countries. This would not have been an issue if western governments today did not rely so heavily on the demographic equivalent of a Ponzi scheme. Way to go guys. You have really made a mess of things. Do all of us a favor and start cleaning up this mess instead of continuing to make it worse, why don’t you?
Cheap oil is turning out to be very costly.
Sure, we can have ME wars and THAT is driven by oil, but OUR problem is immigration that is driven by PROGRESSIVES. They INSIST that any action to protect ourselves is RACIST. They DEMAND that we embrace multiculturalism, while requiring no integration, no allegiance or even shared values.
Not as expensive as allowing extremists liberals to brainwash college students for $100K per year
If what is commonly called “terrorism” were called by its true name “guerrilla warfare,” then the solution would become obvious.
I agree with your point. I am adopting your suggestion.
muslims in western democracies are fifth columnists, allowing continued immigration aids and abets the enemy.
One solution would be to re-introduce absolute responsibility of kin – a very old custom practiced among their forefathers. A participation in a terrorist attack will place the whole family under the ban which would mean deportation (even for holders of British passport).
That should do it.
the best solution of all. Go Back two generations.
And again we hear a brief muffled cry from some in the herd. Yet still they all cling together, with no more grass to eat, and no more water to drink, as they are relentlessly pushed towards the gate from which, as we know, there is no return.
Thank God the generations which fought, bled, and died for what little liberty and freedom they obtained for themselves, and their heirs, is not here to smell the putrid stench of their gutless progeny.
Oh F*** off
That’s along the lines of my idea. Kin means everyone related. The excuse that the relos are innocent balances the rejoinder that the civilians killed were innocent. Knowing acting out their attacks has consequences for their family etc will give the perpetrators pause for thought. They should know their destroyed bodies can be identified so there would be no escape that way. Muslim nations should adopt it as most victims are muslim.

They don’t even need to actually attack to cause serious harm:
More than 1,500 Juventus fans injured in stampede in Turin
4 June 2017
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06/04/hundreds-juventus-fans-injured-stampede-turin/
More than 1,500 people were injured when panic swept through a crowd of Juventus fans watching the Champions League final in a piazza in the northern Italian city of Turin, authorities said Sunday.
The Turin prefect said in a statement that the crowd “was taken by panic and by the psychosis of a terror attack,” fearing that a loud noise was caused by attackers. The source of the loud noise that triggered the stampede remained unclear, officials said. Italian media has speculated it may have been a firecracker.
You’re right. The irrational fear is worse than the actual attacks. I don’t fear them, more people are murdered in Chicago every week and I’m not afraid to go to Chicago. Don’t give in to irrational fear.
So you are in a mall with a thousand people around you, unarmed, and one person runs round a corner wild eyed straight in to you after some bangers go off near by, and shouts to your face ‘They are shooting people’, already the people next to you are taking off, and you say :
‘ I’m not afraid, of being in Chicago ‘.
I sense a slight disconnect from reality there ?
Running in a stampede does not make you safe.
Running with your hands clasped behind your head like a surrendering criminal — just to avoid being gunned down by adrenaline junkies in police costumes … is a clear sign that the police have become just as crazy as the mental patients who murder and blame God for it.
You are not safe in a police state. You are also not safe in a country where touchy feely college libtards who majored in safe spaces against republicans want to treat criminal mental patients the same as law abiding immigrants.
Immigrants who work within the law and get green cards etc — are not the same as the illegals who storm across borders like an invading army. Immigrants are a lot easier to differentiate than peaceful muslims versus mentally unstable muslims.
The US built places like Ellis Island (in NYC’s harbor) to keep out undesirable immigrants. We turned away 10s of thousands every year — for all sorts of reasons, health and political.
Give us your tired and sick and poor who yearn to be free — not the deadbeats yearning to collect welfare and murder innocent people.
Ellis Island wasn’t illegal, and neither is Trump’s travel ban. Enough with the sissies and their safe spaces.
According to Obama, America is striving to become the country “we” have always hoped it would become. He wasn’t terribly specific about it but I think we can guess, and it has obviously NOTHING to do with historical values. For progressives they are busily rewriting history where ever they simply cannot erase it, to be used to promote the discrediting of our history, of our values, of our self esteem as a nation, so they can replace it with what “they” have always hoped it would become. America, home of the free is being replaced with America, home of the “free shit” entitlement.
Obama is a mindless jackass who hates America because George Soros told him to (oh, Obama’s dad told him to hate America too — apple didn’t fall far from the tree)
Danger is real, fear is a choice.
Maybe diversity isn’t a strength?
Islam is not exactly an example of tolerance of diversity.
+ 1/2 …
We need to stop pretending that all Muslims are alike.
Some Muslims are political moderates (they aren’t trying to kill people) — so we have over-excited cowboys in TSA costumes harass the moderates endlessly. And we have the TSA crazies harass our own citizens just to make this stupidity “even”.
Other Muslims are just mentally disturbed — we are supposed to believe God told them to murder innocent people? Come on, that isn’t a religion.
Try wearing a cross in Saudi.
I am still trying to bring a tube of toothpaste with me on vacation, traveling within my own country — land of the free.
I have yet to hear a TSA agent or a Navy SEAL explain how a highly trained operative can take over a plane with nail clippers.
I don’t travel to Saudi Arabia, or even stop there, because the place is run by crazies (both the “authorities” and the “terrorists” — they are two sides of the same coin).
And I don’t want my country to end up like that
Yes, but you note that the whole sh*t show IS to do with western / US interaction with the middle east, whether toothpaste or a cross. That HAS TO tell us something, the proper interpretation is something else though.
Not all Muslims are terrorists, BUT a very large percentage of them empathize with them, if not outright support them. In any case, this is a Muslim problem and Muslims will have to solve it. As long as we try to separate the good from the bad Muslim, it just makes it easier for the moderate Muslims to do nothing, and they are the ONLY ones who can fix this without a full out religious war. They need to know that ultimately THEY will be held responsible and will suffer the consequences if they fail.
” Not all Muslims are terrorists, BUT a very large percentage of them empathize with them, if not outright support them. ”
From my experience that is completely true. You cannot expect moderates to hold any real sway, much less rely on. A complete guess – maybe half of established Muslims in the west are confirmed moderates (for now), but their influence is a fraction of the various currents globally, and the religion itself is rooted in the middle east, there is no escaping that (strong) influence. So most Muslims, now or in the future, may be regarded as a menace, their loyalties are way different to what we understand. That does not make them bad people, they generally aren’t, and have many virtues also, but the equation sucks.
So an intelligent policy would involve both a carrot and a stick. Integrate the moderates into western culture (if they want to call the US home, then stop calling the middle east home). Extradite the ones that physically life here, but mentally are still living there.
Every immigrant group in history went through this same struggle. Is your ancestral land your home, or is the country you fled to your home? If you don’t know the answer, then you don’t belong in either place — go back to the sh!thole you risked your life to escape from, and maybe you will figure it out.
If you think the US (or England or …) offers more hope and opportunity than the sh!thole you risked your life to escape from — than act like it. Adapt the culture of your new home, and act like it is your new home. Celebrate octoberfest, eat sushi, drink tea, manga lots of pasta — enjoy some of the good things your fellow Americans brought with them when they arrived. But understand this is now your home and you owe your allegiance to your new home.
If that isn’t self evident, then you don’t belong here. Go home. Leave.
This childish libtard nonsense where you escape from hell and then try to recreate hell in your new home… that isn’t tolerance, its stupidity.
“This childish libtard nonsense where you escape from hell and then try to recreate hell in your new home… that isn’t tolerance, its stupidity”
It’s Leftist Agenda.
Yes! She is right! Drastic times require drastic measures!!
The Mayor of London is right.
In the 19th century people were dying of Cholera in London.
Those in charge didn’t accept it or tell everyone else living in London to – they changed it.
What is Kahn employed for? If he can’t change it then he should be removed for someone prepared to do so.
If your a sales man and tell your employer to accept stagnant sales – you get fired.
His job is to fight to change it. He won’t because he shares the Koran with these people.
He daren’t say what needs to be said about the belief system that creates these people.
Its not the internet, that’s a facilitator. Its the belief. The words. To say the words are wrong is for him to go against the Koran and he daren’t do that. It’s not interpretation of the words, it is the words. It not facilitation via the internet, that would have no use if it wasn’t for the words.
How can a Christian preach hate and still be a Christian?
Not so for one other religion.
Westboro Baptist Church?
Standing in a church and saying you’re christian doesn’t make you a christian any more than standing in a garage and saying you’re a car makes you a car.
You will know them by their deeds.
Left actually.
I think that someone will put a bullet in his head one day.
Just saying.
The mayor of London can’t differentiate between “moderate” (peaceful) muslims, and the mentally disturbed Muslims who run around murdering innocent people — and then blaming God for their actions.
If a Muslim politician can’t tell the moderate muslims apart from the crazies — then how are other people supposed to?
Oops, went into mod., lets try without a word or two and string the link :
This article has a J.ish slant… because it has, it came up first on search, others are similar without that. It isn’t that he cannot distinguish, he just chooses not to, for whatever reason :
https: // blogs.spectator.co.uk/2016/05/is-it-islamophobic-to-draw-attention-to-sadiq-khans-links-with-extremists/
From which :
“In the same year, Khan was the chair of the Muslim Council of Britain’s legal affairs committee and was involved in defending the Muslim scholar Dr Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, whom the MCB described as ‘a voice of reason and understanding’. At the time, the MCB issued a press release blaming the ‘smear campaign’ against Qaradawi on ‘the Zionist lobby’. Khan himself gave evidence to the House of Commons Home Affairs Select Committee in which he said ‘there is a consensus among Islamic scholars that Mr Al-Qaradawi is not the extremist that he is painted as being’.
So who is this Muslim scholar, who was warmly welcomed to London in 2004 by Ken Livingstone? Among other things, he’s the author of a book called The Lawful and Prohibited in Islam in which he justifies wife beating and discusses whether homosexuals shours be killed. Most notoriously, he condones ‘martyrdom operations’, i.e. suicide bombings, against Israeli civilians, which he describes as ‘God’s justice’: ‘Allah Almighty is just; through his infinite wisdom he has given the weak a weapon the strong do not have and that is their ability to turn their bodies into bombs as Palestinians do.’ In spite of holding these views, Qaradawi is not an ‘extremist’ in Khan’s eyes.”
Etc.
I don’t know if Kahn cannot differentiate or will not differentiate… he’s a politician so I tend to think he is lying either way.
But for those of us that want to live in peace and get on with our lives — we are not going to get a solution from the adrenaline junkies on the police force anymore than we will from the mental patients murdering people in God’s name. Police state and weapons sales to middle east — we the people are currently funding both sides of this idiot war against ourselves.
We need to build things like Ellis Island (in NYC’s harbor) — England needs them too. We need to figure out ways to differentiate the moderate muslims from the crazies. All immigrants are not the same.
16 years after 9/11, trillions of dollars, trillions of euro, thousands of soldiers killed and even more injured — and the authorities still haven’t figured out an effective solution. Every word out of their mouth is “less freedom, more police state, more extremist mental patients”.
We don’t need more police and less freedom — we need to use the brains God gave (some of) us. Not every immigrant is our friend, that is childish. Not every immigrant is evil, that is paranoid. We need a system to help us tell the difference.
Israel isn’t a safe place — they alienate and harass the moderate Palestinians in an over-excited effort to get at the actual crazies, and as a result no one is safe.
The USA used to send all immigrants through places like Ellis Island in NYC’s harbor. It didnt’ matter what your excuse or special circumstances allegedly were — immigrants were sent through Ellis Island. No one cared what some stupid “judge” with an ax to grind against Trump thought. EVERY immigrant went through Ellis Island’s processing.
The USA, in a time when the country was far less populated, none the less filtered out undesirable immigrants. Immigrants with health issues. Immigrants who were criminals (or suspected). Immigrants with hostile / rebellious political beliefs. And immigrants with mental shortcomings (crazy or stupid). Ocean liner companies were told in advance that these undesirables were going to return to Europe at the ocean liner company’s expense.
It was a very effective system, and it worked a hell of a lot better than this extremist liberal nonsense in which they seek out undesirables and trouble makers and rebel rouzers.
Give us your tired, sick and poor yearning to be free. Keep your losers yearning to collect welfare and murdering guerilla warfare types away.
Seems nowadays the more controversial the better… must be a proverb somewhere about politicians, favours, and attention.
@chrysangle — ???
don’t understand your comment
When pc politicians are grandstanding for a cause, the more controversial the case, the greater the spectacle and attention, the more ability there is to achieve a ‘progress’, to save a ‘misunderstood reject’ from unfair condemnation. It is show, the granting of the favour of trust or acceptance, the triumph of a ‘good cause’ in an unfair world, redemption from the mistakes a nation or political group has made. The welfare types are ‘ refugees from our wars’ , the guerillas are ‘the downtrodden, part due to our nations, striving for recognition ‘.
Anything to gain the spotlight or project achievement.
Note how quiet the condemnation from the brootherhood.
London gets column inches but its widespread where no one cares.
Egypt, West Africa. A disease.
Now the chickens are coming home to roost!
The British people find themselves in an inextricable situation that has been created by their liberal and ‘tolerant’ politicians who’ve allowed millions of ME foreigners of diametrically opposite values, culture and religion to enter their nation and become permanent residents.
The British people should be equally outraged with their leaders as they are with the terrorists. The former bred the latter.
Now it will take extreme measures to rid the disease from the national body. And the Brits are too damn politically correct to do that.
So expect more of the same.
Personally, I will never visit Great Britain again. If I wanted to see the Muslim culture first hand I would travel to Saudi Arabia.
I left the UK in the 80s and have only visited occasionally since then. Migration policy is screwed up since around that time, foreign policy since the early 2000s. Who or what or how this will be corrected by is anybody’s guess, but the various ‘initiatives’ put forward from whichever political party miss by a mile, even were they sincere. Frankly, the country is not up to the measures necessary. Maybe that will change, but for the forseeable future events like these will be used by tptb to consolidate command. It is not a very good way to build a future for the country, by revolving policy around the existing conflict endlessly. A year of draconian legal change, deportation, and foreign policy reform, including discreet apology, might work… but it ain’t gonna happen as stands. Matter of pride, control, political correctness, voter demographics , continuity, what have you.
It will never change now short of a civil war. And that won’t happen. The Brits would capitulate before they’d fight back.
They’ve already gone beyond the point of no return. it’s over. The true Brits are prisoners in their own country. The ring is now closed. Expect more terror attacks.
In the meantime the politicians will continue to tell the native Brits to embrace difference and be tolerant.
And the obedient and orderly Brits will obey the command.
Btw, “obedient and orderly” does not always = civilized.
Sometimes (a fair percentage of the time) it’s just plain stupid.
Brits put way too much emphasis on manners.
And it will be their downfall.
Yes. I look to the future and I see the British as swamped in a larger game. However the cities are not the UK, there are very different folk in different parts of the country and you would be hard put to find more resilient people than some I have met, with manners that are very direct. Rural areas are much more independent minded, and not in a showy way. Even that may be changing slowly.
Perhaps when the time comes to coronate the successor to Elizabeth II the people will snap to their senses and understand the Bible is what the Kingdom is to uphold.
Most wouldn’t know the coronation tradition from an Arianna Grande concert.
Or a mosque from a church. This was Abedi’s mosque :

Meanwhile a Spaniard named Echeverría, last seen lying on the pavement after going to help someone being stabbed, cannot be found by his family or the Embassy, nor have any police or hospitals provided any information on being asked , this after 24h, and so it is front page in Spain now. Anyone here able to explain the delay?
The lady is spot on with Point 1, but Point 4 has ominous overtones. The remainder are simply more weak-kneed drivel.
UK police behind effort to ban knives to end ‘knife violence September 15, 2015.
“British police are supporting an effort called “Save a Life: Surrender Your Knife” in an attempt to curb the growing rash of “knife crime” in the country and have people place their “pointy” knives into bins strategically placed in almost every town”.
Well that really worked, didn’t it. Now the politicians will spend a few days talking all about it, Meanwhile, more and more migrants keep rolling in like they have been for years. Intentional?
https://personalliberty.com/uk-police-behind-effort-to-ban-knives-to-end-knife-violence/
Ban forks as well.
And pass a law that requires meat dinners purchased in a restaurant must be pre-cut to eliminate dinner knives as an essential part of the meal.
Saving just one life would make it all worth it / sarc.
Well for a lot of different reasons, several weeks ago I said I wished Trump would resign and let Pence lead the country. Nevertheless I would certainly still vote for Trump over Hillary. With this new attack, I still think there are a very large number of people in the media obviously on the left, who still don’t get it with regard to Muslims and the Islamic culture, and the more we bring in even vetted people of this religion into our country, these acts of terror are going to increase in my own personal opinion, so I guess I support Trump’s ban given the present set of circumstances.
Note selective use of the word Muslim.

The Twitter message was posted on May 10. Imagine if he would have made that post this weekend.
He already pre-suades Muslim as not being foreign, and heaps blame onto anyone who notices that it is not native. Nice touch the ‘mainstream’, feeds in to everything we think of as everyday common and compliant, unfortunately for him it is also becoming a by-word for bs.
Re-post

Hello freedom, goodbye safety. Goodbye freedom, hello safety. We are quickly moving toward a police state worldwide. This is the true intent of diversity and allowing Islamic terrorism to spread worldwide. It is to get the public to beg for total surrender of freedoms for the promise of safety. From chaos comes opportunity. We are planting the seeds of chaos to give us the harvest of oppression.
Seenitallbefore – yes, I saw an Israeli being interviewed (ex-Mossad) and he said that Britain has to do this, that and the other thing, has to change their laws, making it easier for police to pound down someone’s door if they suspect anything, make it so the police can ask you questions if they are at all suspicious, have more police on the streets permanently, etc.
You are right, this guy was basically describing having a police state. This is what it’s coming to. Mass immigration in order to in the end have total control over the masses.
What a mess Britain has gotten itself into, and all because people can’t see or think long-term. If they had, they would have seen this coming.
Send all Muslims back. Get out of the Middle East and stop bombing their countries. Mind your own business. Shut the f*ck up!
A multicultural state can only be ruled by an iron fist as Tito ruled the former Yugoslavia.
I guess a travel ban on people from countries that we are outright at war with, and killing their men, women and children makes common sense. of course they want blood back.
what makes more sense to me is to leave these countries to themselves and for us to stop killing them. thou shall not covet what they have or kill.
Obama said he wanted peace. look where that went. more drone killings than bush. now trump comes along and says in pre election speeches bring the troops home. then flipflops to increase the military budgetand then attacks Syria, holding my breath for NK.
expect more terrorist attacks all over the world including here in the usa. we are their enemy. we have killed their relatives regardless of their religious beliefs. expect the same back. wait til it’s your precious grand daughter who loses a leg, her eye sight and hearing.
sad our leaders can’t figure this out.
those that kill by the sword die by the sword.
the only side I am on is no war.
When you somehow try to equate a travel ban and literal acts of war — do you expect to be taken seriously? Do you expect to be treated like a mentally equipped person?
Stopped reading your warped thinking after the first insane sentence
Worth noting that our Constitution says Congress may pass no law respecting an establishment of religion. Yet the Commander in Chief is free to designate a religion as the enemy and wage war against the enemy.
You’ve been reading too much fake news.
Trump never attempted to ban all Muslims. Only people who live in the 7 most dangerous and terror ridden nations, according to Obama who apparently researched the problem. Christians living in those nation would be temporarily banned as well, until we’ve modified our immigration system to adapt to the risks. So there was no discrimination against Muslims.
Let’s all relax and try to remain objective until the Supreme Court weighs in. Fair enough?
+1
I agree with you. I am merely pointing out that the Commander in Chief has more latitude than Congress.
@Galbraith the illiterate — The US has enacted dozens of travel bans against various countries for hundreds of years. Even your beloved Obama did it.
Just because some creepy loser in a black robe in California wants to enact his personal attacks on Trump (putting millions of Americans who are not Trump at risk in the process) does not mean the idiots ban will be upheld.
Your ridiculous, poorly acted hysteria isn’t fooling anyone. You hate Trump. We got that. You voted for the criminal. We got that too.
But now you idiots want to put the rest of America at risk because you can’t handle the fact your criminal lost the election? Grow up loser
Sheep seek safety in numbers. Why they embrace the notion of the “collective” as they see safety there and that is because safety in numbers naturally assumes that it will be someone else who suffers, not themselves. They do not want to be safe on their own, from their own actions, they want someone else to pay the cost. This is what the “collective” IS. Acceptable losses are always acceptable as long as it is someone else who loses.
We need to be vigilant for terrorism in the U.S. and we need to stop the political correctness. We have had Orlando and San Bernardino attacks ascribed to Islamic terrorism so we are at risk like Britain. In addition, in the last 10 years right wing extremist terrorists have killed 49 people in the U.S.
We need to stop pretending that right wing extremists are just sick individuals, we need to root out the extremism and deport people who are expressing extremist views. I don’t care if they have American passports or were born here – get them out of our country – we can expand Gitmo or find another place to deport them to until they find somewhere else to live where they won’t harm Americans!

Stupid British , Swedish , Germans , French … they have what they wish
We need to follow the money….
Politicians who wage their own wars stir up the mentally disturbed in the middle east (murdering people is not a religion).
The mentally disturbed show up on 9/11 or Madrid trains or London Bridge or Nice/France and murder innocent people … and have the nerve to blame God.
Then the politicians drag out their horrid police state. You see hundreds of supposedly “free” Brits walking down the road with their hands behind their heads in total capitulation. Like they are the ones surrendering to the evil police state.
Lets be honest and admit that the crowds with their hands clasped behind their heads aren’t crazy — they know some yahoo police cowboy is going to use the occasion to murder more civilians, this time in the name of “state security”. The world watched as Scotland yard cowboys murdered Jean Charles de Menezes (a Brazilian) in 2005 in their over-zealous and misdirected efforts to capture the actual terrorists. The world watched as little cowboys in NYC police “undercover” costumes fired 40+ rounds into an unarmed man after 9/11 — because the man was deaf and didn’t hear the cowboys order him to surrender. A competent police force might have needed 1-2 shots to kill the man, *IF* he had been guilty.
As long as the police are allowed and even encouraged to make a media spectacle out of every terrorist act, the terrorists are getting what they want. As long as the public encourages more and more TSA agents, more and more NSA spying, and more and more drone strikes against targets that may or may not be terrorists — the state police / war machine gets what they want. The mental patients on both sides are winning.
You know who loses when the terrorists get their media frenzy, and the police state gets its war powers? We the people lose, that’s who.
There is a simple solution – ban all religion!
What about the cult of big government? Does that get banned too?
Yes!
It’s Not Islam That Drives Young Europeans to Jihad, France’s Top Terrorism Expert Explains
http://www.haaretz.com/world-news/europe/1.791954
I voted that the terrorist attacks would hurt Theresa May in the election but even if they don’t, they should. The first terrorist attack was from Libyans opposed to Gadaffi, some of whom were involved in NATO’s war to take Gadaffi out. Two cities in Libya were literally carpet-bombed on recommendation of some of these terrorist groups. Nothing much Gadaffi was accused of were proven true – neither the bombing of a W. German discotheque in 1985 which Reagan responded to militarily, nor the downing of Pan Am 103. The evidence in the latter was flimsy and Gadaffi denied it also although he still coughed up some money under the threat of force.
Theresa May was part of the Tory government that bombed Libya on behalf of essentially the same terrorists in the first attack and maybe the second as well. As Home Secretary, she was responsible for permitting terrorists to enter the UK. And now she is blaming the internet and wants to regulate it:
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/theresa-may-internet-regulated-london-bridge-terror-attack-google-facebook-whatsapp-borough-security-a7771896.html
Yes, you voted against Brexit and will do anything to try to stop it.
Lets not pretend your opinion is about a terrorist incident — other terrorist incidents are happening in EU strong holds — France (several of them), Germany (several more), Spain (at least two). The EU doesn’t have an effective terrorism policy — but they do have a disastrous and childish immigration policy
I was in England during Brexit and drove my cousin to vote favor of it. I woke him the next morning to tell him the good news. We celebrated all day. And, btw, Medex, Theresa May was (soft) for Bremain.
My comment was directed at NATO’s SUPPORT for terrorists – yes SUPPORT. Obviously, Medex, you must think it’s good for NATO to support terrorists after lying about Gadaffi being involved in it.
Maybe Khan can be PM. Would THAT please you?
What Wooten is saying is correct, the hard part is that the alternative are no better. Blair was labour as is Khan . I don’t vote, I think an unencumbered independent point of view is worth more.
Tony Blair essentially wants to get rid of the Queen and establish unelected bureaucrats in Brussels as England’s “new” sovereign, with EU laws and bureaucrats culture. Its socialism but they don’t want to admit it.
Kahn seems to want to get rid of the Queen and establish Sharia law as the “new” sovereign. A religious state on land belonging to people who have their own religions.
And while we in the US are calling the kettle black, we have people like George Soros and Obama trying to overthrow the US Constitution in favor of socialism — except the two are such cowards they try to cloak their intentions in false intellectual nonsense.
How did we lose confidence in ourselves to the point where we (US and UK, perhaps all of G7?) allowed socialists and rebels to indoctrinate our children in such crap?
A question I keep asking but have not found an exact answer to yet.
Very good questions. Both countries targeted imho by dark forces.
It’s not just the violence, it’s everything they do:
“A Muslim man is suing Little Caesars for $100 million after he says he was served and then accidentally ate pepperoni made with pork, a food prohibited by Islamic law. The complaint says Mohamad Bazzi of Dearborn ordered halal pizza twice from the shop on Schaefer in Dearborn. The boxes were labeled “halal,” but the pies inside were topped with regular pepperoni. Majed Moughni, Bazzi’s attorney, said he rushed to file the lawsuit Thursday, the eve of Ramadan, so no other Muslims would accidentally eat pork from the pizza shop during the holiday”.
Since the original article appeared, a second “man” has filed a complaint. This is how they take over. They did the same shit in Britain and worse. Bankrupt the host and then take over their land… This is an Arab thing used for centuries.
http://www.freep.com/story/news/2017/05/26/pepperoni-lawsuit/347564001/
Legal defense idea for pizza place:
Halal does ban the consumption of “pork” per se (pork didn’t exist centuries ago). It banned consumption of swine, and then only as an example of a scavenger animal.
Pigs in western countries have been bred for generations to be less gamey and less fat — and they are fed a specific diet to further that goal. They are not the same species that existed 1000 years ago in the middle east.
Since this matter has not been addressed by religious authorities, and since the US court system is prohibited from establishing any religious doctrine (or interpreting such doctrine if it existed) — the plaintiff has no case. Award lawyer fees to the defense (make the ignorant sh!t pay for his misuse of the legal system).
If you have a religious question about your food, consult your iman or rabbi or minister or priest — only an idiot would seek religious redemption from pizza hut.
What religion, even for 1 second, truly believes redemption is achieved through what you eat?
If only it were so easy.
Yet this guy in Dearborn assumed that a local pizza store was an authority on Halal foods.
And his lawyer seems to think a US court (which is prohibited by the Constitution from making religious determinations) is going to rule on whether Little Ceasars pizza is / is not actually Halal conforming.
So there is at least one Muslim (and his lawyer) who think redemption comes from a pizza parlor!!
Sounds like these guys are well on their way to assimilating into the USA zeitgeist – sue whenever you can!
Creating fake Muslim protest against the bombing.
MSM at it again.

“It’s impossible to have a police officer every place. That would be unrealistic and it would change the nature of a free society.” –NYC Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, quoted by Brian Jenkins, CNN Live
“You could kill all the terrorists in Afghanistan, all the terrorists in the world. You could hang Osama bin Laden in sight of the White House. You still wouldn’t have solved the problem because you will have created a whole new generation of terrorists.” –Col. Richard Dunn, October, 2001
It is interesting to remember that terrorism is not bad for everybody. For the Pentagon, Nine-Eleven was a windfall, providing wars and new drones; for NSA, a massive expansion in its powers; for Israel and AIPAC, the destruction of Israel’s arch-enemy, Iraq; for the arms manufacturers, hundreds of billions; for the federal government in general, near-dictatorship and, for jihadists, the involvement of the US in crippling and endless wars. Which is what they wanted. Everybody profited except the American public.

for the English people have this question:
What stopped the IRA bombings?
that problems are resolved through talking and compromise.
excellently stated
Your post indicates you have no understanding of Islam. One can not negotiate with a fanatic.
The only way to deal with fanaticism is to confront it and by that I mean destroy it and hopefully reduce the numbers of new recruits.
Nonsense. The IRA had a legitimate case.
May should select a couple of Mosques associated with the terrorists and drone them at 3 AM on Friday morning.
I just know if a Prime Minister of London had attacked Rudy Giuliani the way Trump engaged in a war of words with the mayor of London the reaction of New Yorkers and Americans would have been very united.
